Forty-Nine - The More Things Change

So... I find out that Max has a girlfriend in reality...
Now I feel awkward about writing this thing.

BUT WHO CARES?! NOT ME.

Second Day with a Sick Max

"I am almost at the finish of the script for the first season." I answer Ian's question with some sincerity over the phone. "I'm still waiting for Jordan to get back to me on if he can do Karson, but other than that we should be good to go."

"Wait which Jordan are we talking about?" Ian asks.

"FearRaiser Jordan."

"Oooh. I thought you were talking about CaptainSparklez Jordan." (*fangirls a little bit*)

"No. I gave up on waiting for his email. That and when FearRaiser gave me a yes Sparklez replied to me and said he couldn't because of Mianite preparations." (I have no clue when Mianite is returning. Just roll with it.)

"Well that worked out in your favor."

I laugh slightly. "I guess it did."

The sound of coughing stopped me cold. "Hey, I gotta go. I have a sick Fiance over here. Call you when I can." I hung up before he could say anything else and ran to our bathroom.

And I find Max. Getting sick again.

I might as well sue the restaurant.

I put a hand on his shoulder, squeeze it and grab a washcloth and get it wet. Max shakes his head out and stands up slowly. I wipe his mouth and let him rinse it out as I look in and flush the toilet.

So much for dry toast. At this rate he might not be able to eat at all.

"Am I just gonna starve myself for a week?" He asks with a dry throat.

"No, I wouldn't make you do that." I walk him back to the bed and pull the blankets over him when he lays down. "There's one thing we can try."

"What's that?" Max takes a gulp out of his water bottle.

"My grandmother's chicken noodle soup. Homemade might settle your stomach." Then I realized something. "No, we can't do that."

"Why not?"

"My mom has the recipe. She got it in the damn will."

"Then ask her for it."

"She won't even speak to me, Max. She's still mad about the whole YouTube thing."

"(Y/N), she's gotta get over it eventually. And from what I've heard, she's one of those moms that hangs on even after the kid grows up."

I run a hand through my hair.

"Just try to at least."

"Alright. I'll be back in a sec. If you gotta, you know-"

"I know what to do, (Y/N)."

I sigh, kiss his cheek, grab my phone and go out onto the balcony.

And I dial the number.

And I hold my breath.

"Hello?"

"Mom?"

"Yes?"

"Can I ask you a favor?"

"I asked you one and you didn't do it."

"Can you please for once in my life just hear me out? I'm not calling about... that."

"Fine. What is it?"

"Do you, by any chance, have grandma's recipe for chicken noodle?"

"I'm not sure. What's it to you?"

"I... need it."

"If you can't tell me why, you don't need it."

"Okay, fine. Max is sick with food poisoning. His stomach won't hold dry toast, and I don't find something he can hold in it, I have to take him to the hospital. That's the last thing I want to do."

There was silence.

"Please? I don't want him to not eat."

She sighs. "Fine. Get a piece of paper and a pen."

I ran to the office, ignoring the fact that Tim was recording (he's using our office since his was flooded out last night), grabbed a piece of paper and pencil and ran to the kitchen and waited for the list to be given to me.

And she gave me the entire index card.

"Thanks, Mom."

"Sure."

We were both quiet for a second.

"How did Max get food poisoning, by the way?"

"Olive Garden. They served him raw shrimp scampi." I say nervously.

"Raw?"

"Yeah."

"What did they forget to cook it?"

"That's what it seemed like. He ate one and sent it back. His meal was two baskets of bread sticks and the rest of my alfredo since I was full."

"I'd sue if I were you."

"I'm tempted to. We just can't afford a lawsuit right now."

We talked for the entire time I was making the chicken noodle. It felt pretty good to talk to her. I didn't talk about work.

Ross came walking in through the front door as I was turning off the stove.

"Well, I'm gonna go give this to Max."

"Okay. Tell me how he does with it. It can cure colds, but I'm not so sure out food poisoning."

I chuckle. "Okay, Mom." Should I say it? ... Yes. "I love you."

There was silence. "I love you, too. Check in tomorrow?"

"I will. Bye."

I hang up and sigh. Ross was looking at me. "I guess everything went well."

"It did." I smile.

"What smells good?"

"Homemade chicken noodle soup. Made it to see if Max's stomach will hold it. You want some?"

"You bet I do. I missed my lunch break."

I grab four bowls and a ladle and pour some soup in a bowl. "Why?"

"Recording. And changing my skin completely."

"Completely? Why?"

"Changing the channel. The House_Owner channel is gonna change and I'm starting over."

"What are you changing it to?"

"'YourPalRoss.'" (Heeeere we go.)

"Oh. That's cool." I hand him the bowl and spoon and start another one. "Max was talking earlier about his channel. He was on his laptop making some kind of animation or whatever."

"He didn't tell you?"

"Tell me what?"

"He's considering leaving the office to start recording for his channel. Talked a lot about Undertale and Minecraft and even Crafting Dead." (HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEERE WE GO)

"No he never told me that."

"Guess he was waiting to tell you then." He stirred the soup a little. "You won't get mad at him, will you?"

"No, of course not." I put a spoon in the bowl and go to the next one. "Why would I get mad him?"

"No reason; Some people don't like change."

"I've been through a lot of changes. My parents, moving, my channel, I got through it." I finish the bowls and get a serving tray out. "And I'll support you and Max 100% of the way."

Tim comes out of the office and stretches. "Mm. What smells good? I smell broth."

'Chicken Noodle soup. You want some?"

"Hell yeah I do.'

We ended up eating in our room (Mine and Max's); all four of us. We just watched movies.

And, Max didn't get sick.

Now I just gotta figure out breakfast for him.

Well lookie there. Things are turning up!

As for me...

This will probably be the only update you guys will see for a while. I have seven weeks until school starts and I can't get my Workers Permit until then.

No Workers Permit = No job
No job = No money coming in
No money coming in = No device to update on
No device to update on = No updates for this or anything else

Yeah I really screwed up this time.

Ugh. I'm a horrible child.

I have to ALSO replace my 2DS, my tablet, my desktop computer, AND buy a laptop.

And my parents are no help whatsoever.

I currently have $30.

I'm about to loose $5 to replace my ear buds.

So $25.

UGH. WHY SIX WEEKS?! I WANT A JOB
