Final Test
Disclaimer: I do not own RWBY. If I did I would have given Weiss a younger sister too.

Winter's POV
I can't believe he actually did it. (Y/N) completed nearly every task I had given him. He took inventory of the armory, found a place to display the sword, organized the student and faculty bios, and even got me coffee just the way I liked it (cream and five sugars). The only task that he did not complete was cleaning and repairing the arena. How did he even do all that in one day? Well, then I at least know he will be capable of doing any work that may be coming his way. After seeing all this I am honestly considering not giving him his final test. I mean he has shown his exceptional combat skills with the first trial and his ability to accomplish monotonous and challenging tasks why should I test him again? I lean forward and rest one my desk. Okay, maybe I will have this be his first mission as my lieutenant. I straighten up and use my scroll to contact my secretary. The screen is soon displaying the aged face of a chestnut haired woman.
"Miss Schnee what can I do for you, sweetie?" I smile at my little nickname. Even when she was Ironwood's secretary and I was just a student she would call all the girls "sweetie" and the boys "dear" like we all were her children. I have even overheard he call the general "dear" when she thought he was being too "high and mighty".
"Hello, Gabby would you mind calling up (Y/N) for me?"
"Oh, not at all sweetheart." She continues talking while typing. "Are you telling him that he has the job or are you wanting to ask him out before some else snatches him up?" Gabby gives me a side glance while wiggling her eyebrows.
"Gabby!" My cheeks heat up. "I just wanted to talk with him as his possible future employer. Must you really?" She laughs at this.
"Oh, I'm sorry sweetie I just couldn't help myself. Though you should be careful a nice and handsome boy like him will not stay on the market too long."
"Gabby!" She laughs again.
"Oh alright, I will stop for now." She finishes her typing and faces the screen again. "There all sent. Anything else sweetie?" I shake my head.
"No that's all. Thank you." She nods her head and I close the scroll shortly after. Letting out a sigh I think over what she said. (Y/N) is handsome and definitely skilled in most things. The likelihood of him staying single long is low if he already isn't taken... Straightening up I mentally slap myself for thinking that. He is your possible right-hand man and you are thinking of him like that? That is inappropriate and unprofessional. Besides, I don't even know what he is into... Stop it Winter! Stay professional. Just then the door opens revealing (Y/N) standing at attention.
"Permission to enter." Shaking my head I respond.
"Of course you can enter. I called you here after all." He steps into the room and stands at attention in the middle waiting for me to say or do something. His loyalty his admirable but I doubt even I am not this by the books. At least I hope I am not. "At ease soldier. No need to be so formal." He doesn't move. Perhaps this is just his normal behavior. "Alright well, I will just get straight to the point. I was going to give you three tests to see if you deserve this job but given how well you did with my last two test I am beginning to doubt the necessity of such a charge. Your skills are unprecedented and you are definitely capable of handling this job with little troubles. I am basically saying that you are hired." I wait for his reaction but his face remains frozen in its default state. "No reaction?" He stays there for a time before speaking.
"If I may ask what was the third trial that you wanted my to do?" Really? I told you that you got the job and the first thing you say to your new boss is to ask what else they wanted you to do. Pulling out a file from one of my desk drawers I stand up and walk over to him. Handing him the file I begin to speak again.
"Well, I made each task with a specific attribute in mind to evaluate. The first was obviously to test your fighting potential and the second was to see how you could do menial labor. This last trail was to test your skills as a hunter." (Y/N) is flipping through the file while I say all this. Then he stops on a page. If I am guessing right I know what exactly he stopped on. "As you can see I saved the best for last."
"I'll say." Shocked I look at him. No formalities and such casual speech, well casual for him that is. I smirk at this. Nice to know I can surprise him.
"But like I already said your skills have shown that this last test is not needed and, on review, I think it may be a little much. With how long it may take and how dangerous it may be to accomplish this task I am sure you would object to such a thing. Plus I am sure your girlfriend or boyfriend would also have some problems with this." Oh no. Why did I say that last part?! And he's straightening back up!
"I am willing to do it." There are a few minutes of silence before I speak.
"What?"
"I said that I am willing to do the mission ma'am. I have no objections and I do not have a girlfriend who would interfere in any way." I try to mask my excitement at that with feigned confusion.
"So you are willing to take on such a dangerous task?" He nods his head. I will let his silence slide this time. "Alright, then I suppose we should procure some back up for you and get you some new battlewear. We may need to get you another weapon as well." He shakes his head.
"I will be fine, ma'am. I just need a way to get to Vale and I will handle the rest." I grow confused for real at this.
"But you yourself agreed that this is a threatening mission to undertake." My voice takes a stern tone with the next sentence. "Pridefulness will not be tolerated as my assistant/lieutenant."
"As I said I will be fine with what I have once I reach the location." Shaking my head with frustration I respond.
"Fine then. There is a bullhead leaving for Vale in an hour. Dismissed." He salutes me and then makes his way out of the room. Sitting back at my desk I can't quite figure out what to feel. For one I now know that he is available. But again any happiness that would bring still conflicts with our jobs and my professionalism. And yet again I don't know whether to feel worried or angry over his decision to not take help. I mean capturing Roman Torchwick will be no easy task.
