Chapter 12: An Offer You Can't Refuse
{Isabella}
I woke up pretty early. It was nice listening to the chirps of the birds and watching the sun peek out of the horizon.
I looked across the street. From my window, I got the perfect view of the Flynn-Fletcher yard which when I was younger, I used to my advantage to know exactly when Phineas and Ferb would be out there.
I checked my phone and saw that it was 7:00. I was worried about seeing Adyson today. I knew it wouldn't be the same as our usual 'talks' or our meet ups when we were friends. I was still nervous though. I wanted to wake up Phineas and avoid Adyson. But another part of me wanted to see her and hope...that things could go back to what they were before.
I quickly dressed up in jeans and my favorite pink blouse and ran downstairs to get some breakfast.
As I went into the kitchen, I spotted the door slightly ajar and I peeked into the side window.
Mama and Papá were sitting on the porch. Her in her wheelchair and him in his rocking chair. They weren't talking, just starting at the sky. Their eyes were closed and they had their hands closed in each other's. There was a soft smile on their faces.
I sighed, happily, and then fixed myself a bowl of cereal.
"Isa, my mija! What are you doing up so early?" Mamá came up to me.
"Oh, I just...just felt like watching the sun rise." I said. Not entirely a lie since I did watch it go up.
She smiled. "The sun is very beautiful, just like you, mija."
"Thanks, Mamá." I grinned.
"Mi amor, we need to get some more of your medicine." Papá walked up behind her and kissed her head.
Mamá's face scrunched up. She hated the medicine.
"Mamá, I'm going to meet up with a friend later. Is that ok?" I asked.
"Hmm? Phineas?" She asked.
"No. Actually, it's Adyson." I said, pushing the fear that had learned to initiate at her name.
"Adyson Sweetwater? Should I make her something? You could bring her my chocolate cake." Mamá said.
"No, it's fine. We'll probably be meeting up at a cafe or something." I said.
"Well, just be safe, my little flor de cerezo." She said and then went back to bed with Papá.
Once she was gone, I checked my phone. Sure enough, Adyson told me to meet her at Izzy's Ice Cream Shoppe near the mall at 9.
I grab my keys and my bag and headed out to my pink car.
"Isabella!" Phineas called out from his bedroom window.
I waved at him.
"Wait up!" He disappeared and soon, his front door slammed open and he ran over to me.
"Hey, Phineas! Whatcha doing?" I asked.
He laughed. "I was just wondering where you're going at 8 in the morning."
"Oh, just off to meet up with a friend." I said.
"Which friend?" He asked.
"Oh, just someone. I'd love to stand here and talk but I've gotta bounce! See ya later!" I said, swiftly placing myself in my car and locking the door.
"Wait! Izzy!" Phineas yelled as I drove towards the city.
I'd have time for Phineas later but right now, I needed to get myself ready to meet Adyson for, what I hoped to be, a normal meeting.
My phone was connected to the blue tooth in my car so when my car stopped my music and my phone's ringtone rang, I wasn't scared.
You take the first letter of every word
You move it to the end and then say '-erb'
It's like we're adding a phonetic caboose to it
Don't get confused, just get used to it.
{Lol the lining came out weird}
I listened to me and Phineas' voice as we sang one of our silly songs that we used to make. This one was about our made-up langauge which we called 'Ferb Latin'. We still used it sometimes, but only with close friends.
Obviously, since it was our song, 'Ferb Latin', Ferb was calling me. I listened to the ringtone a little longer and then finally answered.
"Hello?" I asked.
"Izzy, I heard you're off to meet Adyson." He said.
"What? How'd you know? I didn't even tell Phineas?" I asked.
"I sorta figured when Phineas said you were off to meet someone. Anyways, remember what I told you about what Phineas and I did when we were in space?" He asked.
"You were like wish makers or something." I answered.
"No, we were wish givers. We granted people's One True Wish." He corrected me.
"Oh, yea. You said something about me making my One True Wish like three months ago." I said.
"Yes, and do you remember what it was?" He asked.
I blushed. I obviously remembered what it was since it was the only thing I've ever wanted since I met him...
"Yea..." I said when I remembered that he couldn't see me nodding.
"Good. Now, usually this is where Phineas and I come in and grant it but this is a special case. I can only observe. This is up to you and what you do to get Phineas' decision. So...basically it's up to you and Phineas if you want your wish." He said.
"You explained that before but...what about Adyson? You know about that, right?" I asked, nervously.
