𝗪𝗘𝗟𝗖𝗢𝗠𝗘 𝗧𝗢 𝗪𝗜𝗡𝗧𝗘𝗥

Just like Wattpad itself, we shall also have our own Wattys within our HamilCommunity!

Headed by our lovely team of admins, ambassadors, and judges, we hope to spread and unite this community through our shared love for fan fiction.

The HamilWattys is a fan fiction competition amongst writers of Hamilton fan fictions, no matter the genre, ship, or maturity. Everyone has a chance to win prizes and awards, and let us not forget the awards stickers we all are familiar with.

The HamilWattys span for three months, and this January to March, we shall be executing the Winter HamilWattys.

𝗥𝗨𝗟𝗘𝗦

𝟏) 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐛𝐨𝐨𝐤𝐬 𝐦𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐟𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐨𝐫 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐬, 𝐢𝐟 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐝:

--We urge every single one of the participants to finish and mark their book as complete before January 2020 since the chances of a completed book are higher than an incomplete book. However, you can still enter a book despite being incomplete, as long as it has 5 or more chapters published.

𝟐) 𝐅𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐬 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐨𝐡𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐲 𝐢𝐧 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐲:

--When writing the form we urge everyone must type in a single comment and must be free of typing errors. This will help us with the entries and quick admittance.

𝟑) 𝐄𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐟𝐚𝐧𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐲𝐞𝐭 𝐜𝐨𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐨𝐫𝐲:

--Let's say you want to nominate a/your book to a specific category like Historical, yet it's an xReader, we may suggest entering it in the xReader category rather than the historical category so that not only will other books may enter a category you may take but also have a higher chance of winning in another category.

𝟒 ) 𝐃𝐨𝐧'𝐭 𝐛𝐞 𝐫𝐮𝐝𝐞:

--Especially when it comes to seeing works that you are not agreeing with. Everyone has their own preferences, hence the multiple categories, and we hope to cater to all of them. Any act of aggression will not be tolerated.

𝟓 ) 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐦𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐛𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐄𝐧𝐠𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐡 𝐋𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐮𝐚𝐠𝐞: 

--The universal language is English, and so most of us would be speaking in said language. There may foreign language in your work, of course, since we have multilingual/bilingual characters, although you must have translations within the chapter or within the line in the in-line comment.

𝗖𝗢𝗡𝗧𝗘𝗡𝗧 𝗚𝗨𝗜𝗗𝗘𝗟𝗜𝗡𝗘𝗦

There are certain rules to the HamilWattys as we have just covered, and there are also certain rules to the content of your works. We also have the right to deny your place in the HamilWattys if they do not follow the content guidelines.

-𝙈𝙖𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙞𝙩𝙮. Works that have sex scenes, gore, and extreme vulgarity such as slurs and triggering scenes are immediately under the Mature Category. Nothing Else. Alternative Category would be Horror/ Mystery/ Dystopian depending on the content.

-𝙄𝙣𝙖𝙘𝙘𝙪𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙚 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝘼𝙘𝙘𝙪𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙚. Do not get triggered and/or attack certain works under the Historical, Fandom, and Musical Categories. Any significant differences as we are all familiar with are directly applicable to the respective categories. If incorrect submission to these Categories occur, we will PM you to discuss alternative Categories.

-𝙎𝙝𝙞𝙥. NON-ENTERABLE SHIPS/ WORKS INCLUDE: Incest and Pedophilia. Please understand any corrections with the type of ship you enter; we will contact you through PM to discuss why is your book non enterable based on the ship of the book.

Our fellow judges will stay anonymous and must keep their anonymity.

𝗖𝗔𝗧𝗘𝗚𝗢𝗥𝗜𝗘𝗦

There are fourteen categories to enter your work. The only works that would be judged are the ones that are entered into a valid category; the categories with an asterisk (**) can be entered, but are not strictly within the entered books, if anything, the books you enter here are practically recommendations for the category ( the Judges have the right to anonymously decline or neglect stories within these categories with an asterisk as these categories are non-enterable and essentially opinionated ).

These are things to know about when entering categories:

Validation | You must be sure of what your book contains and what category is much more applicable to them. If you have difficulty deciding, you may ask help from the ambassadors within this in-line comment.

Ship Category | Please be kind with the choices we made for this category, as we have been struggling with the compatibility of the ships with the judges, as we have asked them of what ships they are comfortable judging; the ships that made the cut are what have been displayed below; if you want a ship to be enterable that we missed, we may end with a decision to place it for the next HamilWattys if the judges decides to do so and if it meets the guidelines.

Nomination | Nominations are entries from the reader of the entered book, essentially, a suggestion, although a consideration. The only time a work would be officially entered to a category, and the contest, would be if the author has entered it, hence the difference between nominations and entries.

