𝐖𝐈𝐒𝐄𝐑 𝐓𝐇𝐀𝐍 𝐒𝐄𝐑𝐏𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐒

I have outlasted all desires,
My dreams and I have grown apart;
My grief alone is left entire,
The gleamings of an empty heart.

The storms of ruthless dispensation
Have struck my flowery garland numb,
I live in lonely desolation
And wonder when my end will come.

( Alexander Pushkin.)

WHAT IF THE WORLD WAS GENTLE?

A question a lot of people asked but they never seem to hesitate to contribute to it kindly with their actions. Unlike Mikhailovs. From the very beginning, they watched others thrive from the suffering and bloom upon the goblets filled with carnage. In the eyes of the public, pain was a demand. In fact, it was a burden passed from one generation to another, nonetheless, Mikhailovs remained neutral. Their lineage was loved by many. By right. For decades, they followed one rule:

Pain shouldn't dictate how you behave.

One day everything changed its purpose, understanding that the pain can't be avoided completely and could be hidden. It lurked in the corners of pitiful everyday life and unexpectedly approached those who believe the exact opposite. The prejudices were purified as the eternal winter came in. Pain hit the legacy unexpectedly with one loss after another.

AS ALEXANDER MIKHAILOV watched his father being buried in the ground, he understood that pain was inevitable. He stood there, alone, for a while, silently debating the time that was ahead. All that goodness was useless and he kept lying to him. He knew that he wasn't able to continue these falsities, now that the future was in his hands. Finally. When the men in white approached him, he knew that in order to avoid the pain he needed to become part of it and embodied it.

The Brotherhood took him and made him into one of them. Alexander was thriving from the suffering and bloomed upon the bloodshed he caused. As soon as he graduated and was able to choose freedom, he didn't hesitate. He was blinded by ambitions. Without the wise, he would be nobody. Nothing. Now that he became a man beyond people's understanding, he had nothing to lose. He entrusted his whole life and all his deeds to the Forefather, even his child.

VIKTOR was harmless as a dove, with a heart made of gold. He daydreamed about helping others. He had no idea what darkness, disguised in white, will be waiting for him on the edge as soon as he begin to perceive the world in the other way than it was painted to him. Viktor was recruited into Brotherhood against his own will and became just like the man, that raised him, whom he was always so afraid of. In order to fight the past, he was forced to look up to someone else, to the Forefather that always treated him differently.

Viktor was perfect, but a liability, and his father craved more.

BELAVA bit through the pain, tough as stone, and lived with it because that was the only thing she knew. A time wasn't wasted on her, being a girl of many talents. She dreamt to be an excellent figure skater until the color red clashed with her plans. Although Belava failed the red room's graduation, she was safe and always welcome because she was still far from being perfect and needed someone to take care of her.

No wonder the world wasn't gentle to Alexander Mikhailov since he sacrificed the ones his life should depend on, in order to be eminent to the Soviet Union.

One was loved, and one wasn't. The different points of view on the world split Viktor and Belava, only to have them realize that they weren't the problem. Yes, they were the epicenter. However, their father was only half of the source, the hypocenter of the occurring damage.

And when they got the chance to fix things up, they will surely take it.

Because they had enough. . .

OR

Viktor and Belava were born as debts of their father and were forced to give up their lives in the glory of the corrupted system of the USSR. They were caught up in lies. Still, they both excelled and both failed to become stronger. One task brought them back together, only to cleanse the world from the lies that the organizations kept for themselves and remind their father and the others that hurt them that they're the ones that should pay for their sins.

( ( COPY ⋆ RIGHT & DISCLAIMERS & CREDITS ) )

This fan fiction is set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe that uses and mentioned characters from Marvel Comics which is owned by Marvel Studios and Disney. I only own the characters that aren't part of the Marvel franchise - characters of the chaosverse - and the follow-up storylines.

The story has depictions of violence, gore, self-harm, death, depression, grief, talks about trauma, dictatorship and more. Read at your own risk. Any resemblance to actual events or locales or persons, living or dead, is entirely coincidental. I do not sympathize with USSR!

The layout used in this book and its elements belong and was inspired by silksenses and is used with permission.

( ( NOTES ) )

⋆ :: WISER THAN SERPENTS is part of a series called CHAOSVERSE. The series is still based on events that happened in the marvel cinematic universe but they are slightly different and use alternative outcomes. For example, I will present my version of Red Room, Winter Soldier etc.

⋆ :: Just for the record, Alexander (Aleksandr) Mikhailov and Belava Mikahailova are Ukrainian, and Viktor is Russian-Ukrainian.

⋆ :: All the characters speak depicted language, mostly Russian, since that is a language that I know. Every dialogue is translated to English, however, if some of the words have a special meaning or they are a catch-phrase they are transliterated from cyrillic to latin.
