Chapter 10
Third person's POV
"Are you certain? Think carefully; it's a big decision," Maurvi cautioned.
" Absolutely. Please allow me to get married to her. I need one chance to show him my feelings for him. He has given unconditional love to her, he deserves to get it back in his life. " Tami reiterated and tears rolled down her cheeks.
Gautam, seeing her distress, relented,
" My little princess has grown up so much and I didn't even get to know about it. Please don't cry. I allow you to get married to him, but if you don't get his love and respect in return for your efforts, and if any day you feel that it is enough and you don't want to go on with it, let me know, immediately. I will be there to take you back to our home. I don't want to see you craving for his attention or love. He needs to understand that you are not marrying him under any obligation, or just to save his dad, my relationship with his dad, or the reputation of our families. " Tami nodded. He hugged her very tightly and kissed her head.
They returned to the others, and Maurvi informed Megha of their decision. Megha hugged Maurvi gratefully, then turned to Tami, embracing her.
"Thank you, dear. I'm thrilled to have you as my daughter," Megha said warmly.
"Let's get her ready quickly; the guests are waiting," Mrs. Jindal suggested, and they all headed downstairs.
Tami went to the washroom to wash her tear-streaked face.
" What about the wedding dress? We need to arrange one for her as soon as possible." Megha asked.
" The wedding dress you got for your daughter-in-law, is here," Maurvi realized.
" Perfect, let's use it. I am glad that now my daughter-in-law will wear what I got for her as per our tradition. Let's get her ready. " Megha declared eagerly.
While Tami freshened up, Maurvi took out the dress and her jewelry. And told Megha that Tami has had a crush on Mihir and she is already in love with him. So she must help her in bringing them together.
Megha, filled with joy, hugged Maurvi, expressing her gratitude.
"The beauty experts from Maya's salon are still here; I'll call them. You need to attend to the guests downstairs; Mehul bhai might be looking for you," Maurvi suggested.
As Tami returned, Megha embraced her again, passing her the jewelry and elaborate wedding attire.
"Get ready, dear. I'm so happy," Megha said tearfully.
The salon staff arrived to assist Tami with her preparations, while Megha descended to greet the guests, her heart brimming with happiness.
They got her ready as per Maurvi's instructions. On Maurvi's suggestion, the salon girls attached a tissue veil on Tami's head that covered her face to her eyes so that people could not see that it was not Gaurvi but her younger sister Tami.
She was ready to go. The girls left after that and Maurvi told her daughter to wait there and went downstairs as she needed to see a few things.
Gautami's POV
I looked at myself in the mirror and saw that I looked even more like Gaurvi. We resemble a lot but of course, there was an age gap of three years between us so she looked a bit more mature than me. But after the make up I looked like her.
Just an hour ago, I was thinking that Gaurvi was really very lucky to be getting married to him. But somehow I always felt that she didn't love him the way he loved her. She was everything for him but he was just her best friend, someone who she could trust with anything. I wished he had loved me like that, if he had loved me so much, I would not have hesitated in even giving away my life for him.
But now she was gone... Will he still crave for her? Or was there a glimmer of hope for me?
As the ceremony drew near, I couldn't shake the feeling of impending doom and was worried that the fabric of our carefully constructed facade was about to unravel. And in that moment, amidst the grandeur and opulence of my sister's wedding, I found myself teetering on the precipice of a truth I dared not confront.
The wedding bells tolled in the distance, their solemn chime a harbinger of the tumultuous journey that lay ahead. And as I gazed upon the scene unfolding before me, I couldn't help but wonder:
Would love to conquer both of us or would our veiled affections lead us down a path of heartache and regret?
Only time would tell, but for now, amidst the splendor of Gaurvi's wedding day, I was ready to take her place.
