Chapter 20: Who Is The Best Soulmate?
"Hello, we are BTS!"
All of us bow in unison towards the camera, giving bright smiles for the audience. Well, for the ones that will be watching once the video goes up. There's a little kitchen area set up, so I can only wonder how this is going to go.
"Do you guys have any idea of what you'll be doing today?" one of the staff asks, causing us all to shake our heads.
"You'll be playing a game we designed for you all just recently. We didn't want to get into any soulmate topics for our games until Jangmi had settled in, for we weren't sure how long it would have taken for her to bond with all of you."
"I'm willing to bet you guys were waiting for this," Jungkook says with a bunny smile, making the staff laugh a bit.
"Many fans have been asking, 'who is the best soulmate of Bangtan?'" One of the staff continues. "Today, we're going to be running a little test."
I hold back a groan as the others nod, some with intrigued expressions. This is a bit unfair, I think to myself immediately as one of them comes by with a little box. Asking us to figure out who is the best? We're all equal in that regard.
"Now, this is all in good fun, obviously you all are amazing for each other," they continue as if reading my mind. "With that, let's get started with the rules and how the game is going to go."
"Each of you is going to take turns drawing a name from the box. This is the soulmate you are trying to prove your knowledge of, for which you will gain points. You will have this name for all three rounds, and whoever has the most points at the end wins!"
All of us looked at each other with doubtful expressions, but the game begun before we had time to discuss what the fuck is going on. I give a light smile as I draw from a little box, one of the first to be chosen out of everyone there. "I got Jin-oppa~!" I announce, showing my paper to the rest of the boys.
"Accck! This is going to be so easy for you then!" Jin complains as he then draws his own. Each of the boys take their turns drawing, and the turn order ends up as follows:
Jimin-Lee
Lee-Jin
Jin-Hobi
Hobi-Taehyung
Taehyung-Yoongi
Yoongi-Jungkook
Jungkook-Namjoon
Namjoon-Jimin
"YAH! This is gonna be easy!" Jimin cries, jumping around the room and causing the rest of us to laugh at his excitement. The first round is quickly explained to us, and I can feel the color drain from my face. Oh you poor, poor mochi.
The first round is a cooking competition. Essentially, we'll be making our chosen soulmate's favorite food. The staff has a few sheets of paper with our preferences on it, and I know both Yoongi and Jin have this in the bag. Especially Jin, considering he is the master chef of the group.
That's why I'm worried for both Jimin and Yoongi, or their stomach's rather.
All of us gather at different spots of the makeshift kitchen, and I mentally wince as I look at the recipe for Jin. "I've never made lobster before!" I curse under my breath, though the staff did prepare everything we would need.
I had no idea this was his favorite, I think to myself. I should get in more practice when I have extra time. Maybe I should make a list of recipes and start doing more..
My inner turmoil continues as I do my best to follow the recipe, and I'll have to admit that I'm better at baking than cooking. I think most of the boys are just excited for the free food, as I see a couple of them goofing off a little bit away from me.
"Tajang! Tajang!" I blink a couple times as Jungkook makes his way over, pouting a bit. "Taajaaaaang, Namjoon-hyung got his Kimchi stuck to the pan I was going to use!"
I stifle my laughter as the maknae starts to fake cry, pulling him into my arms while trying to get a glance of what's going on. Namjoon looks like he's panicking as he scrapes the underside of his pan. Jimin's face is completely pale, probably realizing that he has to eat the stiff kimchi.
"Here Kookie, you can use my pan okay?" I offer, the maknae lifting his head from my chest to watch me pick up the pan I had set out. I got to the pots and pans first so I was able to choose one of the best, and really there were only five to choose from. "I can just figure out something else to use."
Jungkook gives me a bright bunny smile before taking the pan, planting a kiss on my cheek before hurrying off to finish his meal. I spent the rest of my time helping the others when something came up like that, I even was able to assist Namjoon in making his Kimchi salvageable!
However, that meant I never got to finish my dish. I recieved zero points for the first round, which didn't upset me as much as some of the boys. "I'm so sorry," Taehyung says while hugging the crap out of me. "If I hadn't spilled that steak sauce on myself, you would have been able to finish your task.."
"Aish, it's okay!" I reply with a laugh, though the rest of them don't look too convinced. Jimin had made honey orange chicken for me, and after giving my rating once I tasted it I gave the rest to Jin to finish off. The elder hadn't hesitated, knowing I would have insisted on it otherwise.
The second round was a quiz of five questions each of us came up with that our partner had to solve. Jimin pouted when he heard about it, since I could basically pull up anything I wanted as long as it was something I mentioned before.
"Alright Jimin, question one," I start, both myself and the mochi sitting across from each other. "Let's start off easy, what's my favorite movie?"
"Of course it's 'The Greatest Showman', Taylor!" Jimin says with a bright smile. "C'mon you just gave me a freebie there! You're making this too easy!"
I roll my eyes as I move onto the next question. I didn't want to make my questions too hard nor too personal, since many ARMY's will be watching this. "Alright then. You should remember the answer to this next one, we discussed it on a show a while back. What were the names of my first pets?"
"Princess Dorable her Royal Fuzziness and Haggis the Court Jester. We made jokes about it for a week after that! Until Yoongi made you cry, anyways."
"Hey, I didn't mean to say it out loud!" Yoongi yells, making me a laugh a little. That was back when I had trouble speaking, it seems like so long ago now.
"Question three. What instrument did I play in high school?"
"Uhh... piano?"
"Wrong! I played the marimba, silly goose!" Jimin pouts a bit as I move on. "Question four, what kind of cake did I bake for Gisselle's arrival when she moved here to Korea."
"AW COME ON!" The mochi cries, ruffling up his hair. "How am I supposed to remember something like that!"
"I thought you said I was making this too easy?" I respond with a sweet smile.
"Fine, was it red velvet? I feel like it was some kind of chocolate."
"Close, but not quite! Black forest was the correct answer, which just so happens to be one of Gisselle's favorites." I burst into laughter as Jimin frowns in frustration. Taehyung walks over to hug his true soulmate as I get to the final question. "Finally, what did you say my eyes reminded you of when I first arrived in Korea?"
To my surprise, the mochi reaches over to take my hand, pulling me out of my seat and towards him with a smile. "Chocolate," he says in a soft tone. "The rich, creamy expensive chocolate that melts in your mouth. How could I forget that day?"
And that kids, was the story of how I died.
Just kidding.
Kind of.
I sped through a good portion of this chapter after recovering from a bit of writers block. I'm so sorry it took so long to get this chapter up, but I can only write for chapters that I have inspiration for. Quality, not quantity for me. Thank you all so much for reading!
