*Sigh....* "Let's see here, how about this old classic."

We've heard the story of the Two Brothers like a million times already! Do you have something else?

"You kids are hard to please aren't you....." *Digs through bag* "How about this? Any of you heard of the Tale of the Grey Queen before?"

No...

Gray queen. What's that?

A glint of surprise passed through the man's yellow pupils as he sat the book down on the desk. While he had been expecting to have heard a few no's here and there, a part of him deep down still felt the shock and surprise that none of them had ever heard of it. He was only acting as a temporary substitute for the class until the teacher got back, despite originally coming up to the Pokémon School as part of a show and tell.

Brushing his black locks from out of his eyes, the young man flipped open the book and cleared his throat. This story had always been a bit of a favorite of his to tell despite the story being one of the relatively obscure ones. The male knew quite a lot about it, as if he had witnessed it transpire with his own two eyes.

"Well then... Let me tell you a tale that not many think of when they hear the stories of Ancient Unova. A tale of heartbreak, betrayal, and how a simple act of kindness tore a family apart. This is the tale of the Grey Queen.

"Long ago when these lands were known as Vale there lived a king. You may know of him from the tale of the two brothers and you would be right as he is the same king from that tale. Outside of his twin sons, he and his dear wife would go on to bare a third child. A little girl and the princess of the kingdom.

Her eyes were a bright yellow like the winter sun and her hair a silvery grey. Unlike her brothers, she was different. For she had the ability to speak with Pokémon.

Because of this gift, her parents feared what the villagers would think of her so they chose to keep any knowledge of her existence a secret and kept her isolated from the outside world. She was allowed to leave the castle grounds on the terms that she would not reveal her secret to anyone.

Because she didn't interact that well with other people, the young princess spent most of her time in the castle's enclosed garden where she would hand out with the wild Pokémon that lived there. She had managed to befriend them thanks to her gift during a time where relations between humans and Pokémon weren't at their strongest.

In particular, she was mostly drawn to her family's familiar, the Original Dragon.

It was like there was some sort of special connection between the two. While the creature obeyed and respected the other members of the royal family, it was no where near the level it displayed to the little girl.

The dragon treated her as she were it's own offspring. From how gentle it was while handling her when they played to even allowing her to sleep upon it's back. Her father and brothers were at a loss for words on how to describe the two's friendship.

Many years would pass and the king along with his children would grow older. His sons grew into two fine young man and his daughter into beautiful young maiden.

One day, the king grew deathly ill. On his deathbed, the dying monarch passed his power onto his twin sons but warned them not to abuse it. Not long afterwards, he passed on.

The Kingdom of Vale fell into mourning over the loss of their beloved king but placed hope in his two sons to lead them.

Unfortunately, the two brothers would begin to argue over their beliefs, causing the original dragon to split into two others that would side with either brother. This resulted in the kingdom being plunged into a war, dividing the once peaceful kingdom into three separate factions.

At the center of the two warring factions sat the remains of the original kingdom, a neutral party that would be known as the Central Kingdom.

Since there was no one else to take the throne, the princess rose to power as Queen of the Central Kingdom. She managed to negotiate with her brothers and put a hault to their fighting, ushering in another era of peace.

At some point in time, the young queen would meet and fall in love with a traveling helmsman after rescuing him from a storm. The two would marry and settle down in a manor deep within the forest when she wasn't dealing with her royal duties.

The man would continue his job as a sailor and ship captain, meaning that he and his dear queen rarely saw each other. She would eagerly await his return and enjoyed his tales of foreign regions that he had travels to.

Yet one harsh winter all of that would change.

Her dear husband was supposed to have returned that day but he didn't show. That night, the queen ventured out into the blizzard and found him laying in the snow.

She rushed to his side and pulled him into her arms. The queen tried everything she could to warm him up but nothing worked as like the snow outside, her own hands were just as cold. Looking up into his bride's eyes, the traveling man exclaimed his love and died in her arms.

The young queen was heartbroken as she cried all alone in the snow. Frost prickled up the places where she held his form as she brought him home. He was laid to rest in the manor's garden.

Even though he had left this world. He had managed to bare her two children, a son and daughter. Both of whom had inherited their mother's power to speak with Pokémon.

Yet they weren't the only ones with gift as the Queen would find out one spring day.

She had chosen to take a stroll through the woods when she came across a little boy and a group of Pokémon.

Asking if he was lost, the boy shook his head, explaining that he lived within the forest with his "friends". He explained that the villagers viewed him as some sort of "freak of nature" for his ability to understand Pokemon which resulted in him being shunned from society.

The queen felt bad for the child. She explained that she possessed the same powers and offered to take the child under her care. The boy accepted and the queen brought him home.

She raised the boy as if he were one of her own and despite all the love and compassion she gave him, the boy would turn against those who loved him out of pure greed and lust for power. Overthrowing the queen and taking the throne for himself and forcing the queen's children into hiding. Her son was taken under the wing of her advisor, a mage by the name of Lumina Achroma, while her daughter chose to stay behind under the guise of a simple maid in order to protect her mother.

The tyrant in power would try to invade the other two kingdoms and attempt to restore the original dragon as a whole but would be stopped by the Queen's children. In a last ditch effort to finish them off, the boy would order the Dragon to finish off his adopted siblings only for the Queen and her advisor to step between them. Resulting in the demise of the latter to weaken the dragon and the former to be sealed with the Husk's body, bloodthirsty for revenge against the one who had tricked her and her family.

The Queen's children were also sealed into a state of slumber in which that they would remain in for years to come, unable to age and safe from any harm.

Following the incident, fighting once again broke out between the brother which resulted in the destruction of all three kingdoms. Out of the aftermath, the adopted child of the Queen would once again rise to power and unite the broken region into one.

This would be the start of the Harmonia bloodline.....

Though there's a legend that the Queen cursed the young Harmonia right before she was sealed away, causing each generation of his heirs to suffer from some sort of misfortune. Some say that there will be one who will break the cycle. Though there are even some who claim that the Queen and her children will reawaken one day.

"How do I know that?" The young man said to himself so that no one in the classroom could hear him.

"Because the Queen was me and my sister's mother....
