The Truth

Winter POV

I am freaking out because we have arrived at the Frozen Lake and there are other dragons here. The dragons looked at me pretty funny when I yelled.

Dragon1: Hey, you're stirring up the water, dude.

Dragon2: Yeah, try not to scare all the fish there, sweetheart.

Winter: Excuse me? Sweetheart?

(Y/n): Tug!

Tug: Hey! (Y/n)! Come here, look how big you're getting! Hahaha!

(Y/n): Hey Tug, have you seen my mom yet?

Tug: No. As a matter of fact, I haven't seen her.

(Y/n): Haha! Me and my friend, Winter, beat her.

Tug: *looks at me confused* She's with you?

Winter: *unenthused* Hi. *dragon tries to sniff me* Hey! Back off.

I flicked the dragon with my tail to make him back off, Tug then approaches me.

Tug: Huh? I've never seen you here before. Where are you from?

Winter: I'm new to this part of the Tundra.

(Y/n): You see, Winter. There's the mountain just like I promised. The lights touch the top every single night.

Winter: Yes, so it is. *to Tug* Can you give us a moment?

I nudge (Y/n) away from the others and tell him.

Winter: I appreciate your help, but I've got to get going.

(Y/n): Well, when you come back, we can-

Winter: I'm sorry, but... I won't be coming back.

(Y/n): What? Why not?

Winter: Well- You see, it's really hard to explain.

Tug: You're leaving?

Winter: Ahh! Um, well, yes, it's just, I don't belong here.

Dragons: Don't belong?

Tug: Every dragon belongs here. *other dragons start laughing and having fun* Let's have some fun!

I was then coerced into trying to catch fish at the thawing lake, but because I'm still not used to how slow and bulky my body now is, I was unable to catch but a single, but very large, fish. Despite that, I actually had fun, especially with (Y/n) wanting to spend the entire day with me. Eventually, evening closed in and the dragons are tossing around half a fish and whoever catches it has to tell a story of something they did this year. (Y/n) tried many times to catch the fish and I couldn't help but giggle and blush to myself at his high energy antics, until the fish hit me in the face.

Winter: *giggles* Here you go, (Y/n).

(Y/n): You've got to tell it, Winter.

Winter: Huh?

Tug: That's right Winter. You caught it. You tell it.

(Y/n): Didn't you play this game when you were a hatchling?

Everyone then starts cheering me on and finally I give in.

Winter: Okay. Alright, alright. You want to know what I did this year?

Everyone: Yeah!

Winter: I went on the longest, most exhausting journey with the biggest pain in the neck I've ever met. *(Y/n) looks at me with some concern* But what do you expect from the cutest kid around. *rubs (Y/n)'s head to cheer him up*

(Y/n) nuzzled my cheek causing me to blush a little.

Winter: Okay buddy. Your turn. *tosses (Y/n) the fish*

Tug: Let's hear it, (Y/n).

(Y/n): Okay, here we go. Ahem, this year I watched my mom in a life or death struggle against all odds with undoubtedly the feircest creature on the face of the earth. Okay, who's next?

Winter: Whoa, what?

Tug: Wait, wait, wait, wait a minute. I think we all want to hear the rest of that one, (Y/n).

(Y/n): I thought you might say that. Hmm, let's see. It was probably the fifth or sixth coldest day I had ever faced, my mom and I were eating having a great time, when she pushed me into the rocks and told me to be real quiet. She says "I smell something", so I started sniffing. *imitates sniffing* There was something in the wind swept snowstrom coming right towards us, getting closer and closer. When, out of the snow, jumps a Huntress!

I slightly gasp that (Y/n)'s mother faced down a Huntress.

(Y/n): And now there's nowhere for mom to go, the monster has her backed up against a mountain range.

My heart suddenly sinks when I hear this eerily familiar setting as I think back to my fight with the dragon the day I was transformed.

