Q&A: Answers
As promised, here is the Q&A! I wasn't sure what the best way to go about this would be, so I'm giving a format I've seen and enjoyed before a try! Here goes! When "I" am speaking the text will be bold. Character speech will be in italics.
Emily
"How are you handling everything?"
Emily heaves a sigh. "About as well as can be expected I guess. I mean, how would you handle it if you found out literally everyone you were close to, including your pet, wasn't who they said they were?"
"Have you ever thought about having powers like Tae and Jimin?"
"Sometimes. Like when I thought it would be cool to maybe have the power of reading minds. On the other hand though, having powers, especially mind reading would open up a whole other can of worms." Emily taps her chin as she considers how to sum up her answer. "Honestly, I think I'm happiest just being plain old me. Mind reading would be cool, but it would be an invasion of privacy, and it's none of my business what anyone else thinks of me."
Jimin
"What was the first wish you ever granted?"
Jimin shoots you a dry look. "You know I've been alive a long time right?"
He sits quietly for a moment, thinking. Heaving a sigh he continues, "I think the first wish I ever granted was for a pet dog. I was assigned to this elderly man whose family had all passed away or moved on and he was all alone. All he wanted was a companion that would stay with him. I obviously couldn't give him a human companion, but a pet is doable."
"Are you the only wish granter at Wishing Well?"
"Nope! There are lots of other wish granters at Wishing Well! There are a bunch of genies, though I'm not close to any of them, and there are a few other magical species that Mr. Yoo has enhanced in such a way that they can grant wishes, too, even though that isn't their typical specialty."
"Can you sense what type of genie powers another genie has?"
"Well, at the end of the day, all genies grant wishes; that's their purpose. I can always sense other genies because they're like me, and sometimes I can sense whatever 'super power' Mr. Yoo has given them. I can't always sense what the other beings that work at Wishing Well are though. I'm not familiar with all the races, and unless I've interacted enough with individuals I can't figure them out."
Taehyung
"You know you're amazing right? You just appeal to me in so many ways. Tell me, how much effort would you put to protect Emily?"
You've made him blush!
"Shh, don't expose me, Intro!" Taehyung stares at his feet as he talks, "Thank you. You're amazing, too." Taehyung smiles up at you and his eyes shine with sincerity. "I would do anything to help protect Emily. She'd my friend and there's pretty much nothing I wouldn't do to help a friend."
"Do you have any friends that are also shifters?"
"No. I wish I did though! That would be so cool." Taehyung shifts his weight from foot to foot and stuff his hands in his pockets. "There are other shifters at Wishing Well, but friendship isn't promoted, and even if it were, I'm kind of an outsider, even among the beings like me."
"Can you shift into other forms or just your cat/normal human form?"
"I can shift into almost anything!" Taehyung's eyes shine brightly as he continues. "The only things I can't shift into are things that aren't actually real. I haven't tried inanimate objects, but I don't think that would be very fun! My favorite form is my natural form though. I like looking like myself, but sometimes it's fun to be other things! Being a cat was pretty nice, especially with an 'owner' as nice as Emily."
"Is a cat your only form? Can you turn into like a Phoenix or other animals? Or mystical things?"
"I can be anything that's real! I prefer my natural, human form, but being animals or someone else for a little while isn't so bad. I haven't tried a phoenix before! I'll have to check out Wishing Well's catalogue of confirmed species and see if they exist!"
Angela
"Do you think you should have told Emily about who you really are sooner?"
"There's a part of me that thinks yes, because honesty is so important, but there's a part of me that feels like I did the right thing not telling her. What would have been the point? Once she found that CD I should have had some clue that something was up and she might need to know. I honestly never considered that she would be in a position to find out though, and my being a fairy had no bearing on whether or not I considered Emily a friend. I never realized that she might feel like it was a betrayal to leave her in the dark about what I am."
"Is Em like your little sister?"
"Absolutely! And after Jin she's my closest friend.
Jin
"What happened to Namjoon and how did he disappear? Are you still trying to find him?"
"Well that conniving little guttersnipe--"
"JIN!"
Jin heaves a sigh and rolls his eyes. "Fine, Intro. I won't give spoilers. I can't tell you that yet, but yes I am absolutely still looking for Namjoon with Angela's help; it just isn't going quite the way I planned.
"How did you start the business?"
"Namjoon and I wanted to bring all magical beings together and give them a greater purpose if they wanted it. We wanted to be able to help out mortals and people who genuinely needed help."
"Do you ever talk to Emily? What's your opinions on her?"
"Sure, when she comes over or Angela makes her go out with us. She's a nice girl. It's been good for Angela to have a friend other than me. I do think she needs to be careful of the company she keeps though."
Jungkook
"Can we get a spin-off?"
"You'll have to ask Intro about that." Jungkook looks at his author and cocks an eyebrow. "I would say that your chances are good though. She has titles and vague ideas of stories for each member, though she's changed my story at least three times. Also, she acts like she's in control, but when she sits down to write, she generally lets us do whatever we want."
"What intrigues you about Emily, Jimin, and Taehyung? Opinions?"
