Chapter 7: Almost There
Tide lunged at the dragon closest to him, he only had time to tell it was a SkyWing before he flipped it over with a slack of his tail. The SkyWing flew down and hovered, shaking his head to get his senses back. When he looked up and blinked, Tide smacked him again, but harder. He was trying to force the SkyWing to land because with enough hits, he wouldn't be able to fly with disoriantational vision. Confused, the SkyWing soun and breathed a blast off fire hopefully. However, the spinning made him stop, he was too dizzy to fight right now. Tide smirked, it worked he thought. Just then, the SkyWing lunged up towards him, apperantly he could make it colors. "Ugh!" Tide tried flying out of the way, but the SkyWing gripped his tail and sank his teeth into it. Tide howled with pain, he struggled to shake off the SkyWing, but only to result in his teeth going in deeper. He flapped his wings furiously, trying to escape. A green figure zoomed by, it was Thorn. He was being chased by a SandWing, whose face was filled with joy at his frightened shrieks. With all his might, Tide thrusted his tail and flung the SkyWing in front of him, as well as the SandWing.
He couldn't have describe the pain as the SandWing smashed into the SkyWing at full speed. The teeth sank deeper and slid to the tip of his tail when the SkyWing was smacked off with the force of the SandWing. They tumbled to the floor, to end up fighting themselves. So they're not a group... Tide realized. They're all just fighting to get to the end... Why couldn't they just fly there, as a group, until the next competition? Why couldn't they just, make an alliance with each other!? For now at least!
He hovered around, looking through the dragons. If Thorn was here, where are the others? He desperately looked through, until he spotted Thorn. He was, of course, with Coast. They were surrounded by two SkyWings. They couldn't fight them alone! Tide rushed over, doding a few fly in tails. He swept up through the two unsespecting SkyWings. The flinched as he passed, they growled and he gave them a smack with the tail. "Listen here!" They perked up. Why should they listen to this pipsqueak?! "Think about this... Why not just partner up so we could ALL get to the end? After all we've only got a few more ways to go."
They looked at each other and laughed. Everyone stopped and looked at their direction. Who could be laughing at a time like this!? Good. They're all listening... Tide spoke up. "Why are we even fighting!? Many dragns have died doing this stupid competition! Look around!" They turned their heads to each other, confused. Tide spotted Drought and Seabass from a distance. Drought's OK, phew..! "There's barely any of us left! Isn't that enough!? We could finish this right now, there's only. Ways to go. We don't need to kill every dragon! Just stop this madness! You're giving Heatwave what he wants! Death. And are we going to just let him laugh at us all, slaughtering each other!? Our own flesh and blood? Our brethren?" He glanced around the dragons. Some nodded and SME held their head in shame. "Now come on. Let's just go and end this." He turned and flew, and surprisingly, everyone followed. Some conversations and apologies were spoken here and there.
Coast flew up beside him. "That was...Wow." "Thanks, I guess..."
"Hey, it's OK. You did really well, you stopped everyone from slaughtering each other! That's impressive!" She chuckeld and he did too, it felt really good to make a difference, change their minds about this while thing. Drought flew up after. "Good job, Tide-" Tide punched him. "Ow hey! What was that for!?" He held the spot where he hit him. "THAT'S, for flaking out on me."
He stared for a minute before smiling, and then to laughing. Tide couldn't help but do the same too. Seabass was OK, Drought was OK, Coast and Thorn, and Cliffwater. He looked around, but she wasn't there, he panicked. Where was she!? He looked around befpre something poked him from above. He looked up and saw brown scaes,. And a bright eyed Cliffwater glaring down at him. He smiled and looked back forward. He saw a gleaming of blue glisten in the an. Almost there... He thought. Almost there...
