Wishes

Tulirey sat watching the stars as she did every night. Her alarm would quietly go off under her pillow each night at 11 pm so that she could get onto the roof before her nightly wish at 11:11. All of her wishes came true because she had an angel assigned to make hers come true. She would always wish for another's wish to come true. Occasionally the wish made things better for everyone, but most of the time it didn't. The outcome of tonight's wish was questionable.
As she leant her weary head against the angel sitting behind her; Tulirey brushed her chestnut hair out of her eyes so she could watch for new constellations. As the angel Filane moved under her, Tulirey leant back to study his features in the gentle moonlight. His eyes were purple like most angels, but his eagle-like wings were pitch black instead of white, blending in with the night sky. His full lips and high cheekbones contrast well with his pale skin.
Beep! Beep! Beep! Beep!
"Damn that watch! I really enjoy the few minutes before 11:11. I should change the alarm to 11:10 instead of 11:08. Then I can have more time to hang around you." Tulirey pressed the button to stop the clock a bit too hard; bursting the clock face open without stopping the beeping. Filane moved back a bit as Tulirey threw the watch, the electronic beep stopping as the crash of glass and metal on concrete signalled the end of the watch. "Stupid watch."
"Forget about it. Are you coming with me after you wish again tonight?"
"Well duh. Of course I am. I'm always up for more time with you."
"Have you decided who the focus of today's wish is?"
"Yep. I heard one of the people in my class today. They had a wish that I would be happy to... grant."
"You sure you want to do that for Jacob?"
"Of course. I mean he might have a different opinion about it tomorrow..." With glazed eyes, Tulirey looked over to the spare clock on the roof. "I wish that Jacob's wish about his brother will come true."
"As you wish, my charge."
Tulirey felt Filane's arms tighten around her as he lifted her up into the sky. She watched as the patch-worked roof tiles passed underneath her with each multi-coloured roof. As they picked up speed; Tulirey could start to see the country house where Jacob, his parents and his brother Rory lived.
Filane dropped Tulirey on the rooftop before grabbing Rory and bringing him out to complete the ritual. The dagger Tuliery had recently given Filane glinted in the moonlight as he pulled it out. He raised the dagger before lowering it and slitting Rory's throat, before leaning down to drink a portion of Rory's blood. Turning to Tulirey with bloodstained lips, Filane uttered a single phrase:
"This is why you should be careful what you wish for."
