Mihir's POV

Why the hell was he there with her?? She is married to me, I really wanted to go there, they worked together and he had the whole day with her... I had tried to tell Tami to break ties with Gaurvi and Shlok once and she snapped at that and told me that she would sign the papers if I wanted but she would not do it. I didn't want to repeat that mistake again. He was a good friend to her and if I told her not to talk to him, she would think that I was trying to control her.

I swear to God, I wanted to punch him hard. I had never felt so jealous in my life, people used to flirt with Gaurvi as well but I never had this kind of burning sensation. I think this time it is something else that is infused with jealousy, but I couldn't tell what it is.

Parshav was a very eligible bachelor, being tall, dark handsome, funny, a qualified doctor, from a royal background, the son of her uncle's best friend, her brother's best friend, and above all, he has always been by Tami's side at the hospital, while I was busy avoiding her, caught up in the mess of our arranged marriage.

If we get divorced as I had planned, her parents would get her married to him in a second. He was as good as me, family and qualification-wise, and a good-natured funny man who would make her life happy. But just the mere thought was causing me some kind of severe indigestion, and burning sensation in my heart.

Was I having a heart attack?

" Vihan... "

" What?? "

" I am not feeling well. "

" Neither am I. "

" I am serious. Can you check, I am having some discomfort in my chest. Some burning sensation. "

" What?? Really? " He asked me a few questions checked my vitals and took a deep breath.

" Congratulations! You are falling in love, so burning with jealousy." He replied.

" That man is flirting with my wife... I want to kill him but can't stop him. Everyone thinks he is just kidding as he is a funny guy. But he is with her all the time. Now he wants to take her to the seminar and camp for 2 weeks." I said.

" No!! " Vihan looked shocked.

" Yes! I tried to stop her but she said it was good for her career as she would get good exposure. I don't want her to go with her. " I shared it with him.

" Tell Gautam uncle that you are not comfortable with her assisting him. " He suggested.

" Then he would ask for an explanation. What would I say?? " I asked.

" But you can't let her go to that seminar... Do you remember what happened when Gaurvi went to that semi... " He was saying when he must have seen that he was saying exactly what was bothering since she told me about the seminar, he stopped.

I took another glass of the drink and gulped it.

" Go slow on drinks, you idiot! Do something. Or this man will snatch her from under your nose. Remember that she already likes him and he has already announced to you that if she was not married to you, he would have married her. You have already sent her divorce papers, what if she takes his words seriously... You lost your fiance Gaurvi to Shlok, beware or you will lose your wife to him... " Vihan said.

" Shut up!! "

" Okay, but do something. "

The party continued as everyone was enjoying, I finished my drink and grabbed another, trying to drown the turmoil inside me. Just then I saw Tami coming back with Sri, I looked around and found that Parshav was already inside in some discussion with Siddh.

Gaurvi was being difficult with food, so Tami went to make her some malpua. As I watched Tami interact with everyone, I felt a mix of pride and longing. She was so caring and attentive, something I had taken for granted.

When Tami returned, she looked for me, and a strange warmth filled my chest. She joined Sri and Sagrika, and I found myself drifting toward them, drawn by her presence.

Later, I found myself alone on the terrace, needing fresh air to clear my mind. Tami found me there, her presence a comforting anchor.

“Mind some company?” she asked softly.

I shook my head, trying to smile. “Not at all. I could use some.”

We stood in silence, taking in the beauty of the night. The stars twinkled above us, and the sound of crickets filled the air. There was a tranquility that made me feel closer to her than I had in a long time.

“Mihir, I know this isn’t how either of us imagined things would turn out,” she began, her voice trembling slightly. “But I want you to know that I’m here, and I’m trying my best. I know you’re hurt, and I understand why. But I hope, in time, you can see that I care for you and I want to make this work.”

“I know, Tami. I know you’re trying. It’s just... difficult for me. Though I am not in love with her now, but still...”

“I understand,” she said, her eyes aching for me. I reached out and took her hand, surprising both of us. “We are in this together. Let's go inside.”

We walked back into the house, hand in hand. The warmth from her touch lingered, giving me hope. Inside, the music changed, and couples started dancing. I was planning to ask her for a dance, but Parshav moved toward Tami. Before he could reach her, I stepped in and pulled her to the dance floor without a word.

We started dancing, and it felt awkward at first. Ron teased me, saying Tami wouldn’t eat me alive if I held her tightly.

I pulled Tami closer, wrapping my arms around her securely. Our bodies pressed together, and a shiver ran through me. She looked shy but content, and it felt good to hold her this close. Sparks seemed to fly wherever our bodies touched. Her face turned red, and I could feel her heart in perfect sync with mine.

The song ended, and Ron announced a paper dance competition for couples.

The music started, and we began to dance on our sheet of newspaper. She looked nervous, but Tami’s presence in my arms felt reassuring. We moved together, trying to stay within the boundaries.

When the music stopped, we folded the paper in half. The space was smaller now, and we had to move closer. Tami’s arms tightened around my neck, and the warmth of her body against mine sent tingles down my spine. I wanted her with every cell in my body.

The music started again, and we danced, our movements more restricted. Couples were gradually eliminated, leaving only Ron and Mahi, Gaurvi and Shlok, and us. The paper kept getting smaller, and we had to hold each other tightly to stay on it.
