Chapter Seven

Everything was black.

What happened?  The Skywing was laying, still invisible on the floor.  He would have appeared completely still, but his mind was racing.  Okay, okay, okay...  Slow down.  Don't think of to much at once.  You'll have a panic attack, or a brain heart attack if you do.  Wait is it even possible to have that happen in my sleep.  The Skywing scolded himself.  Let's try this again...  First, where am I?

He listened in his sleep, and felt the ground lightly with his claws.  I can hear air going through the hallways.  I can feel the ground is stone.  I'm still in the school.  That's good.

The Skywing slowly won the struggle to open his eyes.  He was laying on the floor.  He slowly lifted his head to look around more, but immediately regretted it.  A stabbing pain started in his head, and went down through his arms, legs, wings, and tail.  Ow!!!  That hurts!!!  He put his hand up to support it on the ground.  He didn't see his arm or his hand though.  Where'd I go!!!  I'm invisible!  He calmed himself down again.  Then, he watched as slowly, his scales materialized seemingly out of nowhere.  That was unsettling.  The Skywing got up, making sure not to move to fast.  Maybe I have motion sickness.  But what's with the invisibility?

When he turned towards the entrance of the room, he was dismayed to see they had locked him in.  Well, I can't completely blame them.  I could've woken up a psycho.  I still can't remember to much.
He nocked at the door for a while, until finally he heard the sound of keys.  There was a click, and then the door opened a little, and Crimson peaked in.  "Well you're awake.  You aren't going to murder me though right?"

The Skywing shrugged.  "I don't think I will.  I can tell you I haven't remembered anything, but you don't have to believe or trust me."

Crimson opened the door fully.  "Well Nocturnal, hasn't come charging in to save the day, so I'm gonna guess you're good.  I need to check on Tsunami's battle training.  She's preparing for those statue things, and Sunny and Starflight want me to bring you with me, just to make sure you don't get into trouble."

As Crimson walked down the hall, the other Skywing walked a little further back.  "When did this place start?"

"About twelve years ago, after the Dragonet Prophecy was fulfilled."  Seeing his confused expression, she about tripped.  "Three moons, you were probably living under a rock.  Okay, so pretty much Tsunami, Sunny, Starflight, Clay, and Glory were all part of this prophecy that said they were supposed to stop this war between the three Sandwing sisters, which ended up dragging everyone else into the mess.  They succeeded, even though it turns out the prophecy was a fake made by the Nightwings.  Right after they chose Sunnies mother, Thorn as the new queen, they started this school.  The whole idea was to get all the tribes to be more comfortable around each other, and not start more fighting."

The Skywing thought about that for a while.  That's a lot of responsibility.  And they were eight at the time.  But they did it.  Maybe I can do something big too.  Hopefully it's a good something though.  "So these Nightwings made a prophecy where eight year olds had to save everybody?"

          Crimson chuckled.  "That's right."

"Well, I guess it was a fifty-fifty chance anyways."

"How so?", Crimson asked, momentarily stopping.

"Sometimes, one someone can be smart, and a bunch of someone's can be stupid.  Other times, a bunch of someone's can be smart, and one someone can be stupid.  It can go both ways, it just depends on who the someone's are."

They continued walking for a while, the footsteps echoing off the hallways.  "For a possibly crazy guy with amnesia, you sure seem wise.  Can you tell me something smart so I can make someone think there dumb?"

This made the Skywing really laugh.  "It's true, knowledge can be powerful.  But even though it can be useful, it can also backfire.  You've got to know how to use that power the right way."

Crimson groaned.  "To many wise words!  Luckily, I can use that on Starflight.  Also, we're here.

They both looked out a large entrance that led outside.  There were a dozen dragons flying around, each one wielding metal spears that shined in the sun.  Once in a while, Tsunami instructed one of them to fly down, and stab a series of piled boulders.  These were cemented together with mud, and made to be shaped like dragons.  Someone had even taken the time to draw snarling faces on them.

A brown and amber colored dragon saw them, and waved.  He had a limp to his walk, as he landed.  "Hey Crimson.  Hey Skywing that I don't know!"

Crimson grinned.  "Hey Clay!  Good job with getting the mud.  Also, you did pretty good with the faces too.  One of them looks like it's about to barf!"

Tsunami growled.  "Clay didn't do the faces.  While we were all asleep, Fatespeeker snuck out here with black paint.  Now I'm gonna have nightmares for months," she muttered, glaring at one of the faces.

"Uh, what's completely going on out here?", the Skywing asked, looking nervously around.

Nocturnal landed next to him, causing him to jump back in surprise.  "We're trying to prepare for a possible attack.  These things you guys saw sound a lot like statues.  So, there was this one time when Tsunami had to fight a animus touched statue that could move, and therefore kill her.  She couldn't kill it, but she beat it up with a narwhale spear.  Since that worked so well, we got these metal spears to help kill these guys."

The Skywing didn't know what animus touched ment, and he was about to ask, when all of the sudden a dark blue, almost black dragon landed on top of one of the practice statues, stuck the spear into the neck area, and ripped the head off, right into another statue, which crumbled.

"Nice job Frostfire!", Tsunami called.  "Remember though, these things have lava in them, so don't let any of that get on you.  Also, these guy's will be moving."

"Got it," she said under her breath.  She smashed a few more statues, and then raced into the school, turning a corner.

"That was freaky," the Skywing said.

"Ya, Frostfire's one of our best fighters.  Even beat Tsunami."  At that, Nocturnal chuckled.

After Crimson talked for a while, and Tsunami glared at Nocturnal, the Skywing finally spoke up.  "Could I go to the library?"

Clay nodded.  "Crimson and Starflight were trying to figure out why all that stuff is happening to you, so you could probably help out."

Right as they were turning around, the spear in Clay 's hand flew towards the unnamed Skywing.  He was afraid it was about to impale him.  He looked, and all it did was stick to his left arm, and vibrate just a little.  He finally comprehended what had happened, and quickly brushed the thing off.  It clattered to the ground, and the Skywing shivered.  "That was creepy, and I am definitely running to the library now.  Crimson please hurry, because I don't know my way around here."  Then, he ran into the school, not waiting for a response from anyone.

After a while, Crimson caught up to him.  "Hey, wait up!  What was that?  How'd you do that?"

He slowed down.  "So that's not normal?  The invisibility wasn't a usual thing either was it?"

"How did you know you were invisible?"

"When I woke up, I had a major pain in my head, and when I tried to sit up and support myself with my hand, I couldn't see my scales.  Then, they slowly just...  Materialised."

Crimson shivered.  "Creepy.  You sure you aren't an animus?"

"What is that?", the Skywing asked.

"Well, an animus is a dragon born with the power to literally do what ever he or she wishes, wether it's bringing a statue to life, or making a necklace that turns you invisible."

" Na, if I was an animus, I would have made a scroll or a piece of paper that would tell me who I was.  Then again, maybe my powers were messed up somehow."

For a while they walked, and then a dark purple and black dragon ran up next to them.  "Hi guy!  I've heard a lot about you, and I definitely don't want to miss out on anything weird."  She paused.  "So, what are we doing?"

"Hi Fatespeeker, we were going down to the library," Crimson said.

"Ooo, I get to say hello to Starflight.  Maybe we can give Mr.Mysterious here a name too!"

"What kind of name?", the Skywing asked cautiously.

"Well duh, a Skywing name," Fatespeaker said, slapping him on the back.  "You are a Skywing, right???"
