My Garden

Far away from where the eye can see,
A garden lies in wait for me

Tis' a beautiful place full of sunlight and flowers,
Where small creatures play in quiet hours

But twas' not always so, for it was once filled with thorns,
It was a place that would cause me to unceasingly mourn

Filled with darkness and filled with stones,
My garden would often fill me with woes

But once the gardener came in with a shovel,
And said "child  your garden looks quiet in trouble"

The gardener began pulling out stones and ripping out thorns,
By the time he was done his hands were quite torn

And I know the price that he paid
And I will remember for the rest of my days

In that one shining moment, the gardener seemed to say,
"Come follow me, for I know the way"