(Y/n): The monster attacks, mom's too quick for her and before she can do it again, she stood up real big and roared, "Go away!" Surprisingly, the monster didn't back away and used some sort of powers to throw ice grimm at her.

I was mistaken this is my fight with the dragon, and it was (Y/n)'s mother I was fighting-

(Y/n): Mom then decided to lead the monster away from me and headed into the mountians to try and shake them.

And I killed her. My heart starts beating erraticaly and I start panicking a little.

(Y/n): Winter? What's the matter Winter?

Dragon: (Y/n), what happened next? Was she alright?

(Y/n): It'll take a lot more than a single Huntress to stop her.

I can't take it anymore and get away from the crowd and run pretty far from the lake.

(Y/n): I'm sure she's fine, but that's how we got seperated. Right after that I met Winter. *looks around* Winter?

I make it to a single rocky cliff and look at the mountain and back at the lake.

Winter: What have I done? *tears start falling*

I feel like I'm being torn apart but without any physical torture being inflicted, but I think I finally understand why I'm like this, because I did something so horrible out of hate and it made the sweetest kid I've ever met into an orphan. I pace for several hours and keep to myself until the next evening.

Winter: *thoughts* I know he'll hate me, but he deserves to know.

(Y/n): Rah! *jumps on my back* Scared you again, huh? *chuckles*

Winter: *depressed* Yeah.

(Y/n): Where have you been? You look aweful.

Winter: (Y/n).

(Y/n): My mom says if you eat too much, you should just lie down.

Winter: *sits up* (Y/n).

(Y/n) sits next to me, and I decide now's as good a time as any.

Winter: There's something I-uhm. Y-You know story you told me last night?

(Y/n): Yeah.

Winter: Well, I-I have a story to tell you.

(Y/n): Really? What's it about?

Winter: Well, it's kinda about a human, and kinda about a dragon, but mostly it's about a monster. A monster, who did something so bad, that the spirts came down. There was wind a-and lights, and they pulled her up high into the sky. And she came down again, she had been changed into a dragon.

(Y/n): *amazed* Whoa!

Winter: Only she didn't know anything about being a dragon. How to walk, how to drink, how to fish.

(Y/n): Just like you. Hehehe! *jumps into my lap*

Winter: Lucky for her, there was a little hatchling that taught her all those things. And a lot more. *hugs (Y/n)* A dragon she'd do anything for, like a.....

(Y/n): Like a mom? *hugs tighter*

I set (Y/n) down and walk a few feet away.

Winter: (Y/n). *voice starts to break* I did something very wrong.

(Y/n): What did you do, Mama?

Winter: *sniffles* I... I killed the dragon. *tears start falling again*

(Y/n): *starts getting emotional* I-

Winter: (Y/n).

(Y/n): I don't like this story.

Winter: Your mother's not coming.

(Y/n): No.

Winter: I didn't know.

(Y/n): No!

Winter: I swear I didn't know. *(Y/n) runs away* (Y/n)!

3rd Person POV

Distraught with grief, (Y/n) runs away and from the person who killed his mother, he took cover in a small opening in the rocks and started crying to himself. Suddenly, Winter's voice is heard outside, she is clearly searching for him.

Winter: (Y/n)! (Y/n)..... (Y/n), I wish I could.... I mean, if there was some way I.... I-I'd give anything to... I just.. *depressed sigh*

Winter pulls away her paw from the snow and sees her dragon footprint, after a moment staring at it she grazes the snow with her claws and makes the print into a human hand print.

Winter: I'm sorry, (Y/n). I'm so sorry.

Winter walks away crying heavily towards the mountain where the lights touch the earth, her head hanging low, her tusks scraping across the ground, feeling the true weight of what she has done and why she's here in the first place. She let her anger towards her father tear her family apart and she took it out on a dragon that was protecting it's own child from her anger. How is she supposed to make up for that?

(A/N): End music here.

(A/N): *sniffles* Oh! Cut! That was an emotional train ride that kept going faster and faster. NO, I'm not crying, you are! *sniffles*
