Chap 13

I quietly opened the door with the spare keys. Gripping my bag tightly, I started tiptoeing to my room, cautious not to make anyone aware of my presence.

"What are you doing?" I nervously turned to notice Aaron standing in the kitchen frame, a pepero in his hand.

"Shushh. I don't want mum to know." I whispered.

"Mum, Aria's home." He sang out, giving me a salute before stepping out.

Idiot.

I waited for five minutes to make sure mum was coming or not. Seeing the coast clear, I made a beeline to my room.

"We should go somewhere this weekend." InHa suggested, taking her seat.

"Good idea." Chris piped in.

"No can do." SaNa added.

"Why?" InHa whined, pouting like a child.

"Family gathering." Was all she said before taking a sip of her strawberry milk. "But, I'll see."

"Great." InHa's eyes shone as she clapped her hands.

"What about Taehyun?" InHo queried.

"I tried calling him yesterday but his phone was turned off." Chris stated.

"I left messages.." SaNa spoke up but eyeing our reaction, she promptly added "Aish!! concerned ones."

"Hi guys." We all jerked our heads up to see SooMin standing before us.

"Ye." Everyone spoke in unison.

And with that, she turned on her heel and strutted away, giving an evil smile.

Perplexed by her behaviour, I narrowed my eyes in her direction. Did she forget yesterday's events? She acted as if we were friends with no guilt or remorse in her actions whatsoever.

School was finally over. The cold wind hugged me as I stepped out but I didn't mind. It was finally the weekend.

~

"Aria?" Mum stated, entering my room.

"Yes."

"You should go out with your friends tomorrow." She declared, situating herself on my bed.

"How did you know?" I inquired, closing my lappy whilst sitting up.

"InHa may or may not have asked me." She winked, letting out a hearty laugh.

"Mum, I don't want to." Hoping she wouldn't force me.

"Aria, be fearless. Get out of your comfort zone even if it means being uncomfortable. Discover the world but most importantly, discover your self and your true potential hun." Mum stated, rubbing my hands.

I gulped, a stray tear ran down my cheek. "Come here." Mum said, embracing me in her motherly hold. We sat there for a few moments. I didn't want to let go. My mum understood me and that's what I wanted, someone to understand me rather than forcing me.

"You don't have to if you don't want to." Mum added, letting go.

"No, it's okay. I'll go." I answered, returning her smile.

Mum squeezed the life out of me one last time before getting up, not forgetting to close the door behind her.

I opened the group chat and typed, "I'm in for tomorrow." Instantly, InHa replied with a thumbs up emoticon. I laughed at her silliness before grabbing my lappy and continuing the episode.

"Let's go." InHa called at the top of her lungs, standing at my door at exactly 9 in the morning.

"Shut up." InHo sighed, covering his ears. He shot a deathly glare at his sister who didn't seem to mind.

At all.

"Hello to you too." SaNa stated, who didn't seem perturbed by InHa's yelling.

"Nobody asked you to come." Chris scoffed.

"I am aware how much you guys adore me." SaNa fired back.

"Stop it." InHo warned, pinching the bride of his nose. It was too early for their blabbing.

~

"We should head back." InHo suggested.

We've been in a park for eight hours. The sun had set, leaving behind hues of pink, purple and orange in the sky. The lights had been turned on, making everything seem like a fantasy.

"We still have one more ride to go on." InHa stated to her brother.

"No." He demanded, letting out a harsh breath.

My hands trembled as I recalled the last time we were late. The drunk guy- no no. Nobody knows about the incident except for InHo and the twins. I shook my head, getting rid of the memory. Before I could persuade InHa to go home, she had pulled out her signature stunt.

The puppy eyes.

And she was good at it. InHo shook his head. InHa's hopes were dashed. Her charm wasn't working today. I laughed at the amusing situation in front of me but what happened next had everyone to stop and give us weird looks.

InHa was now on her knees, clutching InHo's hand, a tear making its way down her cheek. All of us were in a fit of laughter while InHo's cheeks had a tinge of pink to them. I didn't know if he was embarrassed or angry.

He swatted her hand away while she continued on her little scene, except her hands were on her sides now.

"Which one?" InHo inquired, referring to the ride his sister was talking about. Nobody could resist InHa's puppy eyes.

"The ferris wheel."

"Don't worry. I got it whole on camera." Chris informed InHo, only to receive a punch to the stomach.

A hard punch.

"Dude, come on." Chris whined, holding his stomach.

"Just kidding." InHo shrugged.

"Or not." He whispered.

We all reached the ride just in time and got our tickets, except for InHo. He decided to stay back in case something went wrong.

The ride began and we all let out a shriek. Chris was beyond scared, holding onto SaNa for dear life. We reached the top and I was speechless. One could see the whole city from here. The view was magnificent. As if on cue, the lights dimmed.

"Why did we stop?" Chris questioned, peeking from SaNa's arm.

It was then we realised we had been stopped. Our phone's rang at the same time. I fished out mine to see a text by InHo in the group.

"The lights went out. Enjoy." InHo texted.

We all exchanged looks of horror and another notification popped up. I glanced down to read the new text, hoping it would be something better.

"Just kidding."

We all let out a breath of relief.

Another notification.

"Or not."
