31. Love Is Not Over
Third Person's P. O. V.
Taehyung stayed frozen, for awhile his mind numbed and all that echoed through him were Jin's bewitching eyes, profoundly calm and yet so mysteriously wild.
He pressed his lips together, tongue inadvertently licking to relish the taste of those alluring soft ones that had stayed there a few seconds ago. His gaze instantly flickered through the open glass, hands tightening on the steering as he peered to watch the receding figure walk up the steps and then saw Jin halt before the door.
His stomach flipped and chest grew heavy, drugged with that soft press of lips and mystifying eyes, he realized he was losing the control he had been desperately holding onto all through these months.
The snap was real and Taehyung felt a wave crash on him.
It broke through him and he jumped out of the car, banged the door close and picked up his steps, Jin turned around at the sound and saw Taehyung hurry towards him, brisk steps covering the distance.
Jin's emotions were all over the place, part of him wanted nothing more than to see that glint in Taehyung's eyes, that need, that affection, he had missed it terribly but the moment he felt him grab his face and press their lips together fear took over him, he knew this too will be taken away from him. They pushed back through the door, kicking it close denying to let go of each other as they kissed hungrily, taking their fill for all those times they have been starving.
Anxious hands grabbing and pulling close. Jin was too taken to figure out if those whimpers and whines he spilled were due to the force or the feeling.
He grabbed at his collar, holding Tae to himself who kept leaning more and more into him, mouth restless and demanding as he sucked on a Jin's lips, driving his tongue as he pleased tangling with Jin's sweet taste. His hands went from Jin's jaw to the back of his head as he tilted his head, claiming that appealing mouth again, both gasping for breath.
"You're mean" Taehyung panted out "why? Wanna drive me mad!" He growled mindlessly, eyes pressed close and face flushed. He didn't know what was going on in his head right now, it snapped to throw him off of all his restraints and he felt like he had actually slipped into a state of madness.
"The whole time.." he spoke and Jin could see the speckles of pain in those eyes, urging again for a shelter from the agony "..I have been drunk the whole time, that's the only way I survive" he nudged Jin's face with his, nose digging in as his tongue licked at his cheek "...on you or alcohol, but drunk all the same".
"You're a jerk" Jin voiced through gritted teeth "why'd you have to leave, huh?"
"You think I wanted to?! What other choice did I have?" Taehyung's voice was an agitated groan.
"You don't have to protect me! It's on me! I chose this, I chose you! I chose us over my sappy secure life!"
Taehyung pulled his head in again, crashing their lips together and Jin took the lead, delving his tongue into Taehyung's mouth. He let his fingers crawl through those damp wavy locks humming at the feeling of their perfect sync, basking in the warmth Taehyung wrapped him in as he tightened his arms around Jin, pulling him closer making them stumble back and forth.
Jin felt Taehyung pushing him back, felt his hands move to his waist, slipping below the jacket and the loose lilac shirt to glide over his bare skin and softly squeeze. He felt his back press against the dining table and tried to break the kiss but before he could say anything Taehyung grabbed the back of his thighs and set him on the table. All his thoughts were instantly drowned as he felt his lips dragging down his mouth over his jaw to nibble and suck at his neck, pushing the jacket down his shoulders.
Realizing this was getting wild, and they're in the living room in a house where he lived with two other people who might come home any minute, he tried to talk some sense into the other.
"T-Tae.." "Shut up" he nosed around the collar of the loose shirt on Jin, pressing his lips along the way "your fault".
Jin couldn't help the smirk and giggled when his unruly hairs tickled against his neck "my fault?"
"Yes, your fault, you keep tempting me when I am trying so hard to keep my head right" Taehyung said unbuttoning the first button on the shirt with his teeth, hands still massaging Jin's waist.
"Good" Jin smiled, and Taehyung came up to face him "good?"
"At least I can still tempt you" he smiled keeping his eyes on his fingers weaving through those dark wavy locks "I tried to mark you as mine but it faded away"
"Did it?" His breath hit against Jin's skin as he watched him with hooded eyes, voice a lullaby of affection "you possess me far more deeply than any mark can show Jin". His touch grew fervent and possessive, mouth pressing open-mouthed kisses along his neck as he marked Jin's pale smooth skin anew.
