If you don't know the whole origin story of Wonder Woman, I suggest skipping this chapter if you plan on seeing the movie. Besides that, I'm not really going over the plot, so there aren't any big spoilers.

Okay, so this movie has a lot of underlying Greek mythology in it, which I'm a slut for.

Unfortunately... I'm not so sure how I feel about the myths they used.

It's inaccurate in my opinion, but it's an iffy subject because Greek mythology often contradicts itself.

For example, some myths describe Aphrodite as the daughter of Zeus. Some myths describe her as the daughter of Ouranos.

Some myths describe Eros as the son of Aphrodite. Some myths state that Eros was created from Chaos along with with Gaea.

In Wonder Woman, the movie states that humans were created by Zeus in his image. They were perfect and peaceful and then Ares made them destroy each other, so Zeus made the Amazons to bring peace... I just... don't think that's a real myth.

If you can find or know of stories where this is accurate, please, direct me to the source so I can see for myself, and I'll digress.

First off, Amazons are warriors... literally they live for war. They had no concerns for peace. Second, the whole tribe was descendants of Ares himself... not creations of Zeus. And he often interacted with the Amazons and gave the Queens and notable warriors in the tribe gifts.

Even cutting the inaccuracy behind WW-Amazons out of the picture, there are only two human creation myths that I personally can remember. The one that involves Zeus is where Zeus creates different humans in different Ages (Golden Age, Bronze Age, Iron Age, etc). Each Age either destroyed themselves or Zeus was not pleased and destroyed them. And not all the Ages were peacefully. Some literally were created and then just started slaughtering each other, which is hardly what's described in the movie.

Literally while watching the movie I wanted to scream out that Prometheus made humans but I held myself back 😂

I guess that's all that I can critique without getting too far into the actual plot of the movie... so I'm done.

But seriously, even though it's really not a huge deal, I prefer Hollywood not make up their own Greek myths and just stick with that originals. My rant is done now.
