Tami's POV

Mihir glanced down at the bed, then back at me. “I guess we... moved a lot in our sleep.”

“Yeah,” I said softly. “I guess so.”

His eyes flicked to the nightdress I was wearing once again, and I saw his expression shift from embarrassment to something else—something I couldn’t quite place. “You finally wore one? ” he asked, gesturing vaguely at my attire. I felt my cheeks heat up again.

" Did I have any other options? It's mom's doing... She removed every modest nightdress I had. " I said.

" I wonder what came to her mind. " He said.

" Clearly, she seems to think we need some... encouragement,” I said hesitantly.

Mihir’s eyes widened, and then, to my surprise, he laughed. It was a genuine, warm laugh that I hadn’t heard from him in a long time. “That sounds like her,” he said, shaking his head. “I should have guessed that she was planning something like that. Mom is mom... ”

His laughter was infectious, and I found myself smiling despite the awkwardness. For a brief moment, it felt like the walls between us had lowered just a bit, allowing us to see each other in a new light.

“Maybe she is right, ” Mihir said suddenly, his tone was more serious. “About us, I mean.”

I looked at him, my heart skipping a beat. “What do you mean?”

He hesitated, clearly searching for the right words. “I know things have been... difficult between us. But maybe we should try to get to know each other better. Really know each other. Not just as roommates, but as... partners.”

I was taken aback by his honesty. It was something I had longed to hear but never dared to hope for. “I’d like that,” I said quietly, meeting his gaze.

" But, if you intend to do that.. why didn't you let me borrow your clothes?" I asked.

He looked uncomfortable at the thought and then he smiled." Maybe someday... I will share them, can't do it just now. " He said looking away.

He got up and went to the bathroom. I kept thinking about what he meant but didn't understand him. I don't know why he was beyond me sometimes.

Shaking my head, I got out of bed and wrapped my towel robe over my night dress.

As I headed to the wardrobe, to take out my clothes for the day and two extra pairs for the picnic, I couldn’t help but glance back at the bed where we had woken up in each other’s arms. It was a moment of unexpected intimacy that had opened the door to something new, something real.

And for the first time, I felt like we were truly beginning our journey together—not as strangers, but as partners who were ready to explore the possibilities of what we could become.

I packed my bag with two more of those naughty nightwear as I liked whatever happened between us in the morning. Though I was feeling very shy, I wanted to see that blushing Mihir again. 

Mihir was in a lighter mood today just like me, Mom looked at me and raised her eyebrow, but I just turned red and she smiled.

She made me sit with Mihir and told me to serve some breakfast to him. I served his favorite dishes on his plate and he smiled and thanked his mom, but she told him that I prepared it especially as he liked it. He flashed a faint smile at me.

After breakfast, we both went to work.

I informed Dr Rajvanshi that I would be on leave two days after lunch. He asked me if I was alright. I just nodded and told him that we had planned a family outing.

" Since you are going on a leave, I suggest that we take a round now. " He said and I nodded.

As we were finishing up rounds, Parshav asked me to stay behind. "Tami, you’ve been doing excellent work. I’d like to discuss a few more cases with you." He said. I nodded.

"Of course, Dr. Parshav," I replied, hoping Mihir would come a bit late.

We reviewed the cases,
I forced a polite smile. "Thank you for the offer. I’ll make the diet plans for them when I come back." I said he nodded.

I was wrapping up my notes just before lunchtime, Mihir was supposed to come to pick me up, as we were going to the farmhouse Directly from there.

As I packed everything, Dr. Rajvanshi called me into his office, I went in.

“Tami, I’ve been impressed with your work these past few weeks. Your dedication and attention to every minor detail are commendable.”

“Thank you, Dr. Rajvanshi,” I replied, feeling a swell of pride.

“We have a special project coming up, and I’d like you to be involved. It’s a new initiative aimed at integrating nutrition more deeply into pregnant women right from the time of conceiving or even before that when they plan to conceive naturally or through artificial insemination. Your input would be invaluable.” he said.

" That seems to be a great opportunity, I will think about it. " I said.

" You don't have time to think, decide it now. We have to leave the day after tomorrow in the afternoon. If you are interested let me know by today." He said.

" I would like to go. "

" Great!! As your friend, well wisher, and your mentor, I would have suggested that you should attend it. It will be a wonderful learning experience. " He said and I nodded. We have a seminar for 4 days and camps at five different locations in Haryana. We will go for 2 weeks. "

" Sure!! I’d love to be a part of it. Thank you, for considering me for this opportunity, Sir. ” I said, excitement bubbling up inside me.

" Great!! So, I am sending your name  to go for the seminar with me." He said and I nodded.

" May I take your leave now? " I asked and he nodded. I came out and was about to call Mihir to tell him that I finished my work for the day and we could leave now. But I was astonished to see Mihir already waiting there in front of Parshav's cabin for me.