"I know a little more than you know but I can't interfere since your wish is also a part of her One True Wish" He said.
I forgot I was driving as I processed what he said. I slammed my foot on the break before I crashed into the car ahead of me.
"What?!" I yelled.
"Way to burst my ears, Izzy..." He grumbled.
I ignored him. "My wish is also her wish?! When did you find this out?!"
"The Captain told me like a week ago. Her wish is actually pretty complicated with a lot of parts." He replied.
"Then how is it her One True Wish? Shouldn't it just be one wish? I mean, that's why it's called that, right?" I asked, continuing to drive.
"One True Wish is just a title. It's actually just a wish or wishes that your heart desires. You know, like that song in that fairy tale?"
He started to softly sing 'A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes' and I smiled. His voice was so amazing. Add the accent that most girls fall for and you have the most beautiful voice heard. In Danville anyways.
Soon, he stopped. "Actually, Captain told me that you have another One True Wish. It's one that's buried close to your heart near the one you know about."
"I do?" I didn't remember any other wish but whatever.
I recognized the little green and white building with the fancy curlicue sign. My heart stopped for a second when I saw Adyson quietly sipping a drink from a tiny white tea cup.
"Um, Ferb? I'll call you back."I whispered.
"You're there? Ok, well, just ask yourself right now if your wish is what you really want. If it is, you know who you'll have to face. Bye, Isabella." He said and hung up.
I parked my car across the street and made my way towards the little cafe. I opened the door and a little bell rang signifying my presence. Adyson's eyes found mine. Just as I remembered, they were cold and distant.
I walked to her, nimbly, slowly taking my time. She stood up and stared at me.
"Hello, Isabella." She said.
"Uh, h-hey, Adyson. I-"
"I took the liberty of ordering you and strawberry and cream frappachino. Johnny told me you had a fondness for it. It'll cost you $3.50." She said, sounding like a business woman.
I hid my tiny grin. I knew that I never told Johnny that since he never took me out to eat. She must have remembered that it was my very first frappachino and that I absolutely adored them after that.
"Um, I-I..." I sighed and pulled out a five dollar bill.
She took and then sat down. "Now, I'm going to make you an offer that you can't resist."
I rolled my eyes internally. Ever since she helped pay my Mama's hospital bills, she's controlled my life pretty much after that.
"I want Phineas."
That was all she said and yet my heart dropped. She smirked when she saw my reaction.
"T-That's your offer? That's not even an offer!" I refused to play her mind games.
"I'll forget your $900,000 debt if you cut off all ties with Phineas." She continued.
I wanted to scream at her but then I paused. It...it was a good offer. The only one working in my family was my Papa and it was barely enough to support us and buy Mama's medicine.
"Can't..." I mumbled.
I felt her glare boring a burn into me. "Are you thinking of stupidly rejecting my offer, you half-wit?"
"N-No...I..."
I looked up at her with a hard stare, looking directly at her green eyes.
"Adyson...what happened?" I asked.
"What." She said.
"Why are we like this? We used to be so close. What happened?" I said.
Her face faltered and she looked down at her cup. Then she stared back at me.
"I don't know what you're talking about." She announced.
I stirred my drink, unable to look at her anymore.
"It...it used to be us and our fireside girls against the world..." I stuttered.
She paused.
"I...I don't know. I...I still want us to be friends b-but..."
She looked up at me and suddenly, I saw my friend. The same ones that had helped be my eyes whenever Phineas was around. The ones that shared so much of my childhood and was a huge part of my life. At least, before two years ago.
"Shut up. Stop talking nonsense. That was the past and you know just as well as I do that we can't go back."
Her voice changed and I was rushed back to reality.
She stood up.
"If we don't have a deal, then I'll leave. Good day, Isabella." She said.
Right before she reached the door, I lunged for her, grabbing her arm.
"Wait...I...you can have Phineas. Just please take away our debt and...and leave me alone." I whispered, not allowing myself to look at her, knowing I'd break down in tears.
She was quiet. When I peeked, there was a small sadness in her smile. When she caught me, she smirked.
She grabbed my hand and shook it. "Glad you see things my way, Miss. Garcia-Shapiro. Oh, by the way, not a word about this to anyone. If I find out, then your debt will be doubled."
I watched in defeat as she left with a victory, my debt, and my best friend's fate.
Finally getting back to the original plot line lol. Also, i thought I'd be done with this story soon but I checked and I hardly made a dent so for those who're enjoying this, don't worry because there'll be many chapters left^•^