"AAH!"
Taehyung snapped his head up to look at Jin, who had his face scrunched up in pain "what?"
"Don't...I think I have a fractured rib or something" Jin croaked out and Taehyung realized where his hand had just traced over, he pulled up the shirt to get a closer look and saw the darkening bruise over his left side. "Doesn't look that bad but it will take some time to heal" he checked pressing his fingers a tiny bit and felt Jin's grip tighten on his shoulder as he grumbled in pain.
"Hurts!"
And Taehyung looked up at him with a small smile "sorry, had to check if it's broken" and pecked his mouth again "now, let's clean up those wounds, where do you keep the first aid around here?"
"Ahh! Stop not like that!" "Stop whining and stop moving so much!" Taehyung grabbed at his waist, his firm hand keeping Jin from jumping off of the table and running away as he pressed a drenched cotton ball on to the side of his head.
Jin winced at the stinging pain, "does it need stitches?" He asked in a small voice, never really been a fan of needles. "If you stay still and be a good boy I can do it" Taehyung speaks, eyes intently set on cleaning the sound "it's not that deep anyway". "I'm always good, you're the one who's mean!" He grunted in pain and felt Taehyung softly blow at the wound.
Jin looked at him, that little frown not that intimidating now, with his heavy over coat shed off his shoulders were not that stiff as it felt earlier, he looked leaner, exhausted, the veins on his neck more prominent but the hand resting on his jaw just as soft as he remembered.
"Why couldn't you just knock me out or something?!" Jin sniffled, angry and in pain.
"It's not that bad baby, just a tiny cut, and it's all patched up! See all good" Taehyung assured placing the bandaid over the three little stitches. "I knew I should've waited for Yoongs" he sniffled, tears still keeping his eyes moist no matter how many times Taehyung thumbed them away.
"You're such a baby" Taehyung placed little endearing kisses "where's the Jin who'd try to choke me, hmm?"
Jin stiffened at those words, felt Taehyung's lips graze against his ear while his hand soothingly rubbed his hair "the Jin who wanted to hurt me and use me, so loud and demanding". He could hear his chuckle thick with insinuation and felt all the blood run up to his cheeks when Taehyung pulled his head up, the smirk on his face saying a thousand words "you like this don't you, see the tears are all gone".
And that made Jin blush harder but he tried to hide it away with a scowl "you asshole! H-How dare you! You...you're awful!"
Taehyung laughed and leaned in, pressing their heads together "I missed you so much, I become such a monster when I don't have you around" and Jin saw him close his eyes "they lie when they say there's always a light at the end of the tunnel, there isn't" he opened his eyes to look into Jin's "I left mine like a madman who doesn't know how to cherish the treasure he holds".
"You di-" before he could complete his words the front door burst open and Jungkook stumbled in, followed by an anxious Hoseok.
"Where's he? Oh! What the fucking hell! You were supposed to call earlier! Scared the heck out of me!!" "You are lucky I called you at all, you were supposed to make sure he is safe you dumb-fucking-shit!" Taehyung barked while Jin peeked from behind him at Hoseok. "I wasn't actually sitting around you know!" He was gasping as he walked over to Jin checking him for wounds while Jin got concerned about the wounds on the other, completely unaware of the awkward air that had suddenly set in because Jungkook had frozen by the door, eyes solely staying on Jin while Taehyung's jaw tightened, dark eyes stiffly set on Jungkook as he shuffled uneasily when Jin broke off from clinging onto him.
"You're hurt" Jungkook's soft voice floated in drawing Jin's eyes to him, "Yeah I am but it's not too bad, I'll live" Jin replied with a little shrug, and then his eyes caught the cuts and bandages on Kook "what happened to the two of you?"
"Yeah, today's been one of those hectic days" Hoseok voiced turning to Taehyung b who had fallen oddly silent, shifting on his feet and avoiding all their eyes "good work on the weapons, at least some good came out of today".
Jungkook limped to Hoseok's side, watching Jin wince as he eased down from the table and swiftly edged towards him to help as he wobbled a bit. Jin saw Taehyung glare and lean to him, hand swiftly snatching his in a forceful grip as he pulled him to himself.
