Chapter 18: Training
"Yoongi?"
I quietly knock on his door, careful not to wake the rest of the members. It's well into the night now, we ended the party around nine so we could all get a good night's sleep for tomorrow.
That didn't exactly work out for me.
A few seconds pass before I hear a very faint "come in" from behind the door. Making sure I don't create any noise while doing so, I slowly turn the nob and open the door to his bedroom. The room is pitch black, which makes sense since it's almost midnight now.
"Guess he wasn't the only one who couldn't sleep," Yoongi says with his voice barely above a whisper. Despite the dim lighting I can still see the smile on his face, and I look down to find a sleeping Jimin with his arms wrapped around the older male.
"Sorry.. I was really hoping I wouldn't have to. I miss having the door in between our rooms though," I reply as I make my way towards the bed. "It felt so much more secure there... knowing that at least one of you was always right there."
"We still are, Tajang. It's only a few more feet away now. Whenever you need us, I guarantee that all seven of us will come running."
The little meow meow shifts a bit to make room for me, and I slowly slip under the covers while trying not to wake Jimin from his slumber. "I know, it's just that.. well.."
"It's because of that first incident, right?"
I blink a couple times before looking up at him, wondering how the hell he read my mind like that. Yoongi merely smiles before wrapping an arm around me and pulling me close.
"That was the time Jimin came through and kicked that guy's ass. I remember more so because of what happened after, but for legal purposes Namjoon used his ability to show us all what happened from yours and Jimin's perspective."
I close my eyes as I rest my head against his chest with a nod. "It was because that door was there that Jimin got to me as fast as he did. What if he had been a few moments slower? What could that man have done to me in that time?"
I shudder from the thought alone, as Yoongi gently runs his hand along my arm in comfort. "There's no point in worrying about the 'what ifs'," he says as Jimin shifts a bit in his sleep.
"What's important is that you're safe. But if you want, I'm sure you could ask to have doors installed in this new place. You did buy it after all."
"I kind of miss the old place, to be honest. Though there were many awful things that happened there, there were also so many wonderful memories we made. It was where everything started for me.. I wish we could go back.."
Yoongi presses his lips to mine for a moment, and a wave of comfort washes through me before he pulls away. "Yeah..." he starts as I bury my face in his chest once more.
"Me too."
I woke up early the next morning for my kickboxing lesson. The sound of my fists hitting the punching bag echoed through the gym, my trainer having left a few minutes ago to get some more water for us.
Sweat glistens from my skin as I switch to kicks, my knuckles beginning to sting from the amount of abuse I'm putting them through. Some of the sand in the bag starts trickling out, and with one more swing the bag itself pops off of the chain.
"Aw shit, how the hell did I do that?" I mutter to myself, looking down at my legs. They've gotten a lot more toned from the excessive workouts I've been doing. Actually, my entire body is pretty toned now that I think about it.
"You've been going at that bag pretty hard since you started."
My trainer walks in with a smile, holding up two large bottles of water. Park Dae-won, a man that was recommended to me by Manager Sejin, he sometimes works with the boys when he has the time. Now he's been assigned as my personal trainer.
"It was just an old bag I had lying around, it was bound to give out at some point. I'm happy that you're the one that caused it though, it shows how much you've improved."
"I don't feel much different than when I started," I admit with a sigh. I wish I could have done more for Jungkook back then, I think to myself. That's why I'm working so damn hard to get stronger. I was able to protect him, but just barely. I got lucky, that's all.
The boys are always going to be there to protect me, that much I'm sure. But what if they can't? What if a day comes when they struggle against someone stronger than them, all to keep me safe?
It'll be easier on them if I can protect myself too.
"Results don't happen overnight. But I think the amount of work you're putting in now is already paying off," Dae-won responds, picking up another bag with ease and placing it on the hook. "Now, how about we take five and get back to work?"
He tosses me the bottle of water, and I down the thing in seconds. "Remind me to bring more next time," Dae-won says with a laugh, causing my face to flush from embarrassment. Memories from when I first started came flooding back for a few moments, making me smile a little at the thought.
"You want to learn kickboxing?"
I stand nervously before Park Dae-won, Hoseok squeezing my hand from his place beside me. He had offered to come with me for my first lesson, more out of fear that I would get hurt than anything else I bet. I lean a little more on my crutches, my chest squeezing from the nerves.
"I hope I don't come off as rude, I just didn't expect you to want to learn something like this. Most female idols would rather pursue something like yoga or a different form of dancing. I feel honored that you chose to do this instead, and I'd be happy to teach you what I know."
"See princess? Did you really think he'd say no?" Hobi says beside me, placing a gentle kiss on my cheek. "Just make sure you're careful, alright? We don't want you to get more injured now."
"Don't worry, I'll be as careful as I can. I promise."
I was still on crutches at the time, so I didn't get to train much with my legs save for every once in a while. Now that I got rid of them I've been putting more focus into it, and I'm proud to say that now I can do a better job of protecting my boys from those who try to hurt us.
And I'll make sure they never mess with us again.
This chapter didn't take too long for the most part, I wanted to show a bit of what Taylor was working on in that month of time between stories. I'll do my best to write what I can, but is there anything you guys want to see coming up?
I've got story stuff planned out but any more fluff or casual moments will be appreciated since I don't want to throw too much angst at you. I've gotten a lot of complaints about it and honestly, that was supposed to be the point of this sequel. Lots of angst because of the events from the previous story.
Anyways, feedback is always appreciated. Also I finished this a couple days after 'Butter' came out, it's finally getting radio play and I'm FREAKING out! I can't stop listening to it now. Lets keep streaming ARMY!
Daily Quote: "I'll check if I can put my love into this butter or not." -Jungkook
