Chapter 13

"What do you mean we need to leave?" Izora asked. Cynthia turned her attention towards the brunette. "I mean we need to leave before we become slaughtered pieces of flesh." Celian sighed. "Okay, calm down, all we need to do is get as far away from here as possible." He said, opening the door, letting the moon's bright light shine it's way through.

The sudden rumble of some sort caused the four to stagger all around. A loud yet deep howl could be heard a little too close. Finally able to gain his stance, Celian slammed the door shut. "Okay, so leaving might be a bad idea now..." Cynthia scoffed. "Everyone, come with me." She said sternly, ascending up the stairs, the trio behind her.

As they reached the room hall, Cynthia bent down and pulled one of the floorboards apart, revealing multiple blades as well as viles filled with potions. Scanning around them, she finally picked up a sharp spear point blade and placed the floorboard back to it's original position.

Standing up, she walked passed the confused faces and straight to the door. "Where the hell are you going?" Izora pressed, her voice a bit more concerned. Cynthia simply opened the door. "Getting you guys out of here before he comes." Celian closed his eyes for a moment, he knew what she meant.

"Listen." He started, "Before you do anything drastically stupid, we all have to leave." His sister turned her head and stared at him with an expression Adeline couldn't make out. Fear? Maybe, it was it Determination. Either way, the blue haired girl reluctantly sighed and walked out of the house.

Celian looked at Adeline. "Come on, there's a higher ground we can try and get to before they get here." At that moment, the princess felt unusually vulnerable as she gazed at smaller figure walking farther into the night. She wanted to know what was wrong, what was even going on, at least. But, the least she could do was walk with the two beside her into the night.

Izora unconsciously grabbed her hand, the princess squeezing slightly. Adeline smiled at the feeling, turning to her friend, only to find her more interested in the trees at her side. She finally came to a halt, causing both Adeline and Celian to grow concerned.

"Izora?" Adeline asked, shaking her hand a bit. Izora made no effort to respond, her brown eyes now a glowing cian blue. Adeline gasped at the sight, alerting Celian to realize as well what was going on. Adeline began to shake her friend, desperately trying to get her out of whatever trance she was in.

While doing so, her eyes met with another cian glow, deep in the woods beside her. Celian stood in front of the two girls, pulling a small dagger out of his waist bag. Whatever was in the woods obviously felt no fear for the sharp object. As it crept closer, Celian held no feeling of fear, gripping his knife bravely.

The unknown creature crept closer, it let its form be known in the bright moonlight. Its wolf like body tensed with every breath. The gruff fur around its body stuck out in all corners and looked as sharp as the dagger.

Adeline held her friend close to her, allowing her to protect the defenseless girl. The wolf like creature growled deeply, glaring at the two guarding Izora. At once, it pounced at them in hunger and detest. The male prepared to strike at the beast only for another to pierce through its neck.

It halted in its tracks for half a second, and fell to the ground, lifeless and without a purpose. Celian and Adeline stood there, eyes wide. Turning to the source, the were met with a breathless Cynthia, who looked at them with both annoyance and worry.

"From now on, we walk beside each other." She stated. Feeling a heavy force on her shoulder, the princess turned to Izora who groaned at the movement of her body. "Izora!" She exclaimed, as she hugged her friend who simply made a sound of contentment, feeling incredibly drained.

Cynthia smiled softly at Izora, her smile only dropping as she pulled out the bloodied knife from the wound it had caused in the dead creature. The red liquid dropped off of the blade and onto the grass below.

As she looked away from the creature, she stared at the forest from where it had come from. An uneasy feeling made its way through her head, almost pulling her away from the dark forest ahead. A low chuckle caused her to flinch. "It's been awhile hasn't it, Cynthia." A deep, hoarse voice grumbled.

The said female backed away, as the voice grew closer, a figure joining. Celian noticed his sister's stiff posture, his eyes furrowing. "Cynthia?" He called, already walking over to her. He only stopped when he came face to face with him.

The grim fellow smiled smugly, pleased that his presence caused a disturbance in the atmosphere. Adeline, who had noticed the unwanted man, stood in front of Izora out of instinct from the previous events. She stared at the old and withered man, the two locking eyes.

He smile widened, his black haired beard scrunching along with it. "Well, look who we have here, your a pretty thing aren't you?" He said attempting to walk towards the princess, only to be blocked by both twins. Chuckling at the action, he held his hands up in surrender. "I only want to have a little chat, it has been a long while." He said.

Adeline scowled at him in utter disgust. Yet, her anger only seemed to please him even more. "Leave, Remulus." Celian said sternly. The so called Remulus turned to him. "First name now, huh," He taunted, "No more Daddy Dearest?" Adeline's eyes widened while Izora let out a soft gasp.

Remulus eyed the two girls with malicious intent. "Oh, did I ruin the surprise? My bad, guys." He said, placing a hand over his chest in an "apologetic" manner. "Well, I was going to kill whoever killed my Viperon, but, since it's my favorite two kids in the whole wide world, let's do that a lot more slowly."

He held up his hand in a snapping motion. "Shall we?" He asked, and with that, everything went black.
