Appendicitis

Bucky's POV

All day my poor little Sammy has had a stomach ache. He hardly ate or moved, it hurt so much. I felt kinda helpless, cause nothing I tried worked. Hopefully with some sleep he'll feel better.

"Night, babe." I said kissing him.

"G'night." Sam replied clutching his stomach.

I go to sleep thinking everything will be fine in the morning...boy was I wrong. At, like, two in the morning, I'm woken up by Sam groaning in sheer agony. When I turn to look at my boyfriend, I see that he looks absolutely terrible. He's curled up into a tight ball, and he's all sweaty and shaking.

"Sammy, are you okay, baby?" I asked him freaking out.

"No...s-something's wrong...I...I-I don't think this is a plain stomach ache." Sam told me while bawling like a four-year-old.

I cup his face and feel that he's extremely feverish. Then it hits me. How could I be so stupid? Abdominal pains and a fever! That's obviously got something to do with his appendix or something. D*mnit, how could I have not seen it?!

"Everything is gonna be okay, Sammy. Just stay calm." I said in a soothing tone.

I pick up my boyfriend and carry him to the med-bay. There, the tower's medical staff took him immediately into surgery. I sat outside the med-bay for about two hours. Then, the doctor comes out and tells me that Sam had appendicitis and that his appendix was removed just before it could burst.

"So, Sam is okay?" I asked.

"Yes, he's alright. He should be fully recovered in about a week." replied the doctor.

"Can I see him? Is he awake?" I asked the doctor.

"He's still asleep due to the anesthetics, but you can still go in there and be with him." answered the doctor.

After the doctor said I could go in there, I make a beeline for Sam's bedside. I sit in a chair and hold his hand, waiting for him to wake up. At six o'clock, my Sammy wakes up a little dazed and confused.

"How ya feeling, Sammy?" I ask him.

"A lot better. My stomach doesn't hurt as much. It was my appendix, wasn't it?" Sam replied yawning.

"Yeah, it was. I'm sorry I didn't consider this sooner, then maybe you wouldn't have been in so much pain yesterday." I answered.

"It's okay, babe. The both of us didn't think much of it. It's not your fault." Sam assured me.

I bend down and kiss Sam's forehead. For the week of his recovery, I never left his side and took care of him; like any good significant other should.
