The American Flag
So, I have a question for all my neighbors to the noreast, or any citizen from another country for that matter.
Do you guys hang your country's flag everywhere?
Because on the way home from my grandma's house, I counted around 38 American flags, and that was just on my side of the road.
We really love our flag.
I mean, in the pledge of allegiance, we literally pledge ourselves to our flag before our country.
I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.
And our national anthem is about our flag.
O say can you see, by the dawn's early light? What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming, whose broad stripes and bright stars through the perilous fight, o'er the ramparts we watched, we're so gallantly streaming? And the rockets' red glare, the bombs bursting in air, gave proof through the night that our flag was still there. O say does that star spangled banner yet wave for the land of the free and the home of the brave!
WE ARE SINGING ABOUT OUR FLAG NOT OUR COUNTRY
A little history lesson, our national was actually written while a guy watched a battle during the Revolutionary War.
But it's about our flag, at least, the verse we chose is, and not really the battle or the country?
Like... I mean, I love the flag, don't get me wrong, but does anyone else find it a bit weird?
