One blink.

That's all billy did was blink.

He just blinked his eyes and next thing he knew he was back in his bedroom. Well his fake bedroom in his fake home with a fake family.

"That was.... weird..." billy said as he looked around him. He sighed before throwing his backpack onto the bed and collapsing after it to get some rest. Looking for your lost family is such hard work to do alone.

"Billy dear!" His not mother called from downstairs. "Dinner is ready!"

"Ugh." Billy groaned. Now he would have to see these strangers. But he was starving.

He walked downstairs towards the smell of fresh homemade chicken fettuccine Alfredo. That was... his favorite meal. How did his not mother know that? Perhaps they knew him more than he thought.

"Oh my gosh... what happened to your face!" His mother gasped rushing over to look at it.

"Oh yeah.... just some kids at school. It's no big deal." Billy said.

"I told you to stay away from those boys. You can't be getting hurt like this." She kissed the bruise. "Would you like an ice bag?"

"Sure." Billy said

"I say you give those boys a good beating." His not father said as he was reading the newspaper at the table.

"Well.... I.... don't know why they were attacking me." Billy said as he took a seat at the table.

His father and mother just gave him a strange look. Did they knew something he didn't? Was it what the boys had called him? What was that nickname again?

Drag.

Dresses and dolls.

Bonnie.

What did all that mean?

"Thanks for the ice pack." Billy said after his mother handed him that and set the dinner down infront of him.

"Now eat up." His mother said as she gave her husband a plate and then got one for herself and sat down.

Billy ate his food right up. Magic using was exhausted plus he felt he walked all over the city today.

At the end he licked his lips and finished off his drink. "Alright. See you tomorrow—"

"Where are you going billy?" His mother asked. "You know we say pray in thanks of this meal after we eat it."

"Oh....." billy said before sitting back down awkwardly. "Yeah. Evening prayer."

He looked around the room for any sign on what the heck was going on. He had only been alive for less than a month and was already a teenager.

He finally found something on the wall. It was a star that seemed oddly placed to be important.

He closed his eyes and focused his mind to read his father's and mother's thoughts to figure out what it was.

'I know he is gay... that's obvious but how could he forget his religion?' His father was thinking.

'My baby.... getting too old for prayer. Does he not want to be Jewish anymore?" His mother was thinking.

Hmm.... billy had never heard those words before. They were different. But he could tell they were important.

And he would have to look them up after prayer, when he was in his bedroom alone and he could concentrate on his magic to find the answers in the various books on the shelf.
