Funeral : I

-Y/N's pov-
I couldn't see past the wall but I know that something was going on out there. Do I even want to know what's happening out there? I slipped on my black hoodie and snuck out my bedroom door. I hid in the shadows as my dad shouted at my mom for something she didn't do. I snuck out the back door and walked down the alleyway in between gates. Tall wooden gates, small chain gates, nutral sized gates, and even no gates at all. The one area that always cought my eye was a tall green gate. The green paint pealed off of it, nails poked out in some places, and one or two boards were loose. I stopped by it. I wondered, why is it so rusted and jagged? I knocked on the gate. The wooden board swung up and, swung back down. It got stuck about a foot or so from the rest of the gate. I slid through the open slip and stared at a big brown house. It too, was rusted and broken down, like no one had lived in it for years. Trees scattered the backyard which was two times the size of the house. A broken and rusty swing set sat in the yard. A slide came down from a tree fort in a group of trees. Even though there was a slide there was no latter or stairs. The grass went up to my knees and it itched. I stepped through the tall grass and found something hidden in the tall grass. I reached down and wrapped my fingers around what seamed like a toy. I pulled it up and confirmed my suspiciouns. The toy had a round body and head, it's legs were rectangles, and it's arm that was still there was a diamond shape. It's limbs were stiff and could barely move. The head on the other hand twisted smoothly, like it would fall off any second, it's head and body was a faded red color, the legs were a faded green, and the arm was faded blue in fact it was so faded that I could barally make out the color. I clasped it in my palm and continued towards the house. The grass itched through my jeans and I hated it. I got to the bottom of the stairs and stared up the ragged boards. They were cracked all the way up and looked like they couldn't hold any weight. "Y_N!!" screamed my mother's terrified voice from my yard. I ran back through the grass to the board that got me here in the first place. I glanced back at the old house.
A boy showed up in the upstairs window and I breathed in, holding my breath. The boy disappeared from the window and I slipped through the crack and dashed to my house.
Who was that? Did I almost go into a creepy house with a creepy maybe crazy boy living in it? I thought. I got to my mom who was crying in the back yard. "W-w-what is i-it?" I asked out if breath. "It it it's your f-f-father," she choked. "What is it," I asked suddenly allarmed. "H-h-he um, um, he," she tried. "What is it?" I asked eagar to hear what it was. "He, he," she choked again sobbing. She dropped to the ground sobbing. Suddenly I realized what was going on.

My dad had been suffering
from heart attacks for a wile.
I guess in the fight he just couldn't
handle it.

"Mom," I choked. I knelt down and rubbed her back. "He was a good father, right?" she looked at me with concern. I nodded. Exept for him being so mean to you. I thought.

My dad used to say that in
Highschool mom was a sweet,
shy girl. She was perfect. I always
thought about how mom would
Always say that dad was a bad boy
In school. I wonder why or how
They got together.

I hugged my mom tight and cried with her.

*Two weeks later*

People said a few words about my dad. His friends, his parents, his grandparents, his brother and two sisters. When they wanted my mom to say a few words she just cried and passed. A few people growled when she passed but other than that they kept to themselves. I stared at a boy in the very back in the corner. I left my mom and went to the back. I leaned against the wall beside him. "You okay?" I asked him. "I didn't know him too well. But my father did," he told me calmly. "Didn't expect you to know him." I hummed to him. I glanced at him. He was wearing black like the rest of us. I extended my hand. "I'm Y_N," I told him. He studied my hand, like he was debating what to do with it. He finally took and and shook it. "Mike," he hummed. We both stared at the front as more people spoke. "You ever been to a funeral?" he asked stirnly. I shake my head "no," I admitted. "It should be sad. But when you've gone to so many it gets boring," he confessed. "How many have you gone to?" I asked.
"Twelve," he muttered. Shock ran through my body as he said the number. He glanced at me and smiled lightly. "It's okay most of them were family friends that I didn't know too much about," he told me with a little laugh. "You're so calm." I choked on my words.
"Sorry." He whispered. I walked back to my mom and continued comforting her. I glanced back at Mike who seemed to be sliding against the wall downwards. His brown hair becoming messy.

*timeskip*

We started leaving the funeral when I saw Mike leaning against the brick wall of the building. "Go to the car, I'll be there soon," I told her. She nodded and continued. I walked over to Mike and leaned against the wall beside him.
"Did you cry?" he asked. The question was so out if nowhere.
"What?" I asked. What the heck does this guy mean? I thought.
"When you found the toy?" he asked. His question sent a shiver down my spine.
"What t-t-toy?" I asked, lying.
"The one in the yard?" he told me more confused like he was less confident that I was there.
"No clue what you're talking about." I lied. "Oh, um," he hummed and glanced off. How the heck did he know this?! I thought. "Well I think I should be going now." he said quickly before speed-walking away. I walked over to the car and got in.
