I stayed up til 1 last night reading my AP English book.

I am so tired.

I'm willing to pull an all nighter for Harry Potter, but I don't quite know about this book.

My teacher was quite excited when I picked it because it was by a Canadian author (even though it takes place in the United States? Thought that was strange but I guess you do you) and she's from Canada so she was pretty happy.

It's dystopian world where woman have lost all their rights, but their brainwashed to think that they are being "protected". A few events happened in the past that made mostly everyone lose fertility, BUT it's illegal to claim that a man is sterile; women are just barren.

Anyways, from what I've gathered, women that have been proven to be able to reproduce in the past become what are called Handmaids, which Commanders (husbands with money) hire to impregnate because their wives cannot produce. If a Handmaid cannot produce an offspring within a age certain age window, they are sent to an island as an Unwoman (I think that means they get a hysterectomy, but I'm not sure yet).

The world in which this takes place is reproduction crazy. They have these Salavagizing where they hunt down former abortion doctors and priests of different religions (so far I've seen this happened to a Baptist and a Quaker, and I know for a fact the Angels are fighting Baptist rebel groups), kill them, and then hang them up on the Wall for all to see.

The HandMaids are covered from hand-to-toe in red clothes, and in public, they must where a white hat over their head that must cover every inch of them except a slit of their face (kinda like heavy duty horse blinders). At home, they're not required to wear the blinder, but they do have to wear a veil and cover their hair.

This really complicated and hard to explain and also hard to read because she has flashbacks that blend in with the main story, but I'm still sorta interested and keep reading anyways because I think she's gonna fall in love with Nick, which is a worker for her Commander.
