chapter 1: the coronation
a pink seawing swam through the palace at a fast pace. chasing them was a grass green seawing, maybe two years older.
'wait up!!' the older one flashed with her bioluminescent scales. 'wait up, axolotl!'
'no way!' the pink one, axolotl, flashed back. they had a mischievous look on their face, and they smirked back at the older seawing. 'it's almost time, auklet!'
'time for what?' auklet flashed to axolotl.
'tsunami's coronation!!' axolotl excitedly flashed.
————————————————————————
many seawings were gathered in a large room in the palace, all of them anxiously awaiting something.
the two previously mentioned seawings rushed in to their places. they would have panted with exhaustion, however the room was underwater, and as such, they could not breathe with their lungs.
'where have you been?!' queen coral flashed angrily.
'sorry, mother.' axolotl flashed back. 'we were getting our pearls on.'
'well don't do it again. you could have missed it!' queen coral flashed to her child.
'sorry.' axolotl flashed guiltily.
suddenly, all the seawings looked back to the entrance, where a beautiful ocean blue seawing covered in pearls swam in.
unlike the normal tradition of the daughter challenging the queen, tsunami had simply asked for the throne. she didn't want to kill her mother, after all. coral had said yes, and while the other tribes had been rather upset about the throne being simply passed on, queen glory of the rainwings and nightwings thought it a wonderful idea. she won the throne in an unconventional way, too, after all.
finally, tsunami had arrived at the front of the room and in front of her mother, queen coral.
'do you accept this throne and all its responsibilities for as long as you are alive?' queen coral flashed to her daughter.
'yes.' tsunami flashed back. she had a determined look on her face.
'then you will be crowned queen tsunami, of the seawings.' coral flashed, not only to her daughter, but to the whole room.
the seawings in the audience applauded, though it was lost through the water.
————————————————————————
'wasn't that a great ceremony axolotl?' auklet flashed to her sibling.
'yeah it was, actually. not boring like i thought it would be.' axolotl flashed back.
'of course it wasn't boring! it's mom and tsunami, after all.' auklet flashed energetically.
'okay, okay, yes of course it wasn't boring because it's mom and tsunami.' axolotl flashed back, exasperated. 'i'm gonna swim over to the delta. wanna come?'
'YES!!' auklet flashed to her little sibling, almost blinding them due to how bright she made her scales (for emphasis, of course).
'alright, alright, don't blind me, silly!' axolotl flashed.
as they were swimming, they ran into their mother, ex-queen coral.
'and just where do you two think you're going?' coral flashed at the pair.
'umm. up to the delta?' auklet flashed awkwardly.
'on your own? absolutely not.' coral flashed.
'come with us then!' axolotl flashed at their mother.
coral raised an eyebrow, considering her child's statement.
'alright then, let's go to the delta.' she flashed after a moment.
'REALLY?!' axolotl and auklet flashed simultaneously.
'yes, yes, now don't blind your mother!' coral flashed back, momentarily stunned.
and so the three swam to the delta. little did they know, once they got there, there would be a big surprise...