Depravity | Works which are too dark or mature will not be able to enter; you may enter at first to try and see if our judges would be able to take it, yet if no one would be able to judge your work due to the depravity within it, we would not let it enter. Please respect this choice.

Judges | We only have three judges under one category, save the non-enterable categories, so please do take note of the weight of the situation; currently, we do not have enough judges, and some categories don't have judges yet; we want to be able to cater to everyone's interests and works, so please do respect our decision to stay anonymous.

Deadline | You can only change your entry once (1) after you've sent it, so please do decide wisely. After 24:00 EST January 31, late entries will not be included, and any other entry beyond the comment cut is invalid.

Reader's Votes | Readers are able to vote once (1+ in-line comment) for a work they want to vote for, one vote for every category. We would like to inform everyone that the voters must keep in mind what the category entails in which a work is most validated for their vote, hence, vote for the one which is most relevant and deserving of the category.

Amount | One person (1) can enter two (2) works into one (1)category of their choice. You may enter multiple categories. If we find out that you've used two separate accounts to enter several works into one category, both works will be invalid, and you must change your entry ( will be explained with the form ).

Here are the Categories:

( 𝑵𝒐𝒏-𝑺𝒉𝒊𝒑 )
--Under this category, we must see a basic story line with no actual romantic plot or subplot. The plot could be anything and can be set anywhere as long as there is no romantic plot or subplot.

( 𝑯𝒊𝒔𝒕𝒐𝒓𝒊𝒄𝒂𝒍 )
--In this category, the fan fiction is based on the historical figures and set in historical times. The musical figures and historical figures are different, so if you want to enter your fan fiction in this category, make sure that the characters' personalities are based on history, but your plot doesn't have to be historically accurate.

( 𝑭𝒂𝒏𝒅𝒐𝒎 )
--The character's here are different from the Musical and historical characters, wherein they do not follow accuracy within the Musical and historical timeline.

( 𝑴𝒖𝒔𝒊𝒄𝒂𝒍 )
--They are based from the Musical, Hamilton: An American Musical itself. The characters must have Musical Appearances and musical personalities. May contain head canon borrowed or adopted from the historical timeline.

( 𝑺𝒉𝒊𝒑 )
--Here we must see a romantic plot. Romantic subplots aren't allowed, the story must revolve around romance and the ship itself. Main ships include: Hamliza, Lams, Mullete, JeffMads, LaurLiza, Elams, Jeggy, Philidosia, Marliza, Jamilton, Laurloch, Laffdrienne, Meggy, Thomgelica, Laffgelica, Burrdosia, Meggy, Pheaker, HamLaff. If you don't see a ship here that you would like to enter, we're sorry but they couldn't be entered for the reason that our judges couldn't judge them or are not familiar with them or they are not comfortable with them.

( 𝑹𝒆𝒂𝒅𝒆𝒓 𝑰𝒏𝒔𝒆𝒓𝒕 )
--Here it must be a reader insert. It does not matter if it's a readerxcharacter as long as it's a reader insert.

( 𝑷𝒆𝒐𝒑𝒍𝒆'𝒔 𝑪𝒉𝒐𝒊𝒄𝒆! )
--This is anyone's category, as long as it follows the rules and content of the HamilWattys. The HamilCommunity, the readers, must vote for the book they chose to win this category. Judges will immediately become one of the readers. 

( 𝑶𝒏𝒆 𝑺𝒉𝒐𝒕 )
--These stories are basically one-shots wherein it literally takes one chapter to write them. If you would like to enter a one shot, please place them in a stand alone book for us to judge. One shots must have at least 1000 words.

( 𝑴𝒂𝒕𝒖𝒓𝒆 )
--Under this category are stories that are rated 18+ or marked mature by Wattpad. What falls under here are gore, sex, and violence.

( 𝑯𝒐𝒓𝒓𝒐𝒓/𝑴𝒚𝒔𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒚/𝑫𝒚𝒔𝒕𝒐𝒑𝒊𝒂𝒏 )
--Under this category are horror stories, mystery/thriller stories, and dystopian stories. Under dystopian are Zombie AUs, War AUs, and Futuristic AUs amongst others.

( 𝑨𝒍𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒏𝒂𝒕𝒆 𝑼𝒏𝒊𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒆𝒔 )
--Under this category are Alternate Universes whether original or adapted. Examples here are Soulmate AUs.

( 𝑱𝒖𝒅𝒈𝒆'𝒔 𝑪𝒉𝒐𝒊𝒄𝒆!** )
--It's our anonymous choice among any book we please, no matter what category it is or if it was entered. We have anonymous individual choosing and anonymous group choosing. One winner each kind of choosing. Each judge has their own choice to pick a winner for this category, hence they will stay anonymous when this is awarded.

--The Judges will grade based on writing style, grammar, plotting, and characterization. Three winners.

--The Judges shall grade based on plot and writing style. Three winners.
