Chapter 22: Stay With Me {Finale}
{13 Years Later}
32 year old Phineas Flynn walked out of the NASA Station and peeked over his dark sunglasses.
He was still getting used to the bright California sun.
"Phineas! Ferb!"
He looked over and saw his older sister, Candace, now a 'mature' adult waving to him and his brother.
He smiled as they walked over.
"Oh, you guys! We missed you so much!" Candace said and hugged them tightly just like 13 years ago.
"Jeremy! Get their bags!" Candace said to her loving husband.
"Good to see you guys." Jeremy smiled as he took their bags and put them in the back of the car
"Johnsons! Front and center!" Candace barked.
Jeremy stood to her right while a teenage girl with blonde hair and a purple attire, and two younger boys that could've been twins stood on her left.
"You know Jeremy! Now this is Amanda! She's fourteen now! And my sons, Xavier and Fred!" Candace beamed.
"Glad to finally meet you." Phineas smiled warmly.
"Fred?" Ferb asked.
"Just a little tribute to our family." Candace winked.
"Now, get in the car! We've got more family to meet!" Candace said.
They all got in and were soon racing off to Danville.
Phineas and Ferb's hearts were beating faster and faster with every inch that they got closer to Danville. It had been so long, they were ready to stay there for the rest of their lives.
Finally, they stepped out of the car and stared at their childhood home.
"Well, Ferb. This is it. Ready to see what we've missed all these years?" Phineas asked.
"Ready as I'll ever be." Ferb muttered, as he now talked more since it had only been him, Phineas, Captain, and a few crew for a long time.
Before they could reach the door, it flew open.
"Oh, my sons! You're home!" Their mom ran out and embraced them in a hug. Soon, their father joined in.
"It's good to see you boys." Their Dad said.
"It's good to see you guys, too." Phineas smiled.
A tall slim woman in a black sun dress came up behind them and her hands flew to her mouth. She started tearing up at the sight of the British boy-...er, man.
Ferb pulled down his dark sunglasses and peeked over the top of them. "Vanessa?"
"Ferb?"
Ferb smiled as she ran to him and buried herself in his warm hug.
"Don't ever leave me again!" Vanessa said through sobs.
Ferb kissed the top of her head and ran his fingers through her silky brown hair. His heart was racing just by holding her. He wanted to cover her in kisses and hold her forever.
Phineas smirked. Ferb wasn't usually one for affection and at times, seemed cold hearted, but with Vanessa, he was like putty in her hands.
"Phineas? Ferb?" Buford and Baljeet appeared from the kitchen along with all the Fireside Girl Alumni. Excluding Adyson, of course.
Rumor had it that Adyson and Django had ran away together for reasons unknown. Her cousin, Johnny, despite his poor background, inherited all the wealth of the Sweetwater family and was living happily with his wife and kids.
Phineas smiled at his old friends. "It's been a while."
Buford stared at him and then let out a loud hearty laugh. "Much too long, Flynn."
Phineas looked around. Despite all his friends and family being there, he couldn't find the one person that he'd been waiting to see forever.
"Where's Isabella?"
All the laughter, music, and conversations stopped as soon as he asked that.
"Oh, Phineas, dear. Don't worry about Isabella, she...had something to do..." His mom said.
"Why don't you boys go to the kitchen and help yourself to the food?" Their Dad said.
Phineas and Ferb exchanged looks. They knew a lie when they heard one but decided to ignore it. It was their first day back and they weren't gonna ruin it.
As they grabbed some chips and dip, Ferb started up a conversation and muttered, "Almost forgot how terrible gravity was."
Phineas laughed lightly. "No kidding. So...where do you think Isabella is?"
Ferb smirked, knowing his brother would immediately ask about her. "I don't know. Maybe she really is coming later. You could always call her..."
Phineas paused and then shook his head. "I want to talk to her irl, you know? Like I don't want my first time talking to her in 13 years to be over a machine."
Ferb nodded.
After two hours and non-stop conversations with everyone, Phineas still didn't see Isabella.
He walked over to his mom. "Hey, Mom. When's Isabella getting here?"
She glanced over at his Dad, Lawrence, and he nodded. "Um, well, we didn't want to worry you..."
"Worry me about what?" He asked.
"Uh, sweetie, don't...overreact, ok?" She said, cautiously.
"Mom, just tell me." Phineas said.
"She...Isabella's in the hospital..." She said, grimacing.
