A man went to visit a guru at an ashram seeking for a spiritual advancement. Guru advises the man to be clean and pure. This person devotedly follows him and makes a visit often to know if he has improved. This repeated for several times, till the man became so impatient and raises a question to the guru about his taking bath thrice, avoiding consumption of food outside and also maintaining a celibacy. Yet, why was he given a same advice every time? The guru replied that when he meant about the cleanliness, it is related to mental conditioning not only at the physical level. So, perseverance with controlled tongue is an important criteria for a self development.
