A/N: Fem!Bucky AU.

When Steve heard Sam groaning, he quickly turns around and sees him fluttering his eyes.

"Oh my god, Buck, look! Sam's waking up!" Steve said excitedly.

"That's fantastic! But I still really have to pee, so can you stay with him until I get back?" Bucky replied.

"Sure." Steve said, giving his friend a thumbs up.

Bucky quickly shuffles out of the room, one hand on the small of her back and the other on her large baby bump. While Bucky was in the bathroom, Steve helps Sam sit up in his bed.

"Uhg...what's going on? Where am I?" Sam grunted, rubbing his head.

"You're in the medbay of the Avengers Compound." Steve replied.

After blinking his eyes blearily, Sam stares at Steve with a very confused expression on his face.

"....Who the h*ll are you?...." Sam asked.

"That's not very funny, don't joke around like that." Steve said firmly.

"I'm not joking....I have no idea who you are....or who I am, for that matter." Sam told him, sounding distressed.

Steve felt very anxious when the realization that Sam seriously had amnesia hit him.

"This is not good....not good at all." Steve said, running a hand through his hair.

"I'm back!" Bucky said opening the door.

Quickly, Steve rushes over to Bucky, ushers her out of the room and closes the door behind him.

"What the h*ll, Stevie!?" Bucky grumbled annoyed.

"What's going on?" she asked.

"Ummmmmm.....so, there's good news and there's bad news....." Steve said nervously.

"Steven Grant Rogers, I am a week overdue, my back hurts, and my ankles are swollen like sausages....I do not have the patience for you to beat around the bush, now just tell me what's going on." Bucky growled, clenching her teeth.

"*sigh*....Sam has amnesia." Steve sighed grimly.

At first, Bucky didn't want to believe what Stevie was saying...but she knew her best friend wouldn't lie to her about something like this. She wanted to cry, but she couldn't, she was tired of crying...so instead she just sighs in defeat.

"Of course he does, because anything can't ever be easy, can they?" Bucky said with a pained smile.

"I'm gonna get Bruce to take a look at Sam, and then we'll figure out something to help him get his memories back." Steve said, placing a comforting hand on Bucky's shoulder.

"Maybe seeing you can help him jog some memories." he suggested.

"No. Seeing me like this, all heavily pregnant, would be too much of a shock to him. It could cause more damage, I can't risk that. So, until his memories come back on their own...I need to stay away from him." Bucky replied, shaking her head.

"But, you need him, Bucky." Steve argued.

"Sam's wellbeing is more important right now." Bucky countered, walking away.

Grumbling about how stubborn his best friend is, Steve finds Bruce and gets him to check Sam's vitals.

"How's Bucky holding up?" Bruce whispered to Steve.

"Not good. She completely shut down and went to her room." Steve whispered back.

"Got any ideas on how we're gonna help Sam?" he asked the scientist.

"Hmmm....the Wakandans were the ones who fixed Bucky's brainwashing, right? Maybe they can fix Sam's memories too." Bruce said.

"Bruce, that's brilliant!" Steve cheered, hugging Bruce tightly, almost crushing him.

The next day, Shuri, along with five Dora Milage, came to the compound.

"Thank you so much for coming, Shuri." Steve said shaking the girl's hand.

"It's no big deal, I'm just here to help a friend, that's all." Shuri replied.

"How is Sergeant Barnes doing?" Ayo asked.

"It's.....been a rough few months for her." Steve sighed.

"Then let's not delay any longer. Stark, Banner, you will help me with the procedure. It will be a very delicate process that requires absolute focus. So, the rest of you will under no circumstances do anything that will interrupt us." Shuri said making her way to the medbay where Sam was.

"You got it. The rest of us will wait in the common room. Just let us know when you're done." Steve replied.

While the others went to the common room, Ayo and Okoye went to check on Bucky. When they got to her and Sam's room, Ayo knocks on the door.

"Steve if that's you, go away. I want to be left alone." Bucky called out from the other side of the door.

"We are not Captain Rogers, White Wolf." Ayo chuckled.

"Oh.....Hi, Ayo." Bucky replied.

"May we come in?" Okoye asked.

"....sure...." Bucky said quietly.

Bucky's pregnancy was something that stayed secret within the compound, so it was a bit of a shock to the warrior women.

"Bast be blessed! This was not what I was expecting when Steve told us that it's been a rough few months for you." Ayo said walking over to where Bucky laid in bed, sitting up against the headboard.

"What are you guys doing here?" Bucky asked, shifting slightly in discomfort.

"Princess Shuri is helping Sam recover his memories the same way she helped you with the command words." Okoye explained.

"Really? So, I'm gonna get my Sammy back?" Bucky asked smiling hopefully.

"Yes, the father of your child will be by your side in a few hours." Ayo nodded.

"Oh, this is great news! I'm so hap---...OW! Ah!" Bucky said, then yelped in pain, grabbing her stomach.

"What's wrong?" Okoye asked, concerned.

"I-I don't know...I just had a sudden jolt of pain, and...OH SH*T, there it is again!" Bucky groaned, breathing heavily.

Ayo and Okoye exchange concerned looks then turn their attention back to Bucky.

"White Wolf...I think you're in labor." Ayo said crouching at Bucky's bedside.

"REALLY!? NOW!?" Bucky screeched, freaking out.

Then, Bucky feels her water break, which confirms that she was, in fact, in labor.

"I'll go get Akinyi, Ekua, and Adisa." Okoye said before rushing out of the room.

"How the h*ll is the Dora Milage gonna help me right now!?" Bucky whimpered as a wave of pain hit her.

"We're not just warriors, White Wolf, we are also midwives." Ayo explained as she removed Bucky's metal arm.

Bucky was absolutely terrified...and in a lot of pain. Now that the day has finally come, Bucky's not so sure if she's strong enough to get through this. At this moment, Bucky wanted nothing more than to have Sam there by her side....but he isn't, and that is what terrifies her.
