Chapter 3

Lavender felt pride swelling side of her as she and Sapphire were walking down one of the paths through the village. They had spent a little while at the river and after they had finished their foolishness, they went to go catch some fish, or at least try to.

Sapphire was carrying a good sized fish, it's silver scales glittering in the sunlight as it's mouth hub open agape as it's lifeless body hung from the SeaWing's jaws.

Lavender had several failed attempts at catching any fish, but she finally managed to catch one. Sure it was small, maybe the size of palm, but at least she managed to catch one! She was carrying hers from her jaws as well, carrying it by it's tail fins.

The two dragons were walking town through the village as they were on their way to find Funnel and Shadowsplitter. As the two walked, Lavender felt herself growing hungrier by the second, so she couldn't wait any longer before she ate the fish she had caught, it tasted wonderful and she let a out a him of delight as she swallowed it.

Lavender looked over to Sapphire to see the princess looking at her. "What?" She couldn't help but ask.

Didn't you want to wait before you ate your fish so you could show your brother? She heard her friend ask in her head. Lavender was happy she had mind reading abilities thanks to her NightWing genetics, so she wouldn't have to listen to Sapphire's awful attempts to speak with a fish in her mouth.

"Yeah, but I was hungry and it smelled so good, I couldn't hold myself back." The hybrid smiled as they kept walking.

You can't ever hold back, Sapphire shot back with a smile on the SeaWing's round face and a playful roll of her bright ocean blue eyes that looked to sparkle in the sunlight, sparkling like the surface of a pool of crystal clear water.

"Of course I can!"

Really?

"I'll prove it!" She huffed, her frills twitching at the sides of her head along with her wings.

How do you plan to do that? Sapphire asked with a tilt of her head as they kept walking.

"Umm, I don't know, I'll find a way to prove it to you that I can hold myself ba- what's going on?" Lavender and Sapphire has both stopped at the sight just a few wing lengths away.

There was a group of dragons gathering, not many, but still noticeable. There were a few SkyWing's and some groups of MudWing's along with a SandWing or SeaWing here and there, but the most common in the small cluster of grouping dragon was NightWing's.

The two didn't speak as they made their way closer towards the gathering dragons. They soon could hear somebody talking, their voice smooth and masculine, it was a charming voice, once that sounded as though it belonged to royalty. As the two got closer, Lavender could soon see who was speaking.

"Aren't you tired of the same old Queen who doesn't care for you or your family's wellbeing?" It was a dragon who looked strange in appearance. He had dark blue, almost black, scales with white spots running down in a line along his side, just like a NightWing. He looked like one too, but the underside of his wings sparkled and were bright blues and greens in colouration with small star like white spots that looked to shimmer. He had the frills of a RainWing on the sides of his heads that matched the underside of his wings, he also had the horns of a RainWing as well. His eyes were a dark blue like the depths of the sea. He had glowing markings around his eyes and along the underside of his belly much like a SeaWing's. What made the dragon even more flashy looking was all he jewelry he wore. Who in all of Pyrrha even needed that much jewelry?

"Well, you're in luck! My fellow NightWing's!" There was a charming smile on his face, showing off his sparkling white teeth. "The day is soon to come for a new era where we no longer have to live scattered across Pyrrha! But instead, living together in our own kingdom! One we have all longed for, one we all wished to actually belong to." He spoke, his voice sounding like music in all their ears.

"Haven't you wanted that?" The strange dragon asked a female NightWing who stood with her dragonet, protectively standing close to her daughter who visibly flinched when his direction was aimed at her and her child.

"Want...what?" The NightWing hesitatingly asked, her ears flat against the sides of her head, her green eyes narrowed in suspicion.

"Ah, right there. That's the look of a dragon who's been given the poor end of the stick in life. Well don't you worry my dear, what I'm asking is something simple." He walked closer, his jewelry jingling. "Wouldn't you like to live in a safe place? Where you don't have to constantly fear for your life? Or the life of your dragonet who still has a whole world to explore! Don't you want that?"

"Yes but-"

"No buts my dearest. I'm speaking the truth. We all want a safe place, and if our so called Queen can't provide that, then who's to say we should even treat her as our Queen? It's time for a new era, one of old when NightWing's were beloved to be the most powerful tribe in all of Pyrrha! Mysterious and full of wonder! When we had a Queen of our own, and that is what we soon shall have."

