Mihir's POV

"Bring her to my cabin." Gautam uncle said with a smile.

"Who? Me??" I asked.

"Who else? You want me to call another man to carry your wife?" He glared at me.

Shit!!

"No! Of course not, sir... uncle... I mean, Dad. I meant to say that you can carry her there." I said getting

"What?? Don't tell me you think she is too heavy for you to carry. Do some exercise, weight training... increase your stamina. She is... "

" No, not at all, she is as light as a feather. I said so as you are here, and it feels awkward to carry her like this in your presence." I said, my face, especially my ears, getting hot.

"What kind of a man are you? I would have given my tooth or nail for such a chance to carry Maurvi 28 years ago... Here, I am asking you to do it, and you want me to do it?? I can carry her easily, but I have been carrying her since she was born; it's your chance now. Follow me." He said and winked at me.

Strange man!! Thank god, he didn't punch me.

I went after him as he opened the door of his cabin and then the door of his inner room. There was a soft, comfortable bed, big enough for two people to sleep on it.

I laid Tami gently on the bed, making sure she was comfortable. She stirred a little and caught my hand  but didn't wake up; I got very embarrassed as her dad was watching us. Dr. Gautam watched with a smirk on his face.

I tried to pull my hand but she was holding it tight.

"You know, Mihir, you're really hopeless when it comes to romance." He said.

I blushed, scratching the back of my head with my free hand.  "I guess I'm just not used to it."

"Well, you better get used to it. Tami loves you... And she is a very romantic person just like her mom. She deserves someone who can take care of her, someone who can make her smile. And from what I've seen today, you're starting to be that person." He said with a smile.

I nodded, feeling a warmth spread through my chest. "I'll do my best, sir."

"Good. Anyway, I have come to congratulate you on the successful surgery of such a complicated issue in such an emergency. We could not have saved the man if you had not performed the surgery. You are a very talented neurosurgeon, Mihir. I know what the situation is, but you must not waste your knowledge and skill of saving lives just because of some awkward situations that you might have to face when Gaurvi joins back. But you can't avoid them even if you leave the job as you can't avoid meeting her for the rest of your life. We all are family and you are bound to meet both her and Shlok now and then. So why do you want to quit doing something that you love to do or what you are best at? Place a hand on your heart and say that you are enjoying being a part of the empire of your dad or that you like to save the lives of the people. "

" Uncle... Dad... I love saving lives, I felt so good after the surgery, but I have to join the business to get my share of wealth according to the will. I might join the hospital after things are normal on all fronts. But, as of now ... " I was saying with my eyes downcast, and he stopped me.

" I understand, but let me remind you once again, being my best Neurosurgeon and my son-in-law, it is your hospital as well, you can just walk in and join it back whenever you want. Now, why don't you lie down too? It's late, the surgery was long and tiring and you look like you could use some rest. C'mon, lie down!! " He said pushing me to the bed.

"Here? With her?" I asked and got tense, he might guess that we were not sharing a bed.

"Where else? You are looking at me as if I said something strange. Or are you feeling awkward as I said that, do you ask for my permission when you sleep beside her every day? "  He asked with an eyebrow raised.

" Oh, I mean, I must go and sleep with Dad... He is alone. " I said to avoid sleeping with her and had to give a reason for asking such a question.

" Mehul is absolutely fine. He does not need any attendance; we kept him here as Megha is not here in Delhi, so we need to keep an eye on him while both of you are working. I will send my most trusted men to take care of him. You rest here. It's late, and it's my order as your superior," he said with a wink. "Besides, my daughter needs you too." He said pointing at how she was still holding my hand.

With that, he left the room, closing the door behind him. I looked at Tami, who was still sleeping peacefully. Taking a deep breath, I lay down beside her, careful not to wake her.

The bed was indeed comfortable, and despite my initial discomfort, I felt a sense of peace lying next to her. She turned and snuggled into me. I could feel her soft warm body against my chest. She was so close that I could not think of anything but her.

Her long and thick eyelashes were looking so pretty. She snuggled even closer and nuzzled in my chest, sending a weird sensation through my body; I had never felt that way in my life, even whenever I held Gauravi. The feeling was electrifying yet somehow very comforting. She wrapped her arm around my torso and cuddled me. Her softness was quite pleasant yet disturbing at the same moment.

Why was I feeling such conflicting emotions at the same time? Was I losing my mind??

No, I was just too tired so I ignored all the thoughts and tried to relax, having her pressed against me. Before I could realize it, I slipped into slumber as well.
