✈︎ Chapter Eighteen

If you guys have read my announcement, hopefully you understand the inconvenience yesterday and probably for future days where– I'm off or randomly disappearing.

"Ah, so you're Jaemin?" Satan grins with his voice low, making Jaemin pray more in his head for help and just get the hell out of here. No pun intended.

Jeno grunts with his arms still crossed, clearly still upset at his father. "Don't scare him off, keep your voice normal." He muttered.

Satan chuckled and cleared his throat, "but am I wrong?" He asked stepping closer with his feet now out of the circular ritual symbol or whatever.

Jaemin just gulped dryly as Satan was almost very closely in front of him, eyeing him strictly with his gaze intimidating. "Are you Jaemin or not?"

"Okay, Jaemin. Keep calm and cool, pretend it's Jeno whom you're talking to. No need to be sca–"

"I– I am s-sir." Fuck.

Humming, the demon king had his hands placed behind him while still staring at the foreign boy. "How did you know who he is?" Jeno's question interrupted him.

He blinks, turning to face his son with a small grin of his, teeth sharp and shiny as ever. "A little birdy told me."

"Haechan snitched."

They all flinched at the new voice and turns to look at Jisung casually sitting on one of the hard window sills of the study in his demon form.

"Why are you here?" Jeno asked tilting his head as he watches Jisung stand up from his place and approaches him for a hug.

Engulfing the blue haired boy in his arms, Jisung shrugged while still holding Jeno close to him. "Duty calls." He answered.

Satan scoffed at his words, "really? Last time I checked, you were supposed to be grounded. Wouldn't your father hunt you down for this?"

"Oh please, if anyone was to be blamed, it's gonna be Ten. That bitch bailed me out to help him with his deeds for tonight at the club downtown." Jisung grumbled.

"At the club? Again?" Jeno baffled with his eyebrows knitted together soon after.

The younger laughed lightly, "you can't really expect anything else of his deeds. He's incubus's son, so not really a surprise especially on how he tried to get with you too."

"He did what on my son?" Satan gapes, appalled.

"Nothing, you didn't hear that from me. Haechan told me that too, basically if I know something, Haechan snitched. Which includes this," Jisung said nonchalantly with a gesture between them all.

"Whatever, back to the main topic." Jeno huffs and turns back to face his father with the same scowl he had since he found out about what the elder did to him.

"Look, I didn't mean to hurt you and make you feel like that, Blaze." Satan sighed deeply.

"I'm just– you're my only son, my gifted son, you're very special to me and I can't stand leaving you alone without any protection for your own good." He stated.

"But I'm not a kid anymore!" The blue haired boy huffed once again with his eyes glowing a light shade of red. It was clear to them that Jeno didn't like to be treated like– he was weak.

"Yeah, I know but–"

"No! Listen to me dad," Jeno cuts his father off mid-sentence.

It was rude, he knows, but what else can he do to make his father understand what he wants, what he needs, for himself if he just goes all... Soft and obedient?

"Can't you just understand that I'm not weak? That I can do things on my own too?" He ranted while his tail finally showed along with his horns, yet his wings were kept hidden because they guessed that he wasn't about to explode, just yet.

"I do understand, I know how capable you are of doing things–" Satan hesitantly tries to say as gentle as possible, careful not to rile his son up even more.

"No you don't! Let me finish!" Jeno screams.

One of his many demon voices (for persuasive and also deceiving purposes as a demon) echoed through the whole house and Satan just hopes it didn't go far enough for others to hear.

Seeing how annoyed the blue haired boy was, Jaemin couldn't help but really want to reach out to him. He thinks about how he hugged the younger gently, calmed him down just a few moments ago downstairs.

He wonders if he could do it again, or if it would work.

His thoughts were caught off by Jeno huffing loudly, Jisung backing up to the wall just a few steps away from the elder in hesitation and anxiousness.

Jaemin guesses, even though the boy was friends with Jeno, he didn't know how to calm him down in moments like this.

It was true, because whenever Jeno (rarely) explodes, Haechan and Jisung just lets him be in the nearby arena and go wild with his emotions there.

"One of the reasons I wanted to try living on earth was literally to attempt and be independent! Why can't you realize that?" Jeno's low angry voice turned soft at the end, sounding more like... Defeated.

Satan pursed his lips, he really wants to say something and make Jeno understand his point of view, too.

But instead, the blue haired boy's tail lit up in a small fire as he raised it upwards that made Jisung behind him grow nervous.

"Jen, don't do it." Jaemin finally speaks up making Satan glance at him while Jisung mouthed a 'help', still staring wide eyed at Jeno's rare aura.

Jeno didn't listen, in fact he went deaf ears with the elder's words. His eyes glowed and Satan can smell his anger, a pretty weird demon thing but it's fine.

Before he could do anything, Jaemin was already sprinting towards him, engulfing him in a tight hug. Much tighter than the one before this event. And more closer too.

"Sorry, I couldn't take it anymore." The raven haired boy thought to himself.

Jeno softens a bit, feeling the same strong arms wrapped around his waist, his own face buried between the raven haired boy's neck and shoulder, sniffing his strong cologne.

"Jaem..."

"Don't do it, darling. Let's take a breather and talk about it, yeah?" Jaemin whispered softly.

He blinks, eyes getting droopy from his tantrum, that always happens whenever he's finished. He gets tired.
Hearing Jisung sigh in relief while Satan observed them closely. But he ignores them.

"Okay..." He mumbled, his demon parts were back to hiding themselves, his voice back to the soft and kind tone like before, instead of the many different tones they were born with.

He cuddles closer, clinging onto Jaemin with his hands gripping onto the elder's broad shoulders. "But not tonight, please." He whines.

Chuckling lightly, Jaemin rubbed his back and couldn't help but peck his crown. "Of course," he whispered back before looking up to face the other two.

"You heard him, I know you did." He suddenly grew confident of himself, especially towards Satan.

"Holy shit, I actually just said that without feeling like a coward. Fuck that, Chenle and Renjun."

The demon king nodded stiffly, still observing them before beckoning Jisung to follow him. "Come, I'll fly you to Ten." He said.

Opening the window and letting Jisung out first because the boy needed training on his flying skills instead of teleportation, Satan glances back to his son, safely in Jaemin's arms.

Somehow, that action and what he had witness made him feel slightly on ease.