A Queen of their own? Lavender felt herself questioned as her mind swirled and buzzed with questions.

"What do you mean soon?" Asked a NightWing.

"A Queen of our own? But we've always had the same Queen as the RainWings." Spoke up another, more and more voices joining in.

"Everything shall be answered in due time, but for now, just keep all I've said within your heads. When the time comes for the NightWing's to rise back to their full potential, you shall all see me again."

This guys way to dramatic, she thought with a frown, her frills twitching. "Hey Sapphire, why don't you go look for the others?" Before the SeaWing could speak back to her through her mind, Lavender spoke up again, quickly saying "I just want to watch a little more and talk to this guy."

Okay, just, don't get into trouble. You tend to do that often, Sapphire thought before she was quick to turn away and leave along side some of the other dragons who've chosen to leave. Lavender watched her friend go before her gaze turned back towards the odd dragon. She let out a hum as she watched him start to walk away, a graceful movement with each step.

I don't want to lose him, she thought as she quickly followed him. It felt strange, snooping around again. She hadn't done this since, well...since Rattlesnake was alive, and when she got the feeling that the Animus SandWing was up to something, she turned out to be correct, which she always was in her opinion!

The hybrid continued to follow the strange dragon as he walked down trough the village, stopping to talk to other NightWing's, always talking about the 'new future' before he'd move on.

What was up with this guy?

Lavender continued to follow him before he turned to go between two large huts, walking between the two large huts that created a tunnel of shadows that looked to swallow him whole. She hesitated a few moments, just standing around the edge of the hut.

I've got to follow him, he could be an evil guy planning on taking over all of Pyrrha! Just like Rattlesnake!

She took in a breath before she walked around her corner before she immediately froze in her tracks. He was standing, right there, looking at her. His dark blue eyes looked to glow in the dark as he gave her a smile.

"Hello there darling. What brings you here?" He asked with a tilt of his head. When Lavender didn't speak up, he spoke up instead. "I know you've been following me dear, so, why have you? I know I'm very interesting! So? What's the goal? The purpose? The desire?"

Goodness he talks a lot, she thought with a huff. She was told that she talks a lot, but no, he does.

"What's that frown for dear? No dragons complete without a smile, so go on, show my your gorgeous smile." His smile widening slightly as his blue eyes kicked with her pink ones. He reached forwards with one of his talons and gently tilted her face up to look up at him. "Come on, why don't you give me a smile?"

Gosh, and he's creepy, she all but spat in her head as she looked at him. She soon shook her head out of his gentle grip.

"No thanks, I was just following you because you looked weird," she pointed at him, earning herself a chuckle from the other dragon. "And you're talking about a new era, what's that all about?"

"Oh! Oh, oh, oh. You crackle me up little purple dragon. We all look weird, everyone does in their own way. But you and I? We're special." He said as he started to circle her.

She listen to the clinking on his jewelry for a few seconds before she spoke up. "What do you mean? We're special?" She asked.

"Can't you tell?" He asked, when she gave him a glare with a questioning look, he chuckled. "Neither of us belong to a singular tribe." He stopped circling her and walked back towards her face, sitting back and grabbing her frills, pulling them outwards to look at them. "Definitely part RainWing, and by the looks of it, part NightWin by those sparkly stars in your frills and under your wings!"

"Talons off!" She hissed as she pushed herself away from him.

"Oh! You've got RainWing fangs too! Can you spit venom? Or are they just for show?"

Okay, very creepy, very creepy! Her mind all but screamed. She tried backing out of the ally way but bumped into something, or rather, someone.

"What are you doing?" Snarled a deep feminine voice. When Lavender turned around, standing before her was a bloody brown NightWing with golden yellow eyes, they looked just like her brothers but hers weren't soft, they looked cold. There was a singular silver hoop earring that hung from her left ear, it looked to sparkle in the sunlight that illuminated the larger dragon from behind.

"I...um..." Lavender couldn't form any words as her frills shook as they fanned out.

