♘Chapter 2♘

I slash.

I kill.

I taste tiny drops of blood which dripped on my lips.

Every Titan on my way, I kill them with a clean cut across the back of their neck.

I may be kind, you may have seen me smile, but at the sight of Titans, I kill mercilessly. I wiped my bloody red lips with the back of my hand and stood on the rooftop, watching as the scene unfold before me. Some Titans have successfully been taken down and some soldiers have their life taken away from them. A little towards my right where the front line is, I caught sight of a 15 meter tall Titan coming towards me which I found odd because I was quite far away from him. He could not have sensed me, could be?

I zipped past him and turned around, landing on his back and at the nape of the neck, I saw a symbol of a circle with a dark imprinted flower in the middle. A jab of electricity shot up my spine and for a full second, I was stunned in my own position. A sheet of white flashed in front of me and a wave of dizziness attacked my mind.

What?

Because of that, I could not react at the span of a second when the Titan turned around and swiftly wrapped it's fat fingers around my petite body.

What?

Because of the shock earlier, I still had trouble processing the surrounding. It was as if my mind has been interrupted by some kind source.

"MAE!" A familiar shout broke my trance as colour returned back into my eyes.

Blood of the nasty beast splashed across my face when I looked up, finding the humanity's strongest soldier standing on top of the Titan's shoulder before catching me into his arms when the Titan released it's grip on me and fade into the air.

"Levi, thank you." I said when he gently placed my feet onto the dusty ground.

"What the shit happened back there, you brat? Why did you suddenly freeze for a full fucking second? Lose attention for a goddamn minute and you'll be in hell!" He huffed angrily.

"I honestly don't know..." I muttered as my mind wandered off.

Just what..was that..?

I groaned as I grabbed the right side of my head as it pounded painfully. I bent a little forward and Levi put his hand on top of my right with his other on my shoulder.

"What's wrong?"

I dropped onto the dusty ground as I continued holding onto my head which hurt like a terrible migraine. I grunted in pain in Levi's arms as he started to panic at my sudden unease. He looked around cautiously to make sure there are no Titans around which would attack us; upon seeing that there are not any members of the Medical Operations, he scooped me up and rushed me back into the Military Headquarters.

"Listen, Mae, we aren't from this place."

"Wh-What do you mean??"

"Remember Mae, never reveal your real name to anybody unless necessary. Never. You will know when the time comes.. When it is time to be who we truly are."

"Father, I-I don't understand."

"Listen intently to what I have to say. Not a single question until I'm done."

"Yes, father."

"We are fr-"

"MAE!"

I jolted awake at that voice and noticed that my breathing was uneven. My shoulder was held firmly by two strong hands which belonged to the man who brought me to where I suppose is the infirmary.

"Levi?"

"You were shaking in your sleep." He stated as his steel grey eyes watched me calm my nerves.

"O-Oh, I'm sorry." I exhaled to relax the tension in my muscles.

I held my head in my palm as I recollected the pieces in my memories. What I dreamt awhile ago was a memory which I could not forget. The picture does not matter, what mattered was the conversation between my father and I. Every single word he said that day was precious and a highly guarded information.

'Perhaps what happened earlier had to do with my true identity?'

"Are you feeling alright?" Levi questioned gently, but his voice still monotonous.

"Yes I'm fine. Let's go." I announced and left with Levi close behind as he watched me for any sign and symptoms that would risk faltering my performance out there.

I stepped out from the building right in time for a gust of wind to push my cape and silver hair behind as the brilliant Sun shone upon me while I proudly stood as the humanity's hope.

'Mae..'

'Mae Namikaze.'

I used my gear to lift me up onto the roof and I began to race towards every single Titan near me. I leaped onto each rough with ease, using as little gas as I could possible manage.

I may not be as strong as Levi, but I am the second hope of humanity, I am strong in my own ways. I could be what people call as a 'perfect' human being, but as far as I know, they are wrong. I may be strong, I may be fast, I may be knowledgable, but I have a fatal flaw and that is my emotions. I know I have more, but I discovered a new flaw which could end my life the next time I encounter a Titan.

My true identity.

The symbol I saw on the Titan's next earlier seemed to trigger something in my head which I cannot seem to figure out, but I am almost sure that it has much to do with who I am.

'Mae Namikaze, just who are you?'

'Who am I?'

I groaned in frustration as I sped my way and reached an entrance which three cadets are found encaged by several Titans like a semicircle.

I caught the sight of Levi on my left and we nodded in understanding of what we are about to do.

Both of us hopped on a Titan each which are the furthest towards each other and sliced the nape of the neck and stretched our blade, carrying our body towards the nearest Titans until we reach each other. Basically saying, we attacked from the end of the semi circle and drew our blades towards the middle. We dropped onto the ground and watch the monstrous bodies fade as we faced the adolescents with our backs with the intention of protecting their vulnerable selves.

"Get yourselves to safety, kids." I ordered.

"S-Sergeant Mae and Sergeant Levi!" The male brunette gasped in awe.

"Hurry up!" I yelled harshly when I spotted more Titans coming.