"Aahh shit!" Jin yelped grabbing onto his hurting left side that had collided against Taehyung "what's with you?"
"Namjoon will be over soon, let's discuss on this before you leave" Taehyung turned away from Jin to give Hoseok a nod, hand still clasping Jin's.
An hour later the situation in the living room was grim, heads hanging low since the moment Namjoon joined them and Taehyung relayed the events at the construction site.
"What were you thinking? This was a bad move Taehyung, Kai is going to let all Hell loose now" Namjoon looked terribly worried.
"I wasn't thinking! I know it was a dick move, but I...I couldn't think of anything else at the moment." He spoke as he kept his eyes on everything but Jungkook, who however seemed absolutely unaffected to the information.
Jungkook saw Namjoon and Hoseok fidget every time they talked about Sunmi, and their guilty eyes actually irritated him.
"Don't compare my life with yours, I had no childhood to understand what parents are" his burnt sienna eyes crystal clear as he stared at them "I already told you all, I am in this for real to bring Axel down, let's work well, together".
Nods reverberated among the circle and that was when the reality set in for Jin about what had happened that afternoon, Axel had lost a member and Jungkook had just lost his birth mother. And even though it didn't seem like it mattered to him, Jin felt like hugging him, maybe not because of the loss but because how cold he sounded when he spoke about losing out on the affection every human deserves.
After the talk it was decided that Jimin would have to drop off the barista course and Jin would make sure to stay around him throughout the day in case he also gets targeted.
"Now that we've taken the first step, we might as well go ahead with the next" Hoseok suggested and saw Namjoon, Jungkook and Taehyung look at each other while Jin and Yoongi sat eyeing them. "True, let's get the info of the vault, there are places Byun is seen from time to time, we can track that and drag him out" Namjoon took up the issue as they planned further.
"I could probably help you with that" Jin voiced in between only to get snubbed instantly.
"No!" Two voices rebuked him almost angry as Taehyung's dark eyes countered Jungkook's sienna eyes in a side glance.
"At least hear me out will you, I know I'm not one of you" Jin replied frustrated with their bossiness "I already got the info, pictures actually on where he is usually seen".
"What?! How?" "You took pictures!! Do you know how dangerous it would have been if they found out?!" "When?! Oh! When you were following me?" "That's gonna be great Seokjin, real smart work"
Everyone's heads snapped at Namjoon.
"Are you fucking commending him for doing something so reckless?!" Taehyung's deep voice was livid
"And stupid! What were you trying to do Jin? Get yourself killed!" Hoseok yelled.
"He was damn close" Jungkook bit out
"Shut up, you pushed him to do that, don't play stupid. I know exactly what kind of a petty fucker you are" Taehyung snarled at Jungkook, fists clenching as he remembered how terribly he had pushed Jin in the face of danger.
"Taehyung, don't be mean" Namjoon warned
"I'm working with him, ain't I? Especially after what he did, but that doesn't change the fact that he is crafty and slippery as fuck! I'd be careful if I were you" Taehyung griped making Jungkook bite into his cheek and kept his eyes to the floorboards.
"I know you don't trust me, else you'd have told me that you found the weapons hold. But you told me nothing and yet called Namjoon five minutes after you sent me out" Jungkook pointed out, voice low but edgy.
"Yeah newsflash, I fucking don't trust you one bit! You tried to kill me, killed my brother, killed my entire team, played with us being a spy for a year! And then to top it all, you had to drag Jin into your sick games! Pardon me for being sceptical but you're not exactly trustworthy you know!"
"Taehyung, we've been through this, he's doing his best to prove himself. You gotta do your part to accept that" Namjoon thundered trying to put the bickering to a stop.
The two looked away from each other, biting their cheeks in agitation. Both had their fair share of grudges to hold against each other.
"Ok, so this is what I got" Jin came back with his laptop to see the grim aura looming over the group and visibly quieted down. He felt Yoongi's arm nudge him to sit down as he pulled the laptop onto his lap "don't fret, it's just kids being themselves, just more tragically fucked up, more hormonal and the usual pain in the ass" he bit out as he clicked through the folders.
Jin eyed around only to find both Taehyung and Jungkook scowling at Yoongi.
