Chapter 5 -

Bucky stared at the footage from the gunfight in the subway. He gulps down at breath of air as he recognizes Night hovering over a human trying to stop the bleeding. He watches in surprise as she pauses when a human man comes near to her. Bucky had to admit it was very strange to see her response. "SO that's her?" He hears Hunter ask over his shoulder.

"Uh huh," Bucky replies zooming in on the human's face.

"Who's this guy?" Hunter asks as he reaches into the fridge for a beer.

"Not sure, but it seems Night knows him, or at least there's something about him that distracted her."

"Well then I guess he's the guy we look for next?" Hunter asks and Bucky nods. He quickly sets to work looking for the human's address and when he finds it he quickly sets out to the location with Hunter close behind. Surprisingly Bucky was lucky enough to meet Michael outside his apartment building. Walking up to him he says, "Michael Corvin?"

"Yeah, that's me. Who're you?" Michael asks looking suspiciously between Bucky and Hunter.

"My names James Barnes, this is my associate Lance Hunter; we just wondered if we could ask you a few things about the incident in the subway earlier tonight. Is that alright?"

"Uh yeah, sure, would you like to come in?" Michael asks and Bucky nods.

"Thanks Mate, it's a might bit chilly out." Hunter replies making Bucky glare at him.

"Where ya from Michael?" Bucky asks as he and Hunter follow him to the elevator.

"Originally? Long Island, New York." Michael replies Making Bucky smile.

"No kidding, I'm from Brooklyn." Bucky replies trying to lighten the mood. "It's nice to see a fellow American out here."

"That's true," Michael replies as they all pile into the elevator. Michael hits the number five button and they all wait patiently until the reach the fight floor. Piling out of the elevator they make their way toward Michael's room only to hear a phone ring and see that his door is in fact ajar. Bucky pulls out a gun he had been hiding and Hunter places Michael between them as Bucky slowly opens the door. Bucky walks in first followed by Michael and Hunter as a voicemail is left by one of Michael's coworkers.

Bucky doesn't see anyone but he can sense there is something there. Then as the message ends a woman surges between him and Hunter grabbing Michael by the collar and hoisting him up into the air pins him against the wall as she says, "Why are they after you?!" Bucky is about to intervene when a familiar voice is heard from behind him.

"James?" it asks and he turns to see Night staring back at him with wide eyes.

"Hey Darlin," He replies suddenly forgetting about the other people in the room.

"Is it really you?" She asks moving closer to him her hand raised slightly to touch him. But before she can she hears Selene call her name and she instantly points a gun at him and Hunter. "Why are you here?" She asks her eyes furrowing in anger.

"I came to find you." He says and he could swear he saw something flitter through her eyes.

"You should've stayed gone." She says pulling her other gun out and holding it up to Hunter.

"Oh, whoa, wait a second, I'm Switzerland in this mate." Then before she could reply a loud howl is heard and the roof caves in slightly in places where Bucky was sure werewolves had landed. "I think it's time to go." Bucky watches as she turns her guns from them to the roof and starts to fire. Her friend follows suit releasing Michael in the process who instantly makes a break for the elevator. "Let's go mate!" Hunter calls as he pulls him out into the hallway and to the elevator where Michael was about to press a button. "What now Barnes?"

"We get him somewhere safe." Bucky says sliding the slide back on his gun arming it.

"Why are they after me?" Michael asks and both other men shake their heads.

"No idea, but we'll soon find out." Bucky replies right as the elevator doors open to reveal a man with long dark hair standing in the doorway.

"Hello, Michael." He says and before Bucky can move the man is shot in the side multiple times causing him to fall on Michael and pull him to the ground. Bucky jumps forward only to have the man shove him back and bite down hard on Michael's shoulder causing him to cry out in pain. Seconds later the woman that was with Night drags Michael out by his legs away from the Lycan.

"GO NOW!" Bucky cries out to Hunter who instantly follows the woman and Michael. Bucky starts to move after Hunter when he sees the Lycan spit some of Michael's blood into a vial. Bucky narrows his eyes but continues away from the Lycan. Before he can make it too far he feels a sharp pain in his neck and cries out in pain. Bucky quickly turns and slams his back against the wall making the Lycan release him.

"I remember your scent." The Lycan says and Bucky pauses for a moment as he turns back to look at him. "You're still searching for her, aren't you?" Before Bucky can reply a horde of Lycans come down through a hole in the roof causing him to flee after Hunter. Bucky makes it outside just as the dark-haired woman is shoving Michael into a car. He quickly runs over to it and opening the rear passenger side door climbs inside only to be met by Night holding a gun at his head.

"What are you waiting for shoot him?!" The dark-haired woman says but Night just shakes her head.

"I can't." Night answers her eyes turning from him to Selene and it was like they had a silent conversation all their own. The woman nodded quickly then put the car in drive and slammed her foot on the gas. We surge forward down the street only to have the long-haired man from before leap onto our car and start stabbing a sword through the roof. Bucky lifts his hand to find he had dropped his gun the in scuffle earlier. "Shoot him Night!" the dark-haired woman orders.

"I can't, I'm out!" Night replies right before the sword comes down again, but this time in her friend's shoulder. Letting out a cry of pain she slams on the brakes making the long-haired man flip over the hood and onto the ground. She instantly throws the car into reverse and backs up. Once the man is standing again she returns the car to drive and slams on the gas. The Lycan turns around just seconds before she hits him allowing him to roll his shoulder into the impact and land on his feet after he rolls over the car.

No one glanced back as we continue to drive away. After a few minutes Bucky feels his phone vibrate and he opens it to see that Hunter had safely made it out and was waiting at a safe house. "Selene pull over and let me drive." Night says as she leans forward to try and stop her friends bleeding.

"I'm fine." Selene states making Night grit her teeth.

"Now's not the time to play it tough Selene, pull over."

"Shut up and hold on, I'll be fine." She replies making Night throw her hands up in surrender. Seconds later Selene passes out causing Michael to grab the wheel only to have us crash on some fallen poles and flip a couple times before falling into the water. Bucky braces himself but is too late to save Night as she is tossed around in the car. As the water starts to put pressure on the cabin the glass starts to crack. Bucky looks over to see Michael pull Selene into his arms and reach for her gun. Bucky instinctively grabs Night and when Michael shoots the glass tries his best to push Michael and Selene out of the car and toward the surface before grabbing Night's hand and pulling her with him.

Breaching the surface Bucky points to a space under the boat docks and has Michael swim toward it. Night pulls her hand free from Bucky and quickly follows Michael. Bucky clenches his jaw but does the same. Once he reaches shore he finds Night holding pressure on Selene's wound while Michael tears his coat and wraps Selene's wound. Once she is taken care of Bucky turns his attention to Night. "Are you okay?" He asks and she nods.

"What are you doing here James?" She asks her eyes not moving from her friend's unconscious body.

"I needed to find you." Bucky says and she shakes her head.

"You should've stayed away. I told you it was dangerous for you to be near me." She glances over at Michael right as he passes out. Bucky quickly moves over to him and checking his pulse lets out a sigh of relief. "He's fine. He's got a nasty bump on his head, but he'll live." Bucky says making her nod as he eyes move from Michael to him.

"How is it you haven't changed in the last seventy years?" She asks and he looks down at the ground.

"We'll talk about it later. Right now, you need to rest."

"So do-" she pauses suddenly noticing the shiny metal of his arm. "What the hell happened after I left?"

"It's a long story. One best kept for later, now rest."