"Oh! Animosity! It's wonderful to see you out and about during the day! I thought you only came out at night, since you're a NightWing, eh?"

"Shut up." The NightWing, Animosity, spat.

"Who are you?" Lavender couldn't help but ask, bringing the two other dragons attention back onto her.

"Oh! Right! This is the lovely Animosity! And I'm the most charming dragon you'll ever meet!" The jewellery covered dragon said with a smile, pointing to himself.

"You're hopeless you over grown dragonet." Animosity snarled with a lash of her tail.

"I don't get it." Lavender frowned.

"Charming? My name? I'm Charming and I certainly am a Charming dragon! An I not?"

"Oh you're just splendid." Animosity's voice was laced with sarcasm, it was dripping like venom from a snake's fang, though, Charming either didn't care or didn't seem to noice her sarcastic tone.

"I know I am." Charming nodded with a grin.

"Are you two, like, together? Or, something?" Lavender spoke up as she watched the two. She really wanted to read their minds, but since she was a hybrid, her ability was rather weak. She can only read the mind of a singular dragon at a time. She would focus to hard on reading once's mind, and it would be obvious to the other what she was doing since when ever she read a dragon's mind, she hardly paid any attention to the world around her other than said dragon. She shook her head to clear her thoughts as she watched as the two dragons looked towards her.

She got two different responses.

"Yes!"

"No."

"I don't know if I should believe either of you," She huffed with a flick of her tail. "But I should be leaving! My, uh, friends are waiting for me."

"Oh? But didn't you want to hear what I was talking about in town? Isn't that why you followed me?"

"You followed him?" The NightWing snapped her gaze back to Lavender and away from Charming.

"Only because I was curious and he was acting very odd!" She exclaimed, her frills flaring out at the sides of her face.

Animosity snapped her head back to Charming, giving him a glare. "What in the three moons were you doing?" She hissed.

"Nothing bad! Just telling our fellow NightWing's about to future to come, that's all."

"It's been nice and all, but I should really get going, like, now." Lavender started to slowly make her way past Animosity, her gaze never leaving the two strange dragons.

"You sure you want to leave so soon?" Charming asked with a told of his head.

Yup! Definitely want to leave theses two, she thought as she kept going.

"Let her go Charming, she clearly doesn't want to be in your bothersome presence." Animosity hissed with a twitch of her wings.

"I'm not bothersome."

"You very much are."

"Oh you just adore me."

"Quite the opposite."

Lavender took the chance to quickly slip away, speedily walking down the dirt paths that mapped out the village like a spiders web, each path connected to another and linking the huts together through said dirt paths. She let out a huff, releasing the air that she didn't realize she had been holding onto as though it was the only think keeping her grounded in that situation.

Those two are very strange, she thought as she looked back over her shoulder towards the alleyway between two huts. She couldn't see either Charming nor Animosity, so that was good, but, being around them gave her a bad feeling, a feeling similar to that of Rattlesnake's. One that felt like a looming shadow, waiting for the perfect chance to strike out and take its prey. Charming felt creepy, and a bit to eager, while Animosity just felt, cold.

Almost as though the female NightWig had no other feeling other than anger or annoyance.

Something was up with those two, and she didn't like it, not one bit. But, she didn't want to go back and question either of them, especially alone.

She turned to keep walking the way she came. Once she got back to the others she could tell them all about those two strange and creepy dragons! But, she actually needed to find them first.

Oh three moons this will be wonderful, she huffed with a frown as she kept walking down through the village as dragons would walk past her, going off to do their own things.

Little did she know, the young hybrid wasn't so easily forgotten by the pair of strange dragons, especially Animosity. When Lavender felt the feeling of being watched tricking down the back of her neck, she looked back over her shoulder once more to see Animosity watching her from the alleyway, the NightWing's golden yellow eyes narrowed into slits, her earring glistening.

Something is wrong with those two.

This chapter is a bit shorter than I would've liked, but I enjoyed it and I'm happy with how it's turned out.

Finally! The two strange dragons have been named. Animosity and Charming. I love theses two as characters, so hopefully, we'll all get to see some more from this duo.

Chapter 4 hopefully won't take long to complete since I've got it roughly planned out and the main points written down, so keep an eye out for that!
