Billy really messed up. But it's not like anyone ever taught him magic! He was just trying to save his brother. And now he was here and his brother was not here. Plus mom and dad weren't here and had no clue what he had done.

This was a mistake he couldn't undo.

Outside the window was New York City. Billy had never seen so many people in his short few days of life on this planet.

He gulped and stepped back from the window. The buildings were so big and everything was so different from the suburbs.

He had to get home.

He turned on his heels to walk out of his room and caught a glimpse of himself in the reflection of a mirror.

"Ummm...." he walked over to it to observe himself. He had aged himself up somehow. He didn't mean to do that. Oh mom was going to be so upset! He was told not to do that anymore.

Now he looked to be around fifteen years old and he was taller too, still the same hairstyle and features though.

He sighed before going back on his mission. Getting home.

He opened the door and stepped out into the hallway of the small apartment. It was dark and quiet but he could hear voices downstairs. Perhaps it was his family? Billy liked the idea of that and ran down the stairs, excited to see his brother and hug his mother.

He ran around the corner of the stairs and into the kitchen when— he came across strangers.

"Billy dear, take a seat, your father is making your eggs." The woman said as she was making a lunch.

"Ummm.... dad?" He looked around.

"Yeah son?" The man asked as he flipped some eggs onto a plate.

That was not his father. That was not the vision.

Billy gulped and decided to play it safe and blend in. "Nothing." He said as he took a seat at the table to concentrate on reading these people's thoughts.

All he got back was the man was concerned about heading to work on time and the football game this evening. The woman was concerned about her son and his day at school but also was worried about fighting her husband for the rights to watch the bachelor tonight and not football.

"Ummm... so... school. How am I getting there today?" Billy asked trying to get some answers.

"You'll take the bus." The man said. "I got to get to the office on time." He said as he gave Billy the plate of eggs.

"Thanks." Billy said as he looked down at the eggs before grabbing a fork to take a bite.

"Don't forget you have tutoring after school today." The woman said. "You need those experiences for your college application."

"Yes of course." He said. What was college? What was any of this stuff? And who were these people? And where was his brother? "Is tommy here?" He asked then suddenly.

"Who is Tommy?" The woman asked. "Better not be one of those weird not friends of yours at school."

"I keep telling you Billy, if those kids cant save you a seat don't hang out with them. Simple." The man said

"Umm thanks..." billy said as he took a long drink of his milk.

"Oh shoot! I'm going to be late!" The man said noticing the time and began to rush out the door.

"And you mr. Need to get ready for school." The woman said as she gave him his lunch box. "Get your bag and things. The bus will stop outside in 15 minutes."

And billy needed all that time. He had never been to school before in his life. What does he wear? What does he bring? He found a backpack upstairs and it already had stuff in it so he decided to take that. He got some new clothes on and left the house after the woman said goodbye to him.

The bus did come as he was told it would and he did get on. Perhaps tommy might be at this school? And the two of them could get out of this place together.
