Glorybringer Oneshot -Always and forever-
Glory POV
I looked at the two eggs, sitting there and glittering in the moonlight, they were due to hatch very soon. The healers didn't exactly know when though, so I had woken up and checked on them every night since my last visit with the doctor.
"Glory?" I heard a familiar voice, and I turned to see Deathbringer. I was thankful for the embrace. "You okay? You're all brown and green."
"I'm fine." I said, masking my scales with a wave of different colours of calming blue and a moody purple.
"I'm pretty sure you're not fine." Deathbringer pointed out, seeming quite tired himself. "I wouldn't be surprised if you had stayed up every night waiting for the eggs to hatch."
I gave him a frown, spots of irritated orange appearing, though I let them. "I have not." I said, turning away to look at the eggs once more. "Maybe," I whispered to myself. He was right more than I would have liked. He was always so smug about it.
I could already feel the pink creeping up, but I shoved it back down. Not today, I thought.
But something else grabbed my attention. A quiet, cracking noise. Could it be? I thought, my scaled turning a bright, surprised and excited pink and yellow, which were colours I usually didn't show.
The black egg with rainbow sparkles, and the white egg with a black half and rainbow smears were both hatching. It felt like the most wonderful moment of my life, other than when I met Deathbringer.
I stood there awed, and Deathbringer ran beside me. I sat down and curled my colourful tail around my talons, as my eyes sparkled since I could help it. My dragonets were hatching! Who wouldn't be excited?
All the constant days worrying, under sleeping, and waiting didn't matter in this moment.
A small, black talon reached out of the first egg. As I looked at it, comfortable in the nest, the egg shattered, and that's when I saw my beautiful dragonet.
She was covered in black scales, but her wings and underbelly were changing different colours of pink and yellow, along with a delighted purple.
Her eyes were a stunning amber colour, like little glowing lights in the sky. She had little colour changing scales, I noticed, in a circle around her eyes as well.
I was stunned, almost too delighted to speak. "She's beautiful," I whispered.
I saw Deathbringer press close to me. "I know. What should we name her?" He asked, wrapping his tail with mine.
"Firefly." I said confidently. Her eyes reminded me so much of the charming glowing bug. It was also such a pretty name.
"Good name." He said softly. Neither of them had the ability to be smug nor sarcastic at this moment, when I saw my dragonet for the first time.
It wasn't long before the second egg hatched, but this time, it turned a glittering silver. I looked at it, surprised, and noticing how this egg was in the moonlight instead of the comfy dark that the other egg was in.
Firefly blinked at the other egg, and she looked at it curiously, as if questioning what it was, and what it was doing.
The egg however, cracked and shattered as the first one, revealing a Rainwing looking dragonet, but near where the front talons were, it faded into a black, though before that the scales changed colour. Her black wings were scattered with the night sky stars, and her eyes were a shiny blue with starry teardrop scales beside her eyes.
I realized the teardrops might mean she would have mind reading powers, but I didn't care. I'll love you no matter what. I thought fiercely.
The shy looking dragonet gave her a smile, and my heart leaped in my chest.
"Should we name her Blackberry?" He asked.
I squinted at him. "Blackberry is dreadful name for a stunning dragonet like her." I pointed out, my voice letting him know that was final.
"Fine." Deathbringer said. "I thought it was a good name."
"It is." I told him, trying to make him feel better. "But not for this specific dragonet."
"Rainshadow?" He asked again.
"Alright." I finally agreed, after a pause. "I love them both."
"Me too." Deathbringer said, sending me a smug grin, though this time I smiled back.
This was the way it was meant to be, just me, Deathbringer, Firefly, and Rainshadow, always and forever.
I wish I knew that Firefly was canon before I used it... Let me know if you want a part two! (Or if you want your own oneshot ofc)
