Intro : Hello, My Miracle
"Yeonjun, can you stay?" my eyes have finally lit up upon realizing what I have been trying to ask him for a long time. "Can you stay until I am healed? Until I can live by my own again?"
It's only hope that keeps waiting for the end we are wishing for. Even if things go drastically wrong, there's always this hope- for believing that a miracle can happen. Call it pathetic, call it a weakness. None can live without hoping, and only hoping doesn't make the world better than it was yesterday.
Did you hold yourself from dropping your high expectations on someone a little less than yesterday? Did you try, though? Did you want others to have less burden? Or wanted them to breathe freely?
Believe or not, it's our high expectations that keeps us tangled and makes us feel lost. This handover of expectations from generations to generations, and mad chase for success. When will people realize that life has a lot, lot deeper meaning than that?
Life isn't always about chasing and rushing. No, everyone knows it better. But even after knowing this, do they care much?
To me, now life has a lot of meanings. Each day I unfurl them, a new reason to live appears. A new reason to breathe.
It's my garden of lilies that keeps me alive. It's my friend, Sarang, who makes me laugh till my stomach hurts. It's Mrs. Hyun, who's caramel tea tastes sweeter than honey on my tongue. Then it's him...
Him... a wish granted by the constellations, I believe.
Hello, my miracle?
WISH A MIRACLE | Choi Yeonjun
A Short Story
Written By Tani
Torn and devastated after a war of power and force, the village named Kyeon-ju, now has no resemblance of what it has been before. Prejudice and fanaticism have overpowered the colonial system and chained the people inside their own heinous bounderies. Here, the sick are seen as outcast, the poor are treated as inhuman, the rich call it 'washing away the bad'.
And when, Kang Mira, the daughter of Councilor Kang Han-seok, is caught coughing out blood in front of the curious crowd, time isn't taken much for turning her life into a terrible loss.
When you are seen as an outcast in the society, your name, derived from any beautiful word, doesn't do a great help.
For Mira, it really doesn't.
Dedicated to:

To Charu, Aurora, Rodosee, Sam, Anne, Zaima and all of my beautiful friends.