Taehyung huffed up from his seat by Jungkook to come and squeeze himself beside Jin, pulling a flustered Jin to lean on him while the others held onto their silence knowing all too well why he was suddenly being so childish.
"What? Can't I sit here?" He asked Jin with a frown, who looked like the only one who was surprised at the action.
"N-no, of c-course you can" Jin tried to focus on the screen but was too conscious of Taehyung's hand around him, his breath hitting his ear and the other hand resting lightly on his thigh.
He wasn't uncomfortable but they had never been that coupl-y, never had a chance to, so all the eyes on them made him oddly conscious of how impossible their love must look.
But how does one know when it's real? Is it a ring and a home or the way every atom of you craves and wishes for him? Is it the comfort or the pain?
They got busy in conversations, discussions that took more complex turns and all the while Seokjin was conscious of the way Taehyung had his arm draped around him, unmoving even when he was engrossed in the talk, saw how every time he picked up the hand from his thigh to gesture something it came back, how that unmindful thumb rubbed against his shoulder every once in a while.
And Seokjin didn't know what to name this side of Taehyung or himself, this wasn't their normal.
They could love each other till every bone ached, kiss a mess of each other till every pore oozed with the contentment their souls shone with, hurt with the way they possessed each other, they were teeth and claw and blood and heartche who were yet to see that golden side of a happy togetherness, if ever they are lucky enough.
That's when Seokjin realized how his soft young dreams of dating, of charming dinner dates, of flowers and chocolates and cuddles had been replaced with a relentless gnawing need and the fear of losing Taehyung. Maybe that's what happens when you are not fed love in spoonfuls, you learn to lick it off of the bloody edges.
"Damn it hurts everywhere" Jin whined resting his head on the couch and pressed his eyes close, a minute later he saw Jungkook settle down beside him. "How do you guys walk around like it's nothing after getting wounded, unreal!"
The group had scattered, Namjoon had called Taehyung into Yoongi's study, who was putting away the coffee mugs and Hoseok now sat with Jin's laptop.
"It gets easier with time, accepting pain also becomes a habit" Jungkook spoke and saw Jin look at him with those soft brown eyes.
"That is something I really don't want to make a habit but seems like I gotta get used to it being surrounded by you all" Jin groaned, trying to find an angle which would not be this painful when his eyes caught Namjoon and Taehyung walking out, still engrossed in their conversation.
He saw Taehyung's eyes dart time and again where he sat with Jungkook as Hoseok went to join them, something serious Jin could guess as he heard pieces of words like General, weapons, missions and deaths.
"I diffused a bomb today" Jungkook said resting his head back against the couch, and Jin leaned back again "I fought back for the first time in my life and almost got killed, it was like getting bullied but with real weapons"
"An eventful day huh" Jungkook chuckled
"Kook?"
"Hmm?
"I know I was being mean to you, sorry about that" he rolled his head to look at him "it was mean of me to try to take my anger out on you, it's just , I had to learn a lot these past few months, mostly things I wasn't ready for. I know, I sound stupid, compared to what you all go thro-" "Doesn't matter, you can't compare pain Jin, the heart is always weak to the things it hadn't expected to hurt"
Jin picked his head up, eyes quietly tracing the edges of Taehyung's figure standing a few feet away "it's all so screwed up, I don't even know what's what anymore".
Jungkook picked his up to follow Jin's eyes, watched their eyes meet as Taehyung turned to catch a glimpse and saw his gaze stay on Jin, and let his eyes slowly settle on Jin's fluttering lashes. The bandaid on his forehead hurt his eyes, so did every other bruise on him but the worst was the ache in his heart, the unyielding throbbing pain that just wouldn't dissolve no matter how hard he tired to tell the stupid thing that Jin would never see the way he felt for him.
This had become something that was beyond him to take control of, beyond him to force this ache out of him, the stubborn greed for those soft brown eyes to set on him with the same need and no matter how difficult it felt he knew he would forever have this foolish spot saved for that one soul, the soul who had made him realize he had one too.
And, this scared him more than anything, more than battles of tomorrow or wounds that could kill him because the very soul who had the power to make him feel mild was also the only one who could bring out the freak in him, and all it wanted was to conquer.
