Chapter 4
Monarch didn't have a reaction unless you counted her mouth hanging open in shock a reaction. That's Luna's weaving school! No freaking way.
And then she began to question herself whether this was real or if it was a daydream, or she had fallen asleep and began to dream that her dreams came true.
"REALLY?!?!?" She squealed with excitement but stopped as she noticed her parents had sad faces. She stopped, but her wing buds still twitched with the news.
"What's wrong?" She asked. Marblewing flicked her wings, and Sulphur looked up at her, trying to put on a nice face.
"Being invited means you don't have to pay for it," He said. "But also, you can't pick which one you go to. Luna runs multiple throughout the whole continent, and the one you were invited to is..."
Bronze turned away, his wings ruffled with anger.
"It's in the Hives."
Monarch felt like she would explode. What? How is that possible? How could I be invited to my dream school, but on the other side of the continent? Mother and Father will never let me go!
She hissed with outrage and said, "How could they do this?" She growled and looked up at her parents, who had stood up and wrapped their wings around her.
They both let go and took a step back. "Don't worry, my little Junebug. We have good news." Sulphur smiled shyly.
Marblewing twitched. "We're going to let you go to the academy."
Monarch's eyes widened. "Really?" Her parents nodded. "Thank you, thank you, thank you!" She turned to look at Bronze but he had left the kitchen. "One moment please."
She raced into the hallway where Bronze's bedroom was. He was sitting on his hammock, small tears streaming down his face. Monarch stepped forward, and he snapped his head up to look at her.
"Are you okay?" She whispered to him. Bronze turned his head away and Monarch sat next to him.
"I can't believe you leaving." He said. "After everything we've done together. Rove and I were going to get married, and we could live together with two dragonets, away from our parents."
Monarch suddenly felt horrible. She had no idea that her brother had his whole future planned out.
"I'm sorry." She said, hugging his arm. "But I'll see you all the time. I'll visit on the holidays, and I'll definitely be here when you and Rove get married."
Bronze sighed and said, "This is stupid, I don't know why I'm crying." He wiped away his tears quickly, and Monarch's eyes watered.
"No, it's not."
They sat together for a while, until Monarch fell asleep in her brother's arms, dreaming of her future.
P.S. sorry this chapter is so short, I will try to make longer ones.
