Tami's POV
I was about to fall when someone caught me but I eventually fell with whoever it was who tried to save me. We fell on the floor with me on top of him. I realized a pair of strong arms around me, those arms were creating some kind of sensation in my body. They were holding me to his body and I felt a current running through my blood.
What the hell!!
I tried to get out of them immediately. So pushed the person on his chest to get away from him. I was shocked to see that it was Mihir, his eyes were closed and he was groaning.
" I am sorry, please get up, please say that you are fine. " I said and tried to get him up. He got up and steadied himself.
" What was the problem? Why were you running as if you were running for your dear life? " He scolded me, getting annoyed, for running like that.
" Sorry, Dad called and asked me to come, he also said that it was an emergency. I was scared that he was not feeling well. " I explained while he was rubbing his forehead.
Strange, he fell on his back so he should be hurt in the back or the back of his head, why was he pressing his head?
" Fine!! But at least see around yourself." He said.
" Are you alright? Why are you rubbing your head? "
" Nothing, I am fine. "
" Dad? What happened??" I was feeling bad for him but I turned to look at Dad and asked immediately.
"Mihir is lying, he is having a terrible headache. He almost fainted earlier." Dad said.
What?? He almost fainted?
" You have a headache?? What else will happen if you don't eat well?" I pushed him to the extra bed and made him lie there. I took off one of his shoes. He objected and tried to do it himself but I told him not to move. He looked at me weirdly.
" You are not eating well, what have you had since morning, if you don't want to eat what I make, tell the cook to make something for you. But eat something. " I said.
Mihir had just left the hospital room and rushed out in the morning, I had prepared his favorite dishes, but he didn't eat anything. I felt very bad but to save my face in front of Dr Rajvanshi, I smiled.
He never had anything, I prepared for him. But I wanted him to at least try what others were enjoying.
" What? Mihir, Why don't you want what she is making, she is even better cook than your mom. I love everything she cooks, and haven't you seen how crazy Dr Rajvanshi is about her cooking? " Dad said to Mihir. He made a face hearing it.
" Mihir, have some food first and then take medicine. " I served lunch for him. He shook his head again but I insisted that he had it.
He took the plate but rubbed his head again.
" May I press your head? " I asked.
" No, I will be fine ..." He said.
" What nonsense!! Let her massage your head. You will feel better. Do it, Tami beta." Dad said and he did not object.
I started pressing his head lightly first, slowly increasing the pressure, he seemed to relax after that.

The day had been a whirlwind of emotions and activity, but the quiet moments with Mihir and Dad had brought a sense of peace. For a while, working together to care for Dad felt like a glimpse of what a real partnership could be. Mihir was attentive, and though he didn’t say much, his presence was comforting. It gave me hope that perhaps, we could build something meaningful from this marriage of convenience.
As evening approached, I noticed Mihir seemed lost in thought. He was often deep in his world, but this time, his silence felt different—less guarded, more contemplative. I wondered what was going through his mind, but I didn’t want to intrude.
Suddenly, a nurse came rushing in, her face filled with urgency. "Dr. Mihir, there's an emergency case that needs a neurosurgeon immediately. No other doctor is available."
Mihir hesitated, clearly caught off guard. Just then, my dad appeared, reinforcing the nurse’s plea. "Mihir, we need you. You're our best neurosurgeon."
I could see the conflict in Mihir's eyes. He wasn't in the best state of mind, but I knew he wouldn't walk away from a patient in need. Before he could respond, I stepped in. "Mihir, go. I'll stay with Dad until you're done."
He gave me a grateful look before hurrying off with the nurse and dad. The surgical case must be serious if they needed him this urgently. I watched him leave, a mix of admiration and concern swirling within me.
I turned back to Dad, who was resting peacefully. I sat by his bedside, adjusting his blanket and checking his vitals, ensuring he was comfortable. The room was quiet, save for the rhythmic beeping of the monitors and the occasional murmur of hospital staff outside. I tried to distract myself by reading a book, but my thoughts kept drifting back to Mihir.
The hours passed slowly. I couldn't help but worry about Mihir. Neurosurgery is demanding, and I knew the toll it took on him, both physically and mentally. I prayed for his patience and his strength. I didn't realize but I slept as I was tired.
