Chanyeol was sitting on his living room couch with his computer in his lap, searching through a real estate site when his sister skipped into the room. She hopped into the couch beside him, her mood exceptionally perky as she smiled and leaned over his shoulder to see what he was going. Chanyeol rolled his eyes with a faint grin at her nosiness before he muttered, "Do you mind? You don't have to know everything I'm doing."
Yoora laughed and leaned into the cushions as she asked, "Why are you looking at real estate?"
Chanyeol just pursed his lips and muttered, "I have my reasons . . ."
Yoora frowned and her smile slowly slipped away as she asked, "Are you buying a house, because if you are that'll be really expense, and truthfully, I don't think you need one. You have this place with Sehun, and the rent is perfect. Why would you ever want to leave and buy a house?"
Chanyeol laughed and rolled his eyes as he replied, "Maybe because I don't want to live in a bachelor pad my whole life? And Yoora, it's okay, I'm just planning for my future . . ."
"You're too young to be buying a house, Chanyeol. And if it's because you're unhappy here, move in with me, I won't even make you pay rent," Yoora said hopefully with a smile.
Chanyeol just laughed again and replied, "I can't live with my sister!" Chanyeol rolled his eyes. "And besides, if I ever planned on moving it would have to be a house. I mean, I'm going to want a family...."
"I'm your family," Yoora whispered.
Chanyeol glanced at her curiously and muttered, "I know . . . I'm just saying I want a place for my husband and children some day."
"Which is something better to have in the future, not when you're dating and having fun," Yoora said.
"Why are you acting so weird?" Chanyeol asked.
"I'm not!" Yoora said almost immediately, and then she bit her bottom lip and mumbled, "I mean.... Um, Chanyeol, I . . . I know," she whispered.
Chanyeol frowned. "You know about what?"
"I know about Baekhyun and the . . . baby," she whispered.
Chanyeol's eyes widened and he pushed the computer away as he asked, "H–how did you.... When did you figure it out?"
Yoora smiled thinly and lied as she said, "When we had dinner, I noticed he didn't drink any of the wine I brought, and then he was sick and I just....put two and two together . . ."
Chanyeol squeezed his eyes shut before softly muttering, "Shit, I didn't want you to find out like that. I wanted to tell you, and I even thought about doing it that night but then Sehun came home and I—-I just couldn't say anything with him being right there . . ." Chanyeol muttered.
Yoora nodded with a thin smile as she muttered, "I know, but Chanyeol, I . . ."
"You what?" Chanyeol asked.
Yoora bit her bottom lip before taking a deep breath, she grabbed Chanyeol's hand and said, "I think it's a mistake." The room fell silent then, and Chanyeol could hardly breathe much less speak as Yoora continued on talking. "I'm sorry to say this, and you know I'll do anything to protect you, so when I say this I don't want you to get mad at me. I just need you to listen to what I have to say...." Yoora trailed off and took a deep breath before continuing. "I don't think you can see the situation properly. I think your blinded by your need to do the right thing, which for you is....taking care of someone who is just using your kindness for themself. I don't think—-"
"You think Baekhyun is just using me?" Chanyeol whispered.
Yoora nodded and softly muttered, "Yes, I do."
Chanyeol couldn't help himself when he suddenly laughed and cried, "Yoora, stop it! I'm an adult now, and no matter how much you chose to not accept that doesn't change the reality of it. I'm twenty-six years old, Yoora, you need to stop treating me like I'm that eleven year old boy you had to take care of after mom and dad died! I know how to take care of myself even despite what you might think, and I don't need you to fight my battles!"
"But you're wrong, Chanyeol, and I won't let you ruin your life when it's barely even begun! You can't stay with him! Yes, you think you love him, but you thought you loved them all and you didn't! You're too young to know what you want and I know you won't want this."
"But I do!" Chanyeol yelled. "I want this so badly, Yoora, it keeps me up at night just thinking about it! I've made mistakes before —- plenty of them —- but I know with every fiber of my being that Baekhyun and my baby aren't one of them!"
"It's not even your baby, Chanyeol!" Yoora screamed. "He doesn't know who the father is, and he would have used Sehun but he found you instead! You're too sweet and innocent to see pass his façade but I do and he's just using you! So stop being an idiot already and leave him!"
Chanyeol gasped. "How do you . . . how do you know the baby might not be mine?"
Yoora blushed, and her fire burned out as she regretfully replied, "Sehun, he . . . he told me. I know everything, Chanyeol."
Chanyeol felt like someone had just punched him in his gut, and he swallowed roughly before hoarsely muttering, "I can't leave him. I love him, Yoora." And then he slowly stood up as he quietly continued, "And you better accept that, or I won't be able to bring myself to ever forgive you, and you know I don't want to live my life hating you. So figure out your shit, and please, leave me out of it." Chanyeol said as he grabbed his computer before leaving the room.
He walked to the door slowly, as if in a daze, and pulled on his coat as tears streamed down Yoora's cheeks. "Ch–Chanyeol, where are you going?" she weakly asked.
"I'm going to stay with Baekhyun. Bye, Yoora," Chanyeol said before he shut the door behind him.
Yoora breathing hitched and she sobbed as she sunk into the couch. Maybe she was wrong, but she didn't understand her brother's desires, so how could she even decide what was right? She continued to lay on the couch as her tears dried salty lines onto her cheeks, and when she received a message she texted them back that they would have to reschedule. She lost the first battle, but she would try again and again until the world began to make sense.
She loved her brother, and if he decided to choose a boyfriend and baby over her, she would fight for him and continue to fight until she emerged victorious.
