Chapter 38
Tami's POV
I got ready wearing a beautiful Indian outfit and some nice elegant jewelry that my mom had got for me. Combed my long straight hair and was ready in less than 10 minutes.
He came back to the room and said, " We need to talk. "
" No, you have already said a lot for the day, I don't want to talk to you," I said and went out immediately.
We ventured to Mom's cherished spot for dinner, basking in the cozy ambiance that enveloped us like a warm embrace. Amidst the flickering candlelight, Mom and Dad shared tender glances that spoke volumes of their enduring love, reminiscent of my own dear parents.
"Dance with me, my love?" Dad's voice, filled with affection, cut through the melodic notes floating in the air. Mom's reply was swift yet gentle, redirecting his attention towards me. Despite my initial hesitation, Dad's outstretched hand beckoned me, and with a shy smile, I placed mine in his.
As we swayed to the rhythm of the music, Dad's steps faltered, prompting laughter to dance in his eyes. With playful encouragement, I guided him through the intricate motions, turning our missteps into a symphony of joy. It was fun, we both were laughing.
In a seamless transition, Mom whisked Mihir onto the dance floor, his smile blossoming under her enchanting spell. Their movements mirrored the harmony of love long cherished, each step a testament to their unspoken connection.
Suddenly, Mom drew Mihir closer, her gaze meeting Dad's as she asked Dad to dance with her, and before that, she gave my hand in Mihir's big hand and entrusted me to Mihir's care. Despite the lingering discomfort from our recent legal visit, Mom's insistence and the shift in melody compelled us to sway together once more.
I saw that now Dad and Mom were dancing perfectly without Dad making any mistakes about any step.
" C'mon show her that you are not boring. Even the ever-serious Manik was more romantic than that. " Mom teased when she came closer and I smiled at that.
Under the soft glow of the evening lights, Mom's teasing words lingered in the air, a gentle reminder of the depth hidden beneath Mihir's reserved demeanor.
With a daring tug, Mihir pulled me closer, his touch igniting a spark that danced between us, erasing the facade of indifference we wore. In that tender embrace, amidst the whispers of the night, I found solace in the unexpected connection that blossomed beneath the facade of pretense.
Despite his initial reluctance, the challenge seemed to have ignited something within Mihir, a flicker of passion that mirrored the flames of the candles casting their soft glow upon us.
Or perhaps his male ego was hurt but now we moved in synchrony, his once rigid posture softened, yielding to the fluidity of the dance and the unspoken emotions swirling between us.
I wish him to be like that always. Each step became a silent dialogue, a dance of longing and possibility, weaving a tapestry of desire and hope beneath the veil of our charade.
I was getting lost in his eyes but because I was determined not to show it, I was melting under his touch.
Once the music stopped we came to our table the food was served by now and we started eating our food, mom and Dad were still lost in each other and we got a bit awkward again though I saw him stealing some glances at me which resulted in an increased heartbeat.
We finished food and mom ordered something sweet for three of them and asked my preference, and I told it. The desserts were ordered and I was shocked to see the quantity.
" Oh, my god!! This is such a huge serving. I can't seem to finish it. Do you want some of it, Mom? Dad? " I said.
" Oh, we should not be eating so much sweets at this age, Mihir can share it with you. He loves sweets." Mom said and I looked at him but he shook his head.
" Oh, c'mon, Mihir take it, as her husband you must finish her dessert if she can't. " Mom said and Dad nodded with a smile.
" Another tradition started by my friends' group. But a very romantic one. " Dad said with a smile.
I ate some of it and Mihir pulled my dish towards him and finished it out of respect for his parents. But still, my cheeks turned red as he was eating out of my plate. Once it was finished we went back.
The moment I got in the car, I recalled what happened earlier in the lawyer's office. My eyes were full of tears so I looked out of the window.