"What?!" Phineas shouted.
All eyes were on him but he didn't care.
He went pale and he felt himself sweating. He could see spots in the corners of his eyes but he shook them away. He couldn't pass out now. Isabella needed him.
"Ferb! Keys!" Phineas yelled.
Ferb looked up and calmly threw his keys across the room to Phineas.
"Thanks, guys! I'll see you later!" Phineas said, running out the door.
As Phineas raced out of his neighborhood and into the interstate, he tried to calm himself down. At this rate, he was surely to get in a crash before he could see her.
"Isabella Garcia-Shapiro?!" Phineas practically shouted at the receptionist at the desk.
"Room 323." She said slowly.
"Thanks." He said and ran off.
As he approached her hospital room, he breathed in a lot of air so that his skin wouldn't look so pale.
"Phineas?"
He let go of the door handle and turned around to see Vivian, Isabella's mom who was a survivor of bone cancer in her legs but had to use a wheelchair.
"Hello, Mrs. Garcia-Shapiro. Is Isabella here?" He asked.
"Oh, yes! Go in! She'll be very happy!" She said and waved him in.
He entered the room and held his breath.
He sighed as he found her sleeping.
He took the seat next to her and stared at her. He rolled his eyes at himself.
Way to go, Flynn. You've only been here a few hours and the first thing you do when you haven't seen her in years is stare at her while she sleeps.
As he stared at her, he took in her whole appearance. Even after 13 years, she still looked like her beautiful teenage self. The only thing that had changed was she had a short stylish pixie cut instead of her long raven black hair.
Phineas froze as Isabella stirred in her sleep.
"Phineas...Phineas..." She murmured and he smiled.
He took her hand and smiled softly. "I'm here, Isabella, I'm here."
He held his breath as Isabella's eyes fluttered open.
"P-Phineas?"
Tears started falling from her eyes as she sat up and hugged him tightly.
"Please tell me this isn't a dream....that you're real..." She cried softly.
"I'm here. Don't cry, Isabella." He whispered, smiling.
She pulled away and then grabbed his face gently with her hands.
"It's really you..." She smiled, tears running down and across.
"It's really me..." He said.
They leaned in until both of their lips touched. Neither wanted to let go.
Suddenly, Isabella fell back. She was breathing hard.
"Isabella?! Izzy, are you ok?!" Phineas asked, worriedly.
Isabella didn't respond. Instead, her life line answered for her by beeping loudly.
"Isabella! Please wake up! Nurse! Someone! Please help!" Phineas shouted, holding Isabella close to his chest.
Several people came in, all wearing different suits, and rushed her away.
"Isabella! Isabella!" Phineas cried out, trying to run after her but Mrs. Garcia-Shapiro stopped him.
Just as Isabella was about to disappear behind the emergency door rooms, Phineas saw her lift her head slightly and smile at him.
"Wait for me" She mouthed.
And then she was gone.
Phineas waited for hours. Even though his body was screaming at him to eat and sleep, he wouldn't allow himself. Any moment Isabella could come back and he wanted to be there for her. Finally, after all this time, he just wanted to be there unlike when he couldn't.
She suffered through all this while I was up granting wishes for others....
Right now, Isabella's life was Phineas wish. His One True Wish.

Unknown to him, a form of magic was happening. One that only happened in cartoons...
In the other room, Isabella felt she could breathe. For the first time in years, she felt free.

"Phineas! Phineas!"
Phineas woke up with a jolt. "I'm up! I'm up!"
He looked up to see who had woken up, expecting Mrs. Garcia-Shapiro. Instead, it was the girl that made him love life and was his reason to live.
"Isabella!" He jumped up and hugged her.
"I missed you, too." She giggled.
"Some sort of miracle...her cancer is gone..." The doctor whispered to Isabella's mom.
Tears sprung to Phineas' eyes as he over heard this.
"Stay with me..." Phineas whispered, as he kissed her cheek, forehead, hair, neck, and lips.
"Always..." Isabella smiled.
Up above, two stars shined brightly as they watched their creations get the happiness they finally deserved.
"Aww, Dan, look at them...oh this is just like watching my kids grow up all over again." Swampy cried.
"Shut up, Swampy. I know this is sweet and all but you need to let go." Dan said.
"But it's just so tounching!" Swampy sobbed.
Dan sighed. "I'm going home."
"Wait! Don't leave! I'm coming!" Swampy said and ran after his partner.
{The End}
