Tami's POV

Another long day came to an end. Ever since Mihir realized his mistake, Mihir has been making efforts to make it as comfortable as possible. I was in the third month of my pregnancy, and Mihir tried to comfort me with thoughtful gifts. I appreciated the effort, but I  didn't accept the gifts as it wasn't enough to mend our fractured relationship.

Each morning, he sent my favorite breakfast items, and flowers, mindful of my aversions and cravings. He ensured I had the best care. He even went out of his way to get a dish I loved from a very popular food joint, where he must have waited in a long queue in there to get it. Then he left it for me, with a note: "I hope this makes your evening a little brighter. – Mihir."

Despite his efforts, the impending divorce weighed heavily on me. I saw Mihir's determination to prove himself, attending prenatal classes alone and setting up a nursery at his place that Mahi told me about as she was designing it for him.

His persistence continued even after we signed the divorce papers in silence. He kept sending flowers and small gifts for the baby, trying to show his commitment.

One fine evening, I was surprised to see him at a pregnancy yoga class I attended. He was waiting outside afterward. Our conversation was brief but it was marked on my heart, though  I would never admit it to him. I told him it would take more than gifts and notes to win me back, I couldn't help but notice his sincerity.

Over the following weeks, Mihir attended every doctor's appointment and immersed himself in learning about fatherhood. One rainy night, he kept standing in heavy rain before the divorce, and after it, one such day, with heavy rainfall, he brought me a dessert I was craving, unexpectedly. Though surprised and a bit uncomfortable, I liked it a lot, though, I didn't say anything.

Then my thoughts drifted to the annual celebration, I was happy to see that he was getting awarded, but when he dedicated it to me and the baby, I  could not help crying. And then how he ate so much to make me win...

I was still thinking about it when my phone started ringing. It was Gaurvi so I picked it up.

" Hi, how are you? " I asked trying to sound cheerful.

" I am good and want you to be good as well. Listen we are going to a resort nearby. I want you to come with me. "

" No.. "

" I am not listening to any of your excuses. I have already talked to Mom and Dad, they also think it will be good for you. So, pack your bag you are coming. "

" But... "

"Shhh! Go pack your bag." She said and disconnected the call. I took a deep breath and packed the bag.

It was evening, my shift at the hospital was over and I knew Gaurvi was waiting for me. I just collected my work-related stuff and locked it in my locker there, got ready to go with them, and waited in Dad's cabin. Gaurvi joined me and she was about to call Jiju when he came to see me,  " Ready, Honey? Tami? " He asked pulling her to him. She nodded.

" Yes, Jiju," I said.

" Great! Give me your bag! "

" No, I can... "

" I know, but allow me, please. " He said and I nodded.

We all went out and kept the bags in their car. We got in and Shlok ji started driving. They looked so happy and madly in love.

As the car rolled to a stop in front of the resort, Looked out the window and felt a mix of apprehension and excitement. The resort was breathtaking—a blend of rustic charm and modern luxury. Surrounded by lush greenery, it was designed to look like a series of elegant treehouses nestled among the trees. Wooden walkways connected the rooms, each decorated with a jungle theme, complete with indoor plants, earthy tones, and large windows that brought nature inside.

Gaurvi and Jiju were all smiles as we looked around.  with her bags. "This place is incredible!" I exclaimed, momentarily forgetting my worries as I  took in the serene surroundings.

The lobby was spacious, with high ceilings, wooden beams, and large glass walls offering panoramic views of the surrounding forest. The air smelled fresh and clean, a welcome change from the hospital where I spent most of my time. A friendly staff member led us to our rooms, explaining the various amenities along the way.  There was a big swimming pool for everyone, a spa, and a restaurant that served organic, locally sourced cuisine.

My room was stunning, with a comfortable bed draped in soft linens, a private balcony overlooking the forest, and a large bathroom with a rain shower. There was an inbuilt swimming pool that gave a feeling of a small cave near the river. I felt a sense of peace washing over me as I unpacked my things and settled in. For the first time in a long while, I allowed myself to relax.

Mihir's POV
Same day morning...

I saw Tami talking to a patient in the gynecology ward. She looked radiant, her face lit up with a gentle smile. My heart ached with longing and regret. I wanted so badly to be a part of her life, to share in those moments of joy.

After she finished, I approached her, trying to talk to her

"Tami, can you please come out for dinner with me? "

She took a deep breath. "I appreciate the offer, but I think we should keep our interactions professional. Parshav and I are getting married very soon. So I don't think, it's right..." She said. I was shocked and offended. I pulled her aside to a vacant room "You can't marry him like this... I love you, Tami. You belong to me, and I will not let you go to him. "

" There was a time when I was dying to hear that... But not anymore. You can't force me to stay with you. " She said and I lost my sanity.

" I did make that mistake but you can't keep on punishing me like this. You don't love him, though you are angry with me at the moment, you love me. I know that... So don't deny it. "

" Think what you want to... When I accepted my feelings for you, you denied them; now, I don't feel anything for you, and you are sure of my nonexistent feelings and want me to accept them as well. Oh, please, Mihir, leave me alone.  " She said. I was looking for a chance to get her alone and I was going to remind her of my love.
