Tami's POV

" I got married due to some reasons but my fiance eloped at the last minute so I had to get married to her younger sister. Is that a valid reason, I don't want her as my wife." He explained bitterly and I felt so humiliated by the way he described everything.

" Did her family keep you in the dark and replace the bride without your and your family's consent? If yes, then your wedding can be declared null and void. " the lawyer said.

" No, they did inform us, and my mom and I knew about it." He said tears were brimming in my eyes, but I was determined not to shed one single tear. 

" Then I am sorry, the marriage is valid and you need to wait for 6 months to file a divorce. Under the Hindu Marriage Act, obtaining a divorce within the first six months is not feasible," the lawyer interjected, his voice tinged with solemnity. "Moreover, there must be valid grounds for such a petition... And in this case, it's not there." He replied.

" Okay, got it! One more thing, You know about that clause in my grandfather's will. To get my share in the property, I need to get married before being 27. I am 26 years, and 3 months old and I am married. So if I get a divorce after 6 months, will I get my share? " Mihir asked and I was shocked to hear it.

" I am afraid, you will have to stay married for at least those 9 months till you are 27 and complete all the clauses in the will. You can think of initiating the process only after that. "

Despite the lawyer's cautionary words, Mr. Shah's determination remained unyielding. " Well, in that case, we will file the divorce after that but still please prepare the divorce paper. I want them ready as soon as possible. "  He instructed, his voice steady with resolve. "I want this divorce finalized as soon as possible."

The lawyer hesitated, his brows furrowed in concern. "Are you sure about this? Rushing into such a decision could have unforeseen consequences," he cautioned, his tone laced with a hint of urgency.

But he remained adamant, his gaze unwavering. "I understand the risks, but this is something that cannot wait, I want the papers ready though we may take the divorce later.," he asserted, his voice tinged with a sense of urgency.

As the lawyer reluctantly began to draft the necessary documents, the weight of our situation settled upon me like a heavy shroud.

And then it hit me – the untold truth behind our rushed union. As the gravity of the situation sank in, I realized the complexity of our predicament. Bound by tradition, family obligations, and the looming deadline of his grandfather's will, he faced an uphill battle.

In that lawyer's office, amidst the weight of expectations and legal constraints, our fate hung in the balance. And as we struggled with the repercussions of our choices, I couldn't help but wonder – would my love withstand the trials ahead, or would the shadows of the past, tear us apart?

We came out of his office and he drove back home. As I sat in the car, my mind racing with questions, I couldn't shake off the feeling of impending doom.

We were coming back and he looked annoyed at what the lawyer said.

" You know what he said, that means we are supposed to remain married for the next 9 months at least. So just keep in mind that we will stay married only till then, so if you are planning to seduce me or make me fall in love with you, then let me tell you that you are wasting your time and energy. It would not happen in this lifetime. I never looked at any other woman in my life but your sister. I know she doesn't want me in her life but in the same way, I don't want you in my life." He said but I didn't reply.

" No more dialogues?? Did the cat get your tongue? "  He asked.

I was so badly hurt by his behavior but didn't want to give him that satisfaction as I knew that he was very angry with Gaurvi and since he loved her but got hurt in love,  he wanted to hurt me in the same way, moreover, he thought that she will also get hurt seeing that I was not happy because I stepped in for her.

But I would not give him that sadistic pleasure, so I smiled at him and said as you wish, though I was hurt beyond the limit now.