"Intro says I can't spill my guts as much as I'd like since chapter 30 hasn't been released yet." Jungkook answers, rolling his eyes. "Emily seems really sweet, Taehyung seems like a good guy, and I honestly can't decide how I feel about Jimin. I feel like we could have been friends in another life, but currently I kind of just want to punch his face.
Hoseok
"What are you in town for?"
"Wouldn't you like to know?"
Yoongi
"I want to just say tell me about yourself but if I have to be more specific - can you explain your role in wishing well? Do you like the company?"
"My name is Min Yoongi and I work at Wishing Well. What else is there for me to say? I no longer do grunt agent work. I have no real authority there, but I am Mr. Yoo's right hand man. I'm his eyes and ears in the field. Whether I like the company or not is irrelevant. They have my loyalty and I do as I'm told."
Mr. Yoo
"WHO ARE YOU?"
Mr. Yoo looks down his nose and arches an eyebrow. "Who am I? You must be joking. I"m Mr. Yoo, the leader of Wishing Well. I thought that would be obvious, even to clueless mortals." He looks at Intro with a sneer, "You brought me here for this?"
Chill out Mr. Yoo. You're obviously no one's favorite character. Besides, you haven't had enough screen time for anyone to know very much about you.
"Still," he huffed. "You'd think, as important as I am they would just know.
. . . Okay then, moving on.
Introverted3xtrovert
"Okay guys!" Emily comes back, waving. "I'm going to ask Intro all of the questions you had for her." Emily cups her hands around her mouth and whispers, "I'm not sure if you know, but our author is self-conscious and didn't want to feel like she was being a weirdo and talking to herself. Here we go!"
"Why are you the nicest human being on the planet?"
"Intro is blushing guys!! I think you embarrassed her."
Shhhh, Emily. Hmmmm. I'm not sure that I'm the nicest person on the planet, but I try to do my best. I think, and I feel like an egomaniac saying this, but I think that maybe what makes me nice is that even though I kind of stink at it, I really try to take other's feelings into consideration.
"How do you come up with these amazing ideas? How are you such an amazing writer??"
Well, as far as my one shots go, a lot of times whatever music I listen to on the way to and from work will spark an idea in my head. Sometimes, I have ideas for scenarios that would be fun to write, but I don't have a whole story for them, so they become a one shot! As far as Wish goes, I can't really remember where the idea came from, but I'm glad it did! My mind tends to wander and I imagine different scenarios and what ifs. I wouldn't say that I"m an amazing writer, but thank you so much for the compliment! I feel that being a good writer comes from having a love of stories! I also think that reading helps make you a better writer. I'm not saying that you should take the ideas from other stories you've read, because that's stealing, but when you read you see the structure of how stories are supposed to flow. Writing makes better readers, and reading makes better writers.
"What inspired you to start Wish/a plotline as interesting as this?"
Honestly, I don't remember. I think I was wishing that there were more genie stories to read, but not your typical rub the lamp blah blah blah stuff. I have a friend that self publishes books and I messaged him my very, very basic idea for a genie story and we brainstormed a lot of Wish that day. Things have changed since then as I've started writing the story, but I like the changes that have been made. So I guess what I'm saying is, my idea came from the desire to put something into the world that I would want to read.
"So...who gave you the RiGHt to write such an addicting book? HMM?! ;D 💜"
I don't know! XD But I'm thankful that I can write this story and share it with everyone!! Thank you for reading and for such a kind compliment!!
"My biggest question is how did you make a fan work so much your own? It is recognizable as the thing we all love, but is definitely yours."
I've really had to think about how to answer this one. Honestly, I'm still not entirely sure. I think it helps that this is a story that I would want to read so I'm pouring my heart into it to make it the best it can be. I think it also helps that while I'm borrowing the names, appearances, and some characteristics of the members of BTS I'm not trying to pass this off as them. When I first started writing Wish I was really uncomfortable because it felt so weird to be writing fan fiction about real people, but after a while I realized this story isn't about them; it's about fictional characters I created that are modeled after them if that makes any sense. I feel like I've rambled in a circle and never actually answered the question.
"How did you pick the name for your protag?"
Oh. My. Gosh. I'm honestly not even sure, but I genuinely tried to start writing Wish after my friend brainstormed it with me and I just couldn't because I couldn't find a name that fit. I thought about using my own name, but that didn't work and made me feel weird. There were a couple of other names I tried that just didn't fit either. Wait! I remember how it happened now! Originally when I started Wish I kept trying to start it from Emily's point of view and it just wouldn't flow at all (I also hadn't settled on a name yet). Then one day, I sat down and was like, 'What if I started from Jimin's point of view and made an epilogue?' So while I was doing that the name Emily came to me, and everything fell into place. It was amazing. (Though there are sometimes I regret choosing the name Emily based on personal things, but this story wouldn't work or even be written if that wasn't her name.)
SURPRISE! Here's the answers 4 hours early 😂😂 I have no chill. I'm sure Born2beSad is face palming at me somewhere 😂😂😂
