Chapter 10: Before The Dawn

Gisselle's POV-

"What are we doing here, Noona? And so early?" Kai asks as I put the car in park.

It's currently about five in the morning, about an hour before Taylor's photo shoot starts. I know the girl is already awake by now.

I was going to visit by myself, but Kai caught me just as I had one foot out of the door. Not that I wouldn't see her at work later, but I wanted to spend some time with her.

I knew the boys wouldn't approve, but Kai merely asked if he could come along without knowing where I was headed.

So here we are, parked in front of their house at an absurd time of day. Or night I guess, since it's still dark out.

"I wanted to talk with Taylor and catch up a little," I replied with a bright smile.

Kai pales a little when I say her name, but I can also see his eyes light up at the same time. I know he misses her, so maybe it's a good thing he caught me earlier.

"So that's why you tried to sneak out, if Soobin found out.." Kai starts, but I quickly press a finger to his lips to shush the boy.

"He knows we work together. He'll be mad yeah, but he needs to understand that she's my best friend, and I don't need his permission to see her."

Kai still looks unsure, but nods nonetheless before opening his car door and getting out. I follow close behind, grabbing a small flashlight out of my purse.

We are careful not to make too much noise as we head up the driveway, we don't want one of the boys to wake up and go all alpha on us.

I notice a small light coming from Taylor's room through the glass door, I'm jealous that she even has her own balcony.

Then again, she probably never even noticed it was there. I wouldn't doubt that she thinks it's just a window, and nothing more.

Taylor is smart and all but sometimes she can be a bit dense, let's be honest.

"What are you doing?" Kai asks with a tilt of his head, watching me make my way over to the glass door from here on the ground.

I hold the flashlight up to the boy with a smile, before turning it on and shining it into her room.

Flick on.

Flick off.

Flick on and off twice more.

Flick on for a few seconds, then flick off.

Flicking rapidly on and off so that anyone looking right at this light would probably start having a seizure, then shut the flashlight off.

After a moment I see the light in her room flicker to the same pattern.

"Alright, she knows we're here now," I say as I stuff the flashlight back into my purse. Kai gives me a look like what the actual fuck, before quietly following me to the door.

"Should I even ask what the heck just happened?" Kai mutters, causing me to have to stifle my laughter as the front door opens.

"Gisselle!" Taylor says in an excited yet hushed tone of voice. "What are you doing here?"

She's dressed in an oversized shirt and some grey sweatpants, her pink hair flowing down well past her waist.

How does she even manage having so much hair? I think to myself before wrapping her in a giant bear hug.

"I came to see you, ya dunce!" I reply in the same hushed tone. "I brought Kai along with me, I hope that's alright."

"Of course it's okay, I don't see why it would ever not be," she says, pulling away from the hug to greet my youngest soulmate.

Kai squeaks as the girl throws her arms around his neck, holding his hands out as if not knowing what to do.

I can't help but roll my eyes at him as he slowly but surely returns the hug. Taylor has the brightest smile on her face as she pulls away, beckoning for us to follow her inside.

"Everyone else is asleep right now, they don't leave for another few hours," my best friend says as she heads toward the kitchen.

Kai and I follow, taking our seats at the island while she messes with a few things here and there. "All of our schedules are pretty packed this week."

"Yeah, especially since you just recently released your new album," I reply. Taylor nods before setting a couple of mugs in front of us.

I can smell the sweet coffee aroma as the steam wafts into the air, so I simply smile as a thank you before taking a few sips.

Kai stares at his cup in disbelief for a few moments, before quietly pulling the mug towards him.

"I made both of us hot cocoa, since I couldn't remember if you liked coffee or not," Taylor says, and I notice her cheeks turn a bit red from embarrassment. "Two peppermint sticks, just like last time."

"Well damn, Tay!" I pout, setting my mug down on the counter. "You don't put that amount of effort into my drinks!"

"Mocha with two sugars, a little bit of milk and a LOT of creamer," She says in response, flicking her hair over her shoulder. "You've ordered the same kind of coffee ever since we were kids, Gisselle. And you know I hate it when you call me that."

"Fair, but what if I wanted to try something different?" I ask, taking another sip of the deliciously perfect coffee.

Damn this is some good coffee. I held back a moan of bliss before downing the rest of the mug, I had skipped my usual morning coffee since I didn't want to wake the rest of my soulmates up.

"You never want to try new coffee, saying 'I don't want to soil my taste buds with foul beans'," Taylor replies, taking a sip of her hot chocolate.

"So that's why I saw you dumping out the coffee Taehyun bought you the other day!" Kai exclaims, before quickly covering his mouth. "S-sorry, noona.."

Taylor bursts into laughter at that, I don't blame her one bit. He's so freaking adorable, I think to myself, reaching over to poke his cheek.

The younger male pokes me back in retaliation, but his eyes are fixed on my best friend. Watching as she leans against the counter, holding her mug to her stomach.

I watch as his eyes soften the longer he stares at her. They're just friends Gisselle, I think to myself, shaking my head a bit. Kai just misses having her around, they're really close compared to the others. He sees her as a friend, just as Namjoon told you before.

"You okay, Noona?" Kai's words snap me out of my short daze, but they weren't directed toward me.

I look over to see Taylor visibly wince, before downing the rest of her hot chocolate.

"I'm okay, just that time of the month. Cramps are really bad today, but I took some Midol a few minutes before you guys showed up. It should kick in before the photo shoot starts."

"I can go pick up some peppermint tea for you, if you don't have enough that is," I offer as she takes out empty mugs, making her way to the sink.

"Thank you Unnie, but Jin made sure to pick up plenty the last time he went grocery shopping," she replies as she starts washing the dishes. "I still need to change, so can you guys give me like ten minutes to get ready?"

"Noona..."

Taehyung's sleepy drawl interrupts before either of us could answer. Kai and I nearly jump out of our seat in surprise, but Taylor looks unfazed. The woman merely dons a caring smile as she walks over to him.

The male's eyes are hardly open at all, I'm surprised he made it down the stairs without falling. He's wearing a pair of blue plaid sweats and a black tank top, along with thick black socks.

"Noona, it hurts.." he slurs, wrapping his arms around Taylor and burying his face in her chest.

I'm assuming he still hasn't gotten used to the pain a woman goes through on a monthly basis. Taylor did tell me that he can block out pain after a while, so I'm sure he'll be able to handle it within time.

"I know hun, I know it hurts," Taylor coos, running a hand through his hair. "How about we go back upstairs, and I'll get the heating pad set up for you?"

"Why do you have to leave so early.." His voice is muffled from smushing his face into her shirt. Taylor gives us a piteous smile and mouths, 'Let me take care of him first'.

I merely nod in understanding, careful not to say anything in case he's only half awake. It doesn't seem like he noticed Kai and I at all, anyways.

"I have a photo shoot at dawn, love. Let's head back to bed, okay?"

"I don't want you to go.."

"I won't be gone for too long, I'll be with you all at practice today."

"Fine.. but then I get you all to myself tonight, okay? Yoongi had you yesterday, it's my turn."

Taylor stifles a laugh before nodding, kissing the man on the cheek after he pulls away.

After a little more coaxing she slowly manages to get him up the stairs, both of them disappearing out of sight.

They're already acting like a married couple, in their own unique way, I think to myself while letting out a light sigh.

Kai reaches over to take my hand, a slight smile on his face. "I want us to be like that someday," he says quietly. That comment alone made my heart warm in my chest just a little more.

The sweetest moments often happen just before the dawn.
