Seventy-One
'Wait for the cue... Wait for the cue...'
"Okay... Go." The Church-Goer/Staff Member waved for us to go forward, and my dad and I started down the aisle. (😄😄😄😄😄)
The Pastor smiled to both of us, and from the look on Max's face I could tell he wanted to cry.
That's my dork.
I gave him a smile and he stepped down from the alter to have my dad join my hand in his, who also looked like he wanted to cry.
He forced a smile and shook Max's hand before putting my hand in his. Then Max walked me up to the alter and the music stopped.
The Pastor smiled, then sucked in a breath. (Get ready for long AF legal shit)
"Today we have come together to witness the joining of these two lives. For them, out of the routine of ordinary life, the extraordinary has happened. They met each other, fell in love and are finalizing it with their wedding. A good marriage must be created. It is never being too old to hold hands. It’s remembering to say I love you every day and it is not just marrying the right person its being the right partner. May we now have the rings?"
Ashley stepped up and gave the pastor my wedding band and Ross did the same.
He nodded to them and continued reading. "The ring, an unbroken circle, represents unending love. As often as either of you look upon these rings, may you be reminded of this moment and the love you have promised to one another. Max, please place this ring on (Y/N)’s finger and repeat after me."
Max took my left hand and pushed the ring on.
"(Y/N), I give you this ring."
"(Y/N), I give you this ring."
"As a symbol of my love."
"As a symbol of my love."
"And that I'm choosing to share."
"And that I'm choosing to share."
"My life's journey with you."
"My life's journey with you."
"I give you this ring."
"I give you this ring."
"With the pledge to love you."
"With the pledge to love you."
"Today, tomorrow, and always."
"Today, tomorrow, and-" The mic on his jacket started to ring from the feedback and he winced.
One the the staff members quickly ran up, reset the mic and tested it. When it worked correctly, gave a thumbs up to another person and rushed off the stage.
"Let's, uh..." The pastor cleared his throat. "Let's try that last line again. Today, tomorrow, and always."
"Today, tomorrow, and always."
I smile and take his ring from the pastor.
"(Y/N), please place this ring on Max's finger and repeat after me."
I nodded and pushed the ring on his finger.
"Max, I give you this ring."
"Max, I give you this ring."
"Today, tomorrow and-" Then my mic gave feedback.
Some of the crowd laughed along with us as a staff member ran up to fix my mic.
"Max and (Y/N), you have pledged your faith to each other in the company of your family and friends. By the power invested in me, the state of Vermont, and the American Marriage Ministries, I now pronounce you husband and wife. Max, you may now kiss your beautiful bride."
And he did.
And woo. Someone's ready to party hard.
"Family and friends, I am proud to present Mr. and Mrs. Maxwell Lapras." (DON'T SAY IT. I UNDERSTAND THAT HIS NAME IS LAPLUME.)
Everyone in the room stood up and clapped, while the entire groomsmen side of the bridal party started hooting and hollering.
We walked back down the aisle with the bridal party following and we lined up at the end of the hallway that led outside to the parking lot.
We greeted with everyone and told them where to go for the reception, then we had to take tons of pictures and pick up the ceremony hall.
Then the chill went down my spine when the bride and groom vehicles pulled up.
"Why are there two separate vehicles?" Max asks, gripping my hand.
"Your dad didn't tell you?" I ask.
"Tell me what?"
"About the separate arrival tradition."
"Oh that. I didn't think we were actually doing it."
"Well my mother already arranged for it."
He shrugged and I pecked his lips. "I'll see you there."
He nodded and went to get into the backseat of the car after Ross.
"Max," I held the skirt of my dress up off the ground.
He stopped and looked at me, a slightly confused look on his face.
"Be careful. Please."
He nodded, gave me a wink and got in, closing the door.
I stood there for a second, mentally praying he'd get there when I would.
"(Y/N)! Let's go! Everybody's wait for us up at Signal!" Ashley says, looking at me from inside the car.
I nodded and got in, letting out a sigh as all four vehicles pulled out.
Pretty soon we were all separated from each other on the highway.

The bridesmaid's, groomsmen and I were the first ones to get there. There was some traffic holding Max's vehicle back.
So we were standing outside of the back exit in the cold, waiting for the manager to let us in.
When he finally did it was 20 minutes later and the traffic still hadn't let up.
Five minutes later, the manager came in with guy in charge of the four drivers.
"Is he here yet?" I ask, standing up.
"Yeah, Mason's getting hungry. I need to get some food." Alesa added, standing next to Adam, who had Mason in his arms.
"We can't get a hold of the driver." He says.
We all looked at each other. "What are you saying?" I ask.
"We've already called the sheriff's department. The vehicle's missing."
I swallowed hard.
"Max and Ross are missing."
