5. "I know it's winter..."

Edmund turned another page of the book, the sound of paper scraping over paper the only noise in the empty library, except of the occasional sound of snow colliding with the window, but Edmund didn't notice all of this.

His eyes were focused on the letters forming words, building pictures in his mind.

These pictures were crushed very soon, when someone called his name.

His head snapped up, and for a second he didn't know where he was, but then he remembered sitting down in the library and reading, something like... He didn't remember when he sat down here.

"Ed?", someone called again, and this time he said:"Yes?"

Someone came running around the corner, and Edmund recognised her steps as Lucy's.
"How long have you been here?", she asked. "I've been searching for you forever!"

Edmund chuckled, with his head still in the book.
"I guess the book was just too good", he said, looking at the opened monstrosity.

"That is..a big book", Lucy said.
Edmund laughed. "Yes. Yes it is."

"Anyway", Lucy said, finally getting to her point.

"So, you know it's winter.."

Or maybe not.

"Yes, I know it's winter, Lu", Edmund answered.

"Well..."
"Come on, ask away."

"I wanted to ask if you're comfortable", she mumbled, looking at the ground.

"If I'm... What?"

"If you're...comfortable.. with the cold. And the possible snow. And...you know."

A smile slowly made it's way onto Edmund's face, and he took his sister's hand.

"Lu", he said, and she looked up.

"So far, I am comfortable, and if that changes, I'll tell you."

She smiled.
"So you can go on a walk with me?"

Edmund sighed, while Lucy started giggling.

"Yes, I can go on a walk with you."

The he jumped up, racing around the corner, yelling:"The first one outside wins a hot chocolate!"

"Hey!", Lucy screamed, immediately following him.
"That's unfair! You're older and you started sooner!"

"Then you should run faster", Edmund exclaimed, maybe slowing down a bit.
