Chapter 10: To the Mountain

" Burned?!"

How could I be burned? The SkyWing missed- No... Cliffwater jumped in between, did she get burned more than me!? Is she Ok!? She didn't look like she was hurt, nonetheless on fire!

He looked at Cliffwater's back scales. They were unscathed, and she seemed perfectly fine. What's going on? She was lurking around the water like an alligator, which seemed kind of scary and cool, but that didn't concern Tide. He noticed she was staring at him, her snout and eyes on the surface of the water.

He couldn't help that he was curious, so he slowly padded in, expecting to get some answers. "Tide, what are you doing?" Coast asked, concerned. Ignoring her, Tide waved his right talon to tell her not right now. She snorted before turning and walking off.

The water had a nice cool wind feeling in it which made Tide feel tired, like he wanted to sleep there all day. He shook his head and continued.

" Hey, uhm, Cliffwater. I need to ask you something."

She binked at him like she always blinked at him, silent and calm, like nothing bad was going on right now. "It's about that SkyWing that attacked me, not long ago." Her face turned to an "aw great." expression, and she lifted her head out of the water.

"It's not that I'm not grateful, which I am, of course! But, when he blew out his fire, it should have burned one of us, and... I don't know it's just..." He took a deep breath before continuing. "Coast just pointed out that I was burned, on my back scales. If I was barely scathed by the fire, you should've..."

She tensed, her ears flicked and she seemed like a big brown statue.

"You probably... should have been practically partially engulfed in flames, Cliffwater!" After saying it out loud, the thought of it sounded utterly rediculous.

Relaxing, she tilted her head as if she was a younger dragonet that didn't understand a word he said.

"You're unscathed! You're perfectly fine! I just." He took a deep breath. "I just want to know, how. How are you OK, how are you so casual about this?" He studied her closely. "How are you so, so calm!? Cliffwater, this is serious. I'm not sure why or how but can't you just tell me?"

She didn't even utter a word. She was silent, like she always was. So silent that it was almost deafining to Tide's own ears. By now, every dragon that was talking and laughing had stopped in their tracks to see what was going down in the small lake.

Thorn was jumping and flapping trying to get a view of them, since most dragons where bigger, if not huge compared to his little RainWing body.

"Tide, you're attracting unnecessary attention." Coast whispered as she slipped into the water.

"Yeah, way too much for my liking." Seabass spoke grimly.

Drought was still at the side of where they were, watching the sky. What was he looking for up there?

Wingbeats were heard and Drought made an uneasy face. It was obvious, Heatwave was coming back. Just what I needed. Tide became Alost as grim as Seabass at the sight of the landing SandWing. Everyone turned and looked at him, some cowering down uneasily.

"My, what's all the commotion about? Aren't we supposed to be. . . Oh never mind that." He swiftly moved in between the crowd, heading towards the small lake. As soon as he came into view, Thorn disappeared from sight. Luckily Heatwave hadn't noticed.

He glanced around before turning, his tail barely hitting the water. "My, aren't we all just a little jolly. Interesting, considering how many of you have probably already killed your best friend." He examined his blade-like talons, which glinted in the sun.

Some dragons looked around, either looking for some dragon that did kill or to keep from eye contact from others. Tide glared at him, even though he wasn't even looking. Cliffwater lowered her head into the water and bubbles formed as she blew out of her nostrils angrily.

There was an awkward pause and Heatwave chuckled. "Well, if its going to be like that, then come along." He opened his wings and took off into the sky. Dragons murmured and stared for a moment before doing the same. Reluctantly, Tide got out of the water, hearing Cliffwater right behind him. "Squid-brain." Coast spoke angrily as she looked up at Heatwave, who was hovering over, waiting for the dragons.

Drought came up, sighing. "Yes, but we'll have to do as he says. If we want to live, that is, and quite frankly, I'd rather die of old age." He nodded his head upwards before flying up as well.

Sighing, Tide did the same. Cliffwater and Seabass trailed after him. Before taking off, Coast paused for a moment, then she relaxed. "Torn's here too, by the way." She commented before joining them. As soon as they hit the sky, Thorn flashed his scales to a dark brown, indicating his presence.

As they joined the group of dragons, Heatwave turned and flew towards the sun, where a few mountains were barely visible.

Wondering what they would see there, Tide followed the group, thinking about what the next challenge could be.

Holooo! Lol, hey people

WUUUZZZUUUUUPPPPP!?!?!?

Ahaha, anyways, sorry for not posting anything lately, for this story. I've kind of sort of maybe possibly lost motivation for a little, luckily I just needed to take a breather, but I'm back now! (You probably never noticed! Whuaahhh!) Just kidding, just kidding. But oh well, it doesn't matter what "DN2" does anymore, does it? *sniff* lol, just messing. Well, I hope you liked, I also hope for feedback! To repeat, the feedback can be negative, but, I request you be a liiittle mature about it. Don't be like those people on YouTube that always say very negative things to people, which I don't really see a neccesity for. Oh well, all I can do is say and not do, who am I to judge you peeps anyways? Oh well!

Gird, I keep rambling, so, later!

(P.S. "DN2" is just an abbreviation practically, short for DeadlyNadder2, if you haven't guessed it yet, lol, later, thanks for reading! Bai! *coughs* EHEHM. I mean, CHAOU! Just kidding, bye.)
