Tami's POV
Coming out of the room I saw that he was sitting on one edge of the bed and looked into his phone. I didn't want to get in the bed as it seemed awkward. He must have been very uncomfortable on that couch.
So I took out some of the stuff from my bag and deliberately kept some on the couch so that he wouldn't take the couch again. I wanted him to sleep on the bed so that I could take the couch without any arguments. So I thought of unpacking my bag and hanging my clothes in the wardrobe.
" Where can I keep my stuff? There is a lot of it, I need space." I said.
" The left side of the walk-in wardrobe is mine, you can use the other side, there is a lot of space to accommodate all your stuff and more. But don't put your things on my side. "
"Thanks. " I said.
As I carefully unpacked my belongings in our new shared space, I couldn't shake off the awkwardness that hung in the air like a heavy cloud. His words stung, reminding me of the unconventional circumstances that led us to this moment. But I refused to let his indifference dampen my spirit.
With a determined resolve, I meticulously arranged my clothes in the walk-in wardrobe, finding solace in doing it. Each item held a memory, a piece of me woven into the fabric. As all, there were my clothes which I bought with my mom or sisters.
As I reached for the boxes containing new dresses, excitement bubbled within me, momentarily overshadowing the tension in the room.
The first box revealed a stunning western gown, created by our favourite designer. Its delicate lace and flowing silhouette spoke of elegance and grace. Imagining myself in it, I couldn't help but smile, feeling a surge of confidence wash over me.
Next, I unearthed an exquisite Indian ensemble, intricately embroidered with vibrant hues that danced in the light. The intricate patterns seemed to tell a story, celebrating tradition and heritage in every stitch. Running my fingers over the fabric, I marveled at the craftsmanship, feeling a deep sense of pride in our culture.
I turned to hang it in my wardrobe and saw that he was looking at me from the corner of his eyes. Maybe he was curious about the kind of dresses I got. My heartbeat increased a bit but I tried to show as if I had already forgotten about him being there.
Humming a soft tune I kept working on my clothes even placed them against me and saw in the mirror. And through the mirror I saw him and again I felt that maybe he was looking at my dresses.
I hung most of my dresses in the wardrobe and now only a few more dresses, my night suits, and a vibrant box were left.
What was there in that box??
I was very excited to see it. And opened it. It had some naughty sexy nightwear and some lingerie sets.
But amidst the excitement, a sudden shift in the atmosphere caught me off guard. His presence loomed over me, a silent reminder of our complicated situation. I covered the box immediately as I didn't want him to see them.
Who ordered it?? We had not ordered it...
Just wanted to hide the box as fast as possible and got up too fast carrying it thinking of running into the wardrobe and hiding it in the darkest corner.
But in the haste to do it, I stumbled upon another box and fell on him as he had got up to change his clothes. The box I was carrying containing sensual nightwear, fell on the floor and everything in it got out of it as in full display. The embarrassment flooded my cheeks, and I instinctively averted my gaze.
" What the hell is that?? What are you up to?? " He said getting angry all of a sudden.
" Nothing, I swear, I didn't even order it," I replied too quickly as I was more embarrassed than him.
" What? Don't lie!! Do you think I was born yesterday? Stop this nonsense... You are never going to get me with your cheap tricks. " He said.
" I know you will not trust me, as you have decided to think the worst about me. But I didn't order them, maybe uncle sent the wrong box by mistake. " I said.
" Oh please, stop lying! " He said and just then we saw a card that had fallen off the box. I picked it up and read it.
