Spidersitting
It was six o'clock in the morning and Sam is the first to wake up. Before getting out of bed, he brushes back Bucky's hair and presses a kiss to his hairline. Bucky hums as a smile comes to his lips. Sam gets out of bed and heads to the living room.
"Bucky, hurry! There's a spider!" Sam shouts.
His boyfriend springs out of bed then joins him in the living room and sees the spider.
"KILL IT!" Bucky shouted.
"YOU KILL IT!" Sam told him.
Bucky walks over to the front door and grabs one of the shoes from the shoe rack. Then he cautiously creeps up on the spider, ready to wack it with the shoe. But before he brought the shoe down onto the spider....Peter catches the shoe.
"SAVE YOURSELVES!" Bucky said running out of the room.
"COME BACK!" Sam called out.
"You guys think you're really funny, don't ya?" Peter said, unamused.
Sam busts out laughing, and Bucky comes back into the living room laughing as well. The two laugh and laugh until there are tears in their eyes.
"Yeah...yeah, we do." Sam said once his and Bucky's laughter died down.
"But, seriously, kid...what are you doing here?" Bucky asked the teen.
"Aunt May is out of town...Mr. Stark is out of town." Peter replied.
"So? You're almost seventeen, can't you be home by yourself?" Sam asked with a scoff.
"Well...I'm grounded. So, Mr. Stark dropped me off here so I can be supervised...Aunt May agreed." Peter explained.
"So...we're babysitting?" Bucky asked.
"Don't say it like that." Peter whined.
"Does it bother you?" Bucky asked him.
"Yes." Peter answered.
"Alright, Sammy, looks like we're babysitting!" Bucky declared with a grin.
Peter pouts, folding his arms across his chest. After breakfast, Peter sits on the living room couch and grabs the tv remote.
"Hey, is it alright if I watch some tv?" Peter asked.
"Nope." Bucky replied taking the remote from him.
"How come?" Peter asked frowning.
"Cause you're grounded. So no tv, no laptop, unless you have homework to do." Sam said standing next to Bucky.
"I already did all of my homework." Peter sighed.
"Then no laptop...or books." Bucky told him.
"Why no books!?" Peter asked them.
"Cause you're a nerd who enjoys them." Sam answered.
"You're not supposed to have fun when you're grounded." Bucky stated.
"Mmmhmmm." Sam agreed.
"So what am I supposed to do?" Peter asked, pouting sadly.
"Oh, I know...you can do the dishes..." Bucky said smiling smugly.
"...and the laundry..." Sam added.
"...and the gutters." Bucky finished.
"Really???" Peter replied pouting more.
Sam and Bucky nod, then the teenaged superhero sighs in defeat and hangs his head. He gets up then trudges into the kitchen and begins doing the dishes. All day, Peter did the chores he was told to do...all with a sad little puppy-dog frown.
"Aww, why does he have to make that face? Now I feel bad." Bucky groaned as he and Sam watched Peter clean the gutters.
"Yeah...what did he even do to get grounded? He's usually an annoyingly well behaved kid." Sam said handing his boyfriend a can of soda.
Suddenly, the ladder slips out from underneath Peter and he falls into a mud puddle with a shriek. Poor Peter just sits there looking completely defeated, then his eyes become wet and his bottom lip starts to quiver.
"Ahh sh*t, he's about to cry." Bucky sighs handing his soda over to Sam.
He goes over to Peter and pulls him to his feet.
"Come on, kid, let's get ya cleaned up." Bucky said patting the kid's shoulder.
"*sniff* okay..." Peter mumbled.
While Peter was in the shower, Bucky puts his muddy clothes into the wash. When Peter was out of the shower, Bucky hands him some of Sam's clothes...which were a little big on him.
"Sorry, these were the smallest I could find." Bucky said.
"It's okay..." Peter replied quietly.
"Hey, what's up with you?" Bucky asked Peter.
Looking at how small the boy looked in the baggy clothes reminded Bucky of pre-serum Steve. And judging by the stories Tony has told him, the kid acts like him too.
"Just...had a bad week." Peter sighed.
"Want me to finish the gutters?" he asked.
"Nahh, you've had enough today, Sam's finishing up the gutters right now. Besides you look exhausted." Bucky shook his head.
"Why don't you go into the living room and watch some tv." he told him.
"But I'm grounded." Peter said confused.
"What did you even do?" Bucky asked, leading Peter into the living room and sitting on the couch.
"Broke curfew...five times." Peter answered.
"Were you maybe...out doing Spider-Man stuff when you broke curfew?" Bucky asked eyebrow raised.
"....maybe..." Peter mumbled, avoiding Bucky's gaze.
"But, I'm a superhero...crime doesn't take a break, so why should I?" he added.
"Kid, despite having super powers, you're still a human being, you need rest, you can't go over working yourself. Also, you're young, and it's not gonna last forever, so be a kid for as long as you can." Bucky said putting a hand on Peter's shoulder.
"But...I-I just wanna prove that I'm just as good as you guys." Peter replied putting his head in his hands.
"First of all..." Sam said entering the room.
He sits on the couch next to Bucky and throws his arm around his shoulders.
"...You don't need to prove yourself to anyone, and second...you are already a great superhero." Sam told the youngest Avenger.
"Really? You think so?" Peter asked smiling a bit.
The men nod, then Peter starts to tear up again.
"I'm sorry, I don't know why I'm being so emotional." Peter chuckled lightly, wiping at his eyes with his sleeves.
"Well...this is a total shot in the dark, but...maybe you're just rrreeeaaalllyyy exhausted." Bucky said.
"Yeah, just look at those bags under your eyes." Sam agreed.
The couple has Peter take a nap on the couch while they cooked dinner. Next, Peter's aunt comes to pick him up after dinner. Peter thanks them for the pep talk on his way out.
"Ya know the way we handled Peter today makes me think that we'll be great parents one day." Bucky said as he and Sam settled into bed.
"Me too." Sam replied snuggling into Bucky's chest.
"Goodnight, Sammy. Love ya." Bucky said kissing Sam's head.
"Goodnight, baby. Love you too." Sam said kissing Bucky's cheek.
As they drifted off to sleep, Bucky dreamed of raising kids with Sam.
